From the website (there's a picture of them on the home page):

Suzanne, Jennifer, and Amy are 3 Fat Chicks on a Diet!® We are sisters, and we grew up in the South eating foods like pecan pie, biscuits and gravy, and fried chicken. We were active enough to burn it off, and were very thin as children. When we grew up, we didn't have the same opportunities to burn off our fattening meals, as we spent time behind desks or enjoying quiet evenings at home. The Southern tradition still centered around food, but with slower and more relaxed evenings. We didn't really notice when we gained weight, because the three of us gained it together. It was easy to become a Fat Chick in the South. Becoming Fit Chicks would become the biggest adventure of our lives!
With years of diet experience behind us, but without long term success, we took our diet efforts to the internet in 1997, before most people understood what the internet was. 3Fatchicks.com began as a personal website for the three of us to track our progress and share diet tips, recipes, and other helpful information between us. The internet was new to us, and we didn't think anyone would see our personal page. We hoped for quick weight loss, but it wasn't that easy.We posted our real weights and logged when we lost weight or even gained weight. Soon after, we realized that our private battle had become public. Our website was publicized in national newspapers and magazines, and we were suddenly swamped with email from other women that said they were just like us. It didn't matter if we gained or lost weight, they knew they were not alone in their diet journeys.

Through their encouragement, we built a weight loss community around all Fat Chicks, so we could support each other. We took their advice on what type of diet features to include, and included every diet - low carb, low fat, Weight Watchers, etc. - so you could easily find something for everyone here. 3FC members have lost thousands of pounds over the years, and the community continues to grow and become more supportive every day.
