The wedding this past weekend turned out to not be so bad. The food seemed pretty healthy and I had some cake and a couple of appetizers. That's fine. I just didn't want to drink a bunch of empty calories. That's what I don't want at these events. I feel a little pressure to drink alcohol and I don't even want to. I had a glass of light beer and the champagne toast then I was the designated driver. There was SO much pressure to stay for an "after party" at the hotel. Ummmm I don't THINK so, especially since I didn't have a change of clothes. I'm one of those people who has to eat often and when hungry, absolutely HAVE to eat or I get personality changes and mood swings and the shakes. Imagine waking up in a cousin's hotel room, still in the clothes from the wedding, starving and needing caffeine right NOW! LOL
Anyway, not an issue because I did the smart thing and went home and had a cup of tea and a little snack and went to bed. If only it weren't for that pressure to drink when I don't even want to!!!!!! :( |
lipidful, a lot of my BF's friends love happy hour. I can beg off sometimes, but BF wants me to socialize with his friends (understandably, as I like it when he spends time with my friends too) so sometimes I have to go. I either bring a water bottle filled with crystal light that I clutch as if my life depended on it, or go to the bar, order a diet soda and ask for it in the same type of glass they put alcoholic drinks in. Everyone assumes I'm drinking alcohol too, and I just let them think that. Sometimes I even let them think there's liquor in the water bottle I bring. I do the same thing if I want to attend a party and don't want to drink. Volunteering to be DD ahead of time also forces you to stay sober - even if your willpower might otherwise slip, you know you can't drink much b/c you have to drive home.
Great job controlling your eating! |
