Default I'm going to be in the 130's!!!!!!!!??????

I can't believe this......!!

I haven't been in the 130's. Ever. Well, I'm twenty years old right now. I think the last time I was in the 130's was when I was maybe ten years old. I certainly don't even remember EVER seeing it on my scale. I've been overweight, in varying degrees, my entire life. I was even a chubby baby (almost 10 lbs.) Generally stayed somewhere around 150-180 in my teen years, peaking at 200 when I was having a rough time with health problems. This has definitely been a life long struggle for me. I went on my first "diet" when I was seven. I remember we were all being weighed in at school, and this girl in my class asked me my weight. I was only slightly chubby at that time, but I felt so ashamed from her reaction. I started dieting right around then.

I stepped on the scale today and I was just a tiny smidge under 140 lbs. This is like entering another universe -- the Land of the 130's. Anything under 140, to me, is like...a fantasy weight. Anyways, I don't know exactly what the point of this post is. I'm not trying to gloat, just really excited!! I know I can really get there, I'm less than a pound away and it's really exciting.

Is anyone else experiencing a similar situation -- surpassing your goal weight and feeling shocked you got there?

Anyways, all advice is welcome and thanks for listening(reading)!

ROCK ON! I'm proud of you I haven't surpassed my goal weight, so I don't know the feeling, but I DO know that once I get into the 130's, I will be rejoicing! We are also around the same height.

Congrats! I bet it feels AMAZING!

Thanks NightengaleShane

I've seen a lot of your posts -- you seem like an awesome girl! You're right, we have almost the exact same height/weight situation going on. Congrats on your loss, too! We're both sooooo close, isn't that amazing? If you don't mind my asking, how did you do it? What was your strategy? And how do you currently manage to keep losing, being so close to goal? I know it gets a lot harder, and I've definitely had to tweak things and step it up, so to speak. So maybe we can swap tips.

Thanks again!

What I did was mostly count calories and try not to eat empty ones. I started out eating less than 1,800 a day, which went to less than 1,600, then 1,500, then 1,400, then 1,300 - right now, I try to stay in the 1,200-1,300 range with a few days of eating a little more. I ride my bike around 100 miles a week and I run 3-5 miles a day for 3 or 4 days out of the week. I'll go to the gym when I feel motivated... 2 days a week most of the time I do 10 minutes on my abs every morning and 15 minutes with hand weights every day. Wow. *Breathes* I've been doing most of that since the beginning. I added the abs exercises in later, but the rest of it is stuff I've done all along. At first, my legs burned so badly from doing all that running and biking. I was huffing, puffing, and sweating, but now I do it with ease. I'm in better shape than I've EVER been - even though I used to be pretty thin, I was never this fit.

As for how I currently manage to keep losing, it's a struggle every day, really. I've been trying to really clean up my eating, as to not just eat a small amount of calories a day, but also a small amount of *nutritious* calories. I've also been trying to cycle my calories, and making some attempts at adding new exercise in.

What about you?

PS: thanks for saying I'm awesome

Congratulations!!! I'm so excited for you. Surpassing your goal is an amazing accomplishment. And oh so very thrilling.

I really give you young ones added credit. I know weight loss has got to be very difficult at your age, what with the big social scene, going to school and work and if you're living at home, not having control over the food that is brought into your home. You should be very, VERY proud of yourself. I know I'm incredibly proud of you.

Sorry to hijack this thread, but is everyone else suddenly seeing embedded ad links in the posts? In Robin's post above, the phrase 'weight loss' is underlined and there's a floating Vibrant Ad Live Search ad when you hover your mouse over it. Have I downloaded some new piece of malware, or is everyone seeing these ads?

In Shane's post, 'gym', 'abs' and 'nutrition' are all hyperlinked to these damn ads.

Yes, I noticed some words were underlined in one of the threads I posted in. I wondered why that was happening.

Nineteen
I am so happy for you. I hope you are getting the support at home you need if you still live at home.

Keep up the excellent work and you'll be there in no time.

BTW, yes I noticed the links tonight for the first time. How annoying!

The ads appearing in the underlined words is a new thing the mods are trying instead of "popunder" ads to pay for site costs. See Suzanne's post about it:
