Different LAWL plans

Hello to all! I'm a newbie here. I've been reading the posts for a few days now. You all seem like great supporters & friends!;) I have started following the LAWL plan, on my own. My mother is a paid member and absolutely loves her plan. I am currently following the same plan as her, I think it's red...or is it gold (2 1/2 P, 4F, 4V, 4S, 2D, 1F, and LA Lites)? I wish to lose 36 lbs. in total, although I may decide to go lower than that. Is this the plan for me? Any help, would be greatly appreciated! Thank you for your time and congratulations on all your successes!

Sincerely,
azgal

Thanks, klvan, for the info! I haven't been doing the LA Lites consistently. Two days back to back, I did have the 2 Luna bars. I felt almost as if I was cheating and craved more!!! Because of that, I haven't had them since but really do miss the "treat!" Do you have them? If I am not using them and I'm aiming for 45 mins-1 hr. 5 times a week of exercise a week, should my plan be a different one. Just curious! Glad to see someone at the same starting weight...can't wait until I'm where you're currently at. ;) Keep up the good work, klvan, and thanks again!!!

Boo'sMom 06-10-2006 07:21 PM

I started at 188 on Gold with Lites--just FYI. So I would think maybe Gold.

Boo'sMom 06-10-2006 07:22 PM

I just moved from Kingman AZ this past fall--where are you?

shennie_97 06-10-2006 08:49 PM

I started at 182 and was on gold (was on blu for a minute because of shift work)

azgal32 06-10-2006 08:58 PM

Thanks, Lea Ann! Do you eat the Lites or other bars? Have you been on Gold the whole time? What are the amounts, if you don't mind me asking, I'm unfamiliar to that plan? I am also trying to get in (trying... ;) to exercise 5 days a week for 45-60 mins. Would that change my plan any? I'm in Tucson, love it here! Congrats on your loss, you're almost there. Thanks for your response!

Sincerely,

azgal:)

azgal32 06-10-2006 10:00 PM

Thanks, Shennie! Are you at goal already...you look great!

azgal :)

Boo'sMom 06-11-2006 09:09 AM

I get 2P, 3V, 3F, 1D, 2S, 1fat, 2 Lites (yes, I do the Lites--sometimes a Luna or Kashi) and I've been on this plan the whole time--they have it in my chart to drop to Green if I get to 143--NEVER. If you don't do the Lites (that's another 380 calories!) and/or you exercise more than 5 hours per week you will need a higher plan (more food to make up for the Lites and for more fuel) there are others who can tell you a lot more about that part. Good Luck--hey girl--Tucson is HOT!!!

azgal32 06-11-2006 12:00 PM

Thanks again, Lea Ann! You are most helpful!!! :)

azgal

azgal32 06-11-2006 11:31 PM

After reading Lea Ann's post, I've decided to try doing the Gold plan and have the bars too. I am going to start it tomorrow. We'll see how it goes! Thanks for your response, klvan! Have a great evening! :)

CassyCat 06-12-2006 02:00 PM

How do you know which plan you're on? The girls down at my LAWL center menchioned nothing about colors, they just asked me what I liked to eat, and when I liked to eat, and that was it.
Then they gave me a "personalized plan.."

shennie_97 06-12-2006 02:20 PM

cassey, what color is your book?

Azgal, I wish i was at goal, I was real close, but had a few hectic month and hve gained back about 20 pounds...welcome

azgal32 06-12-2006 02:30 PM

Thanks, shenny, for being so welcoming! Your picture is great... you look like you're at goal. I'm starting now on the Gold plan with the Lites, instead of doing the red plan. Hopefully, I will not be starving. ;) Have a great day!:)

yeah, that's purple (your proteins are 8oz right)

what will happen is you will go down to gold around 180ish and get 6 oz proteins and 1 mess veggie

azgal32 06-12-2006 06:33 PM

Klvan: So far, so good...I am not overly hungry today, as I now start the Gold plan with Lites. Hooray! My "goal" is to get in that much exercise a week, although the past few weeks it hasn't been happening.

