I'm a Bermuda shorts hater, too. I think it's just shorts in general that I don't like--mostly because of the huge, ugly varicose vein on my left leg.....

My favorite store right now is Talbots (though I like Chico's, too). The last time I bought anything there, I was a size 6--but they were a tad big feeling. So I went a couple of weeks ago and tried on some 4's. Too early for 4's! They were tight. Had I been losing instead of gaining, they probably would have fit just fine!!

Oh, and Meg, you can NEVER have too many pairs of black pants AND black shoes (IMO!!)!

My rib cage measured 29 inches when I go fitted for a bra this weekend. I never heard of one that small. They but me in a 32 B and said in the future I could try a 30 C. After seeing how well the new bra fit, I put back on my 34 B and it was swiming on me. I knew it was loose, but I didn't realize how loose.

Robin, LOL, I like to "visit" with my clothes too. It is so true how so much more clothes fit in the drawers and closet now that they are so much smaller.

Carolyn, WTG on getting your summer wardrobe all together. Also, getting fitted for the right size bra is a great thing. I had to do it too. My old bra's were Way too big and I honestly didn't know how to pick a bra with a great fit. But, now I do.

Nelie, I haven't tried any clothes at The Limited. My DD likes to shop there but most of their clothes looked too young for me.

I went swimming yesterday with my family. My new swimsuit looked and felt very good. I wasn't embarassed to be seen at the lake. I even tried skiing, (but I couldn't stay up very long). I just don't have the arm strength that I should have.

oh, I missed this thread for a while!

I don't do laundry -- my husband does it all (and much better than I ever could). He keeps coming out of the laundry room saying things like "Your clothes are sooooo much smaller!" They take up less room on the racks, and in drawers.

I also have learned I do not like to wear linen because of the wrinkles. I never had much linen before last year!

I am going to have to break down and buy some shorts, even though I haven't dropped back into size 12s yet. I am wearing 18s and they are swimming on me! I don't really have any capris that fit at this size either. The ones from last summer are big and the ones I bought in the spring still too small...

I may hit the Land's End "inlet" or the Talbot's Outlet. I can't resist a good deal.

OK, I know there are other people on here who are short like me. What do you all do about capris? It seems like every time I try on capris, they look like I was trying on regular pants that were too short. Plus I always feel like my hips look bigger in capris (I usually wear bootcut pants so it looks a little more even).

For whatever reason, the only shorts that I don't think look terrible on me are the ones that are extra-short. Then, of course, instead I am worried about exposing too much! I just feel like if I wear longer shorts I look frumpy.

So instead of capris and shorts, I have been sticking to knee-length skirts instead. I got a couple nice ones at NY&Co on sale, plus a cute dress from there that is actually the first skirt/dress I've had that hits me ABOVE the knee in years. I love it!

Hi Carolyn ... me too. 29" I do not know why I used to think I was a sturdy stout thing.

And on the capris ... I have all but given up. I keep thinking there should be a pair out there that falls just at my knee cap, then there'd be some shape to what hangs out. My best shorts have a 7 or 8 inch inseam and don't cling. Other than that ... it's boot cuts.

Since capris tend to look like pants almost on me, I shop carefully for capris. I happened to buy some capris from Torrid for $3 and really didn't care what length they fell on me, but they happened to fall at the perfect spot, just below the knee. So some capris do have a shorter inseam, I just have to look for them. Although I wore shorts a plenty at over 300 lbs, I haven't worn shorts in a couple years and I'm not too interested in them. I love my capris but they are a bit hard to find in the right length.

I was doing laundry this weekend and I actually had to look at some of the tags of the shirts I was doing to see if they were DH's or if they were mine. DH wears a size small or medium but still it wasn't an obvious distinction from just looking at the shirt.

I have the opposite problem. My legs are such a long portion of my body that I have to try on capri's to make sure they won't look like bermuda shorts. My oldest SD is 5'1 and she wears capri's often. I'll ask her where she buys them as they always look good on her.

In my avatar pic, those are actually Levi's capri's I'm wearing. Not jeans. They fall right below my knee. LOL, I just realized I'm wearing those same ones when I typed this.

I have to try capris on too, or they just look like pants that shrunk! I got a wonderful pair - Liz Claiborne I think - at an upscale consignment store in Dallas when I visited there in March. They were reasonable, but I think I'd at the original price. They are cut absolutely right for me though. I also have a pair of size 12 capris from J. Jill that are great - when I'm the right weight. Sigh.

I went shopping yesterday. gads, what a different experience than it used to be! Even though I'm up to a size 14, I can't believe how many options I have! I went to 3 stores and found all kinds of shorts and capris to try on. For now I ended up buying only one pair of shorts, but they fit me well and don't look like they will fall apart if you spit on them. They weren't the cheapest pair, but I think I will be wearing them a lot.

So, even though I'd love to be back in 12s (and have clothes to wear when I get there!), life is still so much better, shopping wise! And I'm working on getting back down there...

I'm wearing my 1st and only pair of capris today also. I'm keeping inside today where it's still cool enough to wear them. Outside I'd need shorts on.

Heather - keep those size 12's on your mind - maybe hang some outside your closet as incentive.

Carolyn -- They are quite the incentive. I think the shorts I bought yesterday are the only "bottoms' in the right size AND not for cold weather! I'll probably wear them a lot, as they are the best fitting clothes I own!

I went to Target and got a cute pair of shorts in size 6 then went next door to Sports Authority and got a pair of capris in size 10. Obviously sports stores don't "do" vanity sizing!!!

Lily, the great thing about Macy's is they have a wonderful online website and very affordable s/h too. I think everything you can find in the store is available to order online. I had trouble finding something I needed in store in my size and got it off the website, lo and behold. I regularly surf their sale section on line for cute new tops. So those wide waistband, no pocket black pants from Meg can be yours as well!

Hey question for you all - did you find as you were losing that bout 10 lbs to be a size or was it some other marker?

Fran, the pounds between sizes varied a lot according to what I weighed. When I was heavier, there was a lot of room between sizes and now that I'm smaller, it's only a few pounds.

In the beginning, I had to drop about 30 pounds before I even went down one size (very frustrating) (of course, I was bursting out of my clothes since I refused to admit what size I truly was ). Right now, I'd say there's no more than 5 pounds between sizes.
