Seems like I'm craving chocolate a lot lately. It just occured to me that I should ask you all what you do about that kind of craving? What do you eat that is chocolate or tastes like chocolate that doesn't throw you into a tailspin?
I LOVE chocolate and am concerned that I might get back into the chocolate craze if I give into the desire for creamy chocolate. I do each sugar free, fat free pudding, but it seems like it's never enough! UGH!
Are you a moderation type? If so, have a nice square of excellent dark chocolate. I also like no sugar added cocoa, a mug is super sweet and satisfying.
If you are afraid of re-awakening the chocolate monster, try to defuse the cravings by brushing your teeth or eating a pickle.
I find that high quality super dark chocolate satisfies and keeps me from over doing it. For some reason I can over eat milk chocolate, but not the dark stuff. I'm talking over 70% cocoa solids although I prefer over 80%. I typically eat about 100 calories worth at a time.
I prefer hot cocoa for my chocolate cravings. The SF is not bad, but compare brands because on some brands the difference between SF and regular is so small you might as well have the regular. Or you can buy unsweetened cocoa and make it yourself!
There are some gourmet type gelatos (gelati?) etc. that are chocolate, I get one made with goat's milk at Whole Foods, but I'm sure something like that is at regular groceries too. 1/2 c. serving, 130 cal., 12 carbs. YUM! (Doesn't have artificial sweeteners). It's very chocolate!
I also sometimes get those fudge pops (that do have artificial sweeteners). Various brands at the grocery.
I have a recipe for a chocolate angel food cake with Splenda that I love but my family hates (they don't like Splenda taste, though I can't taste it myself). It has a bitter chocolate taste to it that I really like.
I also like the sugar-free hot chocolate but do not drink a lot of it as it is high in carbs for me.
Chocolate almond milk? It comes unsweetened. Do your own thing with the sweetener of your choice in whatever amount.
It sounds a little strange, but I stir 1/2 tbsp cocoa powder and a sweetener (I use splenda, but you could use sugar or whatever sweetener you want) into oatmeal with a little vanilla extract. It makes for a nice chocolately treat and you get to eat a whole bowl of it (way more than those pudding cups). You could also do it with cream of wheat. (And if you live in the midwest, you can buy a product called "Coco Wheats" which is like cream of wheat but chocolate. The nutritionals are about the same as cream of wheat.)
I love weight watcher fudge bars. They are terrific. They are a nice large serving and only 110 calories, 1 fat and 25 carbs. Really get the sweet and chocolate monkey off my back. Calories are less important to me ( I always have tons of calories left at the end of the day ) than fat and carbs are.

I eat 30 calorie Tofutti fudge pops for my chocolate fix. Every now and then I will eat a few chocolate chips if I'm really urging. Sometimes I make up a little baggie with 1/4 cup of Fiber One Cereal 5 chocolate chips and 5 raisins. I find that very satisfying.
Okay, now I'm craving some chocolate.......... Doesn't take much to get me going.
I'm in the dark chocolate camp. That processed fake food chocolate doesn't do anything for my cravings. Although I do like the Edy's/Dreyer's chocolate ice cream popcicle things. Those are yum. If I have extra calories to spare, I'll make real hot chocolate, with melted dark chocolate and skim milk. It's less than 200 calories and really, really, really delicious and satisfying.
I just bought some cream of tartar and plan to make some chocolate meringues sometime soon. Those might be delicious (but they're sweet, so they might also be addictive...tricky).
Would you share the angel food cake recipe, please? I haven't baked a lot with splenda, but I'd like to learn. I think if you make something the first time with splenda, you wouldn't know that it could taste any different.
I have no pudge brownie mix. How do I make only one serving?
The directions should be on the side of the box, but just in case: in a small microwavable dish, stir 1 tbsp. yogurt into 2 tbsp. mix. Stir slowly so the mix doesn't fly everywhere. Pop it into the microwave for one minute and you're done!
I've tried a a few mix-ins, like pb, raspberry jam and frozen blueberries (not all at once!), and those worked well. Frozen raspberries and pumpkin puree didn't come out so great.