Cassy Cat: Welcome! I am very new too. Feel free to keep in touch! Good luck! We can do this. :)

Yes ma'am we can. I went in for my weigh-in today, and I lost 3 pounds.
It's got me really motivated to know that I can lose 3 in 2 1/2 days.

I'm excited =D
Go US!

azgal32 06-12-2006 10:49 PM

Way to go, Cassy Cat! That's great! Stick with it, girl! I don't go to a center, as I am doing it on my own. I'll let you know in a few days how I'm doing. Keep up the good work!;)

Erin

Boo'sMom 06-13-2006 08:51 AM

Erin--Love the new avatar! Hang in there for the long haul--there are a lot of gals here doing it without a center (hey--you have us). Many of us started where you did and look what a few months can do?? I wish I'd done this 10 years ago.

azgal32 06-13-2006 11:13 AM

Lea Ann,

Thanks for your kind words! :) Yeah, I figured out the avatar pretty quickly. I like yours too! I'll have to change mine again soon to show off my kiddos!

I cannot wait until I'm in your shoes...I would be at goal! :carrot: I AM going to stick it out, my mom loves this plan and I'm learning all of you do too. Yesterday, went really well starting Gold. Of course I now have a cold passed down from my kids, but it made the transition from Red to Gold much easier, not having that starving feeling.

Hey, how often do you change your weight loss tickers? Just curious!

Have a great day everyone and I appreciate your support on my journey!

Erin

Boo'sMom 06-13-2006 11:30 AM

I change my ticker weekly--after official COD weigh in's. It hasn't changed in quite a while but that's normal for me. It's only a matter of time before you are in my place --just think--by Christmas you should be there easy! I have to put everything in a time frame--I was SUPPOSED to be on maintenance before vacation but didn't make it. Oh well--pretty content right now. Sorry about the cold--we seem to have a lot of sick chicks! Get better.

dolphn545 06-13-2006 11:37 AM

I change my ticker after weekly WI as well, but only if there is a loss to show. I don't like to move it in the opposite direction! :)

Tomkyn 06-13-2006 12:45 PM

I'm doing the program without the center as well. I went to the center several years ago and while it was great, it's a little over my budget. Also, I prefer these boards over going to a center any day.

Good luck ! The losses do feel so good.

azgal32 06-13-2006 12:53 PM

Thanks Tomkyn! Yes, I agree...people around here are motivating enough for me. Good luck to you! Have a great day!

Erin

Karla B 06-13-2006 12:54 PM

How do you know how to do it on your own?

azgal32 06-13-2006 01:04 PM

Karla: My mom is a paid member and is sharing her information with me. :)

Same here. 6-7.

Which is actually alot when you weigh it out. :D

Boo'sMom 06-14-2006 08:28 AM

In DH's purple book the Chicken (breast and ground white meat) are 8oz, everything else is 6-7. I think the chicken number always sticks in our head since that's what we eat the most of. Plus, that's raw weight so it's 7 oz. cooked. It's still a heck of a lot of meat!

austinmom 06-14-2006 11:44 AM

I think its a good thing I am on blue. I am a starch girl and would go crazy with only 2 starches...
Blue (with lites) is
2 1/2 P
3 V, 3 S, 3 F, which works excellent for me...

azgal32 06-14-2006 12:58 PM

I'm also a starch girl, Austin'sMom! I switched Monday from the Red plan to Gold. I now only have 2 starches. I thought it would be really hard for me going from 4 to 2, but surprisingly it hasn't. I have basically had one with lunch and one with dinner...works for me! I just feel that I am eating so much healthier now that I am incorporating more fruits and veggies into my eating. It really is a good, sound plan! I started it right after Memorial weekend and have lost 4.5 lbs. so far. I am definitely sticking with it! I feel I am eating so much healthier! Have a good day!

