Yikes! This is turning into a recipe thread :yikes:
I did really well yesterday. Thank you to EVERYONE here! This morning I wanted to go back to sleep instead of doing cardio because- hey- I can't workout the rest of the week so why not get an early start on sloth? But this thread yanked me out of bed. I too an terribly curious about the scale but I know my downfalls. For the last two days, I can see my abs (4 pack, slightly defined- I don't think I HAVE six!!!) and my clothes slide on. Even the size 2 skirts that were, ahem, not quite wearable 2 weeks ago :carrot: So Thank YOU, everyone. Mel |
I have been up all night working, and so I'm very tired. When I'm overly tired, I start to think, "Hmmm... My husband's (whatever garbage he has in the house) doesn't look so bad after all. About 4:30 this morning, it was chicken wings. I wasn't hungry - actually kind of nauseous from not sleeping - so I can't imagine the impact if I had actually eaten them.
But, like you, Mel, I said, "Nope. No excuses." So, those greasy, nasty chicken wings are still in the freezer, and they sound utterly disgusting to me right now. And when I get rid of these children hanging around the house and let their teachers deal with them, I'll take a break from the computer and get some exercise. It will give me some energy for a fresh start! Thanks, guys! |
I'm late jumping in, but I need to keep focused, so I'm jumping in again!
I need to keep mentally reminding myself "no excuses" so I don't slide. It is "teacher appreciation" week at school which is very hazardous. Yesterday our whole staff room was covered in bagels, danishes and muffins, and I've heard rumors that today is ice cream sundae day. I will just put my blinders on and keep walking!! |
Morning, everyone.
I'm chugging along in day 2 of my 1st "no excuses" week. So far, so good, but tonight I have a happy hour / reception at work, and I WILL not let this be an excuse! Be strong, Kim |
I did okay yesterday. Calories came in about 100 more than I wanted, but still in my comfort zone.
I am still in the weird "clothes fit but weight is high" zone. I pulled out a pair of pants I haven't worn in months since I thought they'd be too tight, but they fit okay (not loose, but not too tight either). I'm still retaining water so the scale said 140 this morning. I don't get how I can be 10lbs over goal and still fit into these pants. It may be time to take my measurements again, which I haven't done in over a year. Last night I wore a sundress from last year and it fit okay, but not great, too. |
Morning went well - was up before the sun, running steep hills and generally kicking my own butt. 40 minutes of that before hopping in the shower and getting on with my day.
I'd NEVER be doing this well if I didn't know I had to report in here! LOVE this. |
You and me both, Amanda. We're going to keep this going even if it's only the two of us! (but I think it will be lots more -- love it!! :grouphug: )

Good morning! I'm in a rush--doctor's appointment in a few minutes.
I woke up to another pound down! I haven't been this low since the beginning of April. Now to keep it up!! Food was good yesterday (except for one piece of candy) and should be good today--except for dinner. DD and I are meeting for dinner, so it all depends on where she wants to go (probably Panda express). |
Excuse me while I drool over my salmon, strawberries, toasted almond, and fresh lettuce from my garden salad with Meg's salad dressing recipe from last week's no excuses thread. And I had a protein pancake from a recipe of Mel's this morning. I am such a copycat! Hehe.
Food was totally OP yesterday. For dinner I grilled some marinated chicken breasts and the first zucchini of the year from my garden. Mmm it was delicious. I finished stage 4 of NRLW at the gym and did 40 min. of elliptical. I'm going to take the rest of the week off from lifting, so I'll be focusing on cardio. I'm pondering what kind of cardio challenge I might give myself - ride a certain distance on my bike? Try a different course on the treadmill? Hmm... Jessica, I know you haven't been working out more b/c of your joint problems, but could it be that you have more muscle, or your body fat has just distributed and readjusted itself a bit differently since your weight loss? Mel, awesome, you can see your abs and fit into your skinny clothes! Great job!!! :strong: (I think we need an "abs" icon, lol.) LaurieDawn, great job resisting those chicken wings. I hope you get more sleep tonight. Lydia, congrats on losing 2 lbs last week! Meg, way to pass up that cookie. Thanks for the cranberry water tip, I might use it someday. And thanks for the salmon, strawberry, almond and dressing salad idea!!! Robin, I'm so glad you found your spunk. I think frozen grapes are delicious too! sweetnsassy, those recipes sound delicious. Amanda, way to stay OP while traveling. Keep it up! Velveteen, wtg on the loss! Great job everyone else! Let's keep it up! :carrot::carrot::carrot: |

LaurieDawn: :high: on passing up the wings last night. Those are the moments that can ruin me too. Mine usually come around 10:00am if I'm home with the kids instead of the gym. I really think half of my success at maintaining or losing the weight is the result of not being home during that late morning hour. Kind of hard to wolf down the kiddie carbs while running on the elliptical. Okay, it could be done but I have a feeling that it's something the staff would frown upon even if I offered to share with them. Paperclippy: I'm kind of in the same place you are describing. Well, maybe a little different. All of my clothes from last summer fit. I'm about three to five pounds heavier at this point than I was in July of last year. But my goodness, my legs look awful. I am missing the muscle definition and seeing some serious cellulite that I KNOW wasn't there last year. ~sigh~ My body composition definitely changed. The bright side is all of the lower body workouts that used to leave me feeling like I just wasn't challenged anymore are challenging enough for me now. :D Mel: Have a safe trip. Meg: I went to the store and FORGOT to get the CRANBERRY JUICE. Grrrr. Oh well, if I started drinking it today I'd probably spend the next three days chasing myself into the bathroom every twenty minutes. I'll wait till the weekend for that experience. ;) |
Allison, you must have posted when I was posting earlier and I missed you. WTG on the scale this morning! :)

My 'gym' turned into walking/shopping but now I have the proper fixin's for my shakes ... and some bars.
I'm going to have to amend my calories worth of 'good food' to just say 1400 cals. period. I'm really struggling so I'm trying about 200 cals about every 2 hours. Like medicine! Over a few days that'll morph into good food minimeals but for now. I need the kick in the pants. |
Well, dinner last night was not on plan, and left the total calories about 200 high - not awful, just not what I'd planned. Grrrrr. So, suck it up and move on - no (more) excuses.
B - oatmeal with 5 walnut halves, 1/8 cup raisins, 1% milk, toast with whipped cream cheese, :coffee: S - 1/4 c lf cottage cheese, 1/4 cup ff yogurt, peaches L - spinach salad with tamale pie over top, hi-fiber, lf tortilla S - grrr - DH moved my orange so it didn't get in the bag, fortunately I have some bars and applesauce in my desk D - grilled salmon  , broccoli, brown rice I'm also grilling a small chicken breast to make Barbara's chinese cabbage salad for tomorrow, plus our CSA box comes today, so I'll have more fruit/veggie choices the rest of the week. If there's any salmon left over, I'll try it with strawberries, etc. Sounds good. |
