Oh..my....goodness....

You just can't trust some people.

A friend of mine, who I met while working out for 45 minutes to an hour a day, five days a week, for over a year....who RUNS the workout center where I worked out, called me this morning. Her first question was "Are you the only one there?" So I knew something was up...

She was in the post office yesterday and overheard a conversation that one of my co-workers, who I've worked closely with for FOUR years and KNOWS better, was having with another person. She overheard the other person tell my co-worker that she "wanted to be as skinny as Mindi" because I looked very good. The other guy in the room said he thought I was too thin, and my co-worker said, "Well, she wouldn't feel as bad as she does if she hadn't had that surgery."

WHAT?! This woman, who I totally trusted, was basically implying I'd had surgery to lose weight, when she knows how hard I worked. She's the one who started me out at the workout center! She's my number one cheerleader when I'm feeling bad about myself...she's the one to jump in and say how good I look now and how healthy I must feel.

There's nothing wrong with weight loss surgery...don't get me wrong. But I worked my BUTT off, literally and figuratively, for a year to lose 80 pounds, and she knows it. To have her undermine everything I've done by spreading rumors that my health has been adversely affected by a procedure I didn't even HAVE in order to lose weight just blows my mind.

Mark THAT friend off the list. Obviously she's a total lying snake who can't be trusted. I'm just floored this morning. Wow.

:fr: Wow. That is crazy! I totally think you should tell them off.

Rosinante 04-30-2009 09:21 AM

The rat.

annie175 04-30-2009 09:27 AM

and besides to that so called "friend" NOT....who cares how you lost the weight, there is nothing wrong with hard work or surgery....she is just VERY jealous of you. You are awesome!

freshmanweightorbust 04-30-2009 09:31 AM

OMG what a biz! Don't let it get you down. Just keep working hard and looking awesome!

LittleMoonRabbit 04-30-2009 09:31 AM

Wow, I would have been heartbroken! I really feel for you there.

This person is definitely NOT worth your time.

She's an idiot, and incredibly jealous of you. That's all. I know myself, I would TOTALLY have to walk up to her and say something snotty and sarcastic towards her little comment.

Mrs Snark 04-30-2009 10:23 AM

How sad for her, she must be completely eaten away with jealousy. Laugh it off, you rock it.

MrsPiggy 04-30-2009 10:29 AM

OBVIOUSLY she's a HATER!! Let her hate and you do you! Don't let it get you down... I hate to say it but woman can be catty! It's sad that we are always trying to tear each other down, instead of building up! :( Anyway, keep up the good work!

beerab 04-30-2009 10:31 AM

OMG WHAT.... A.... WHORE....!!

I'd have been LIVID if I were you and would have called her butt right away and said "SO I've HAD SURGERY have I? I didn't work my BUTT OFF to lose this weight?!" And then gone completely off on her and never spoken to her again. How terrible to try and imply you had surgery when you worked hard to do it on your own. People who are 80 lbs overweight don't have WLS, don't you have to be at least 100 lbs overweight?

Hmm... That must be why I don't have many friends... I don't talk crap about people behind their backs and don't deal with people who do it either.

MindiV 04-30-2009 11:16 AM

Thanks, y'all! I'm being very nice and trying hard to keep the peace. It's a 3 person office, so something like that could cause major issues. But MAN it's hard....

JayEll 04-30-2009 11:22 AM

If you can possibly wait until you cool down a little... I would still say something to her in private. But you have to be able not to get angry when you talk to her.

I'd say, "I heard that you told other people I have had weight loss surgery. You know that isn't true--why would you do that?" And then I wouldn't say another thing. Let her explain, lie, whatever, but don't respond after that. Walk away. Keep it businesslike from that point on.

It sounds like she was trying to make an excuse as to why she herself couldn't lose weight or hasn't lost weight as of yet. So she says you, who have lost weight, did it with surgery as an excuse for herself who hasn't had surgery.

The things jealousy will do to a person! Really!

What's weird is that she's SO thin. She's one of those who thinks she's a big, massive cow. She says she was bulemic/anorexic for years, but says she isn't now....I think with her it's more of a case of SHE isn't the only thin one of the office anymore, and I'm getting attention she used to get.