Erin

austinmom 06-14-2006 07:06 PM

That wouldn't be so bad, but normally I have oatmeal mixed with applesauce for breakfast...
Are you liking LAWL well then?

shennie_97 06-14-2006 07:34 PM

sorry, I was thinking chicken for 8oz (raw) purple is 2oz more than gold/blue/green

azgal32 06-14-2006 07:48 PM

AustinMom: Yes, I really like the LAWL plan. I think it is a very healthy way of eating. I used to do Weight Watchers before this and would use most of my points eating a bunch of processed junk. You can't get away with it on LA really. I could really see me eating like this forever. Never before have I eaten this many fruits and veggies...for me personally! Also, I am drinking SO much water instead of all the Diet Cokes. Now I am limiting mine to 2/day, although most days I only have one because I am so full with the water. Have a great day and good luck to you! I'll be here if you need anything.

 Hi AZGAL32 didn't I read that you are here in tucson? So am I, I have my first appointment tomorrow morning at 8:00 at the LA Weight Loss Center on Broadway. I ran accross this site by mistake. This seems to be a very supportive site. I really don't know what to expect. I just keep hearing that it is expensive. I don't know what expensive is but I will find out tomorrow. By reading all these it seem to be a good program and people seem to really lose the pounds I have tried everything. I sure hope this works for me. It would be neat to have a buddy in the same town.

Bye for now,
Carole

How do you add the ticker to your postings I have only had experience with these threads when I took on line classes. I don't have that much experience with threads. Please help.

UPDATE: i figured it out!!!!!! Yah

Boo'sMom 06-15-2006 07:57 PM

pittbull lover--go to UserCP (on the purple line) at the top of the page, click on edit signature, then there are instructions on how to add a ticker. Let us know if you have any problems! Good Luck--you will love this site for support, information, and friendship. I lived in Kingman AZ the past 10 years (until this past Fall).

Pittbull Lover 06-15-2006 08:15 PM

Hi Boo'sMom, thanks. What part of texas did you move to I was born and raised in houston and moved out here to arizona about 14 years ago. Are you doing the LAWL? I am going to see about starting it tomorrow, I have heard good and bad. I guess I will find out for myself. I just hope I can afford it because if I can loose the weight and keep it off. That is worth it to me. What is working for you WOW you have lost 30 lbs and have only 8 to go. Good for you. Was it hard. One of my problems is that I HATE to exercise I work rotating shift work so it is hard for me to eat on a regular schedule. Please help.

dolphn545 06-15-2006 08:22 PM

Carole - :welcome3:
when you meet with your LAWL center tomorrow (a/k/a COD), they will go over the pricing and everything with you based on how much you want to lose. It may seem pricey, but that's because you're expected to pay for your weight loss, maintenance and stabilization all up front. Then when you go back in a couple of days, they will try to convince you to buy their LA Lites (candy bar type thing). Some people do use the lites, some don't. The program CAN be successful without the lites.
I don't really eat on a schedule neither. My COD encourages eating something, at least a bite, every 2-3 hours from the time I wake up until bed. The rationale is to keep your metabolism working!
Glad you found us. You will find lots of support on these boards! :)

Boo'sMom 06-15-2006 08:28 PM

We live outside of Amarillo--far from your side of the state! Grew up in West Texas though. Loved my time in AZ but glad to be "home".

Yes, I am doing LAWL, started Dec 30th. DH did it too and lost 42 lbs--guys stink when dieting! I personally love the program because it was/is pretty easy to stick to and they give you so many options. Just be sure and tell them your crazy schedule for them to be able to pick the best plan for you (if you should decide to do it). It's funny you asked because I just went through the WHOLE thing with my sister today, she is considering it for the Fall. You will hear plenty of bad about the program (mostly the $$) but not here. It is expensive but I would do it all over again. My loss was slow but I am now ok with that. It's very balanced and you can eat a lot of different foods--you just have to learn how to count it. I don't exercise but I am sure it would be easier if I did. I will tell you one hard truth: don't get too wrapped up in the 2 pounds per week thing--the smaller you are the less you will lose weekly--maybe not in the beginning, but it definitely slowed the closer I got to goal. Just me. Keep reading this site and you will learn TONS!!! I sure did and still do everyday. Good Luck and just ask all the questions you need--someone will know the answer.
