My grocery bill is astonishing, too. Sometimes I think DH has to bite his tongue on that one. Really, though, I am looking so great these days, I don't think that he can complain!!

OK ... This strictly MY opinion ....

I paid for the program 6 years ago (OMG has it been that long !) and went to the center 3x's a week and I did really well, was 10 lbs from goal and found out I was pregnant with baby #3 (who is now 4 1/2) I did pretty well through my pregnancy and didn't gain back all the weight I had lost, but did keep on 25 lbs. I never went back to the center, I was out of weeks and we didn't have the money to reinvest at the time, nor do I now. I have been doing the LA plan on and off since and can not seem to find the motivation to keep at it. I do really well for a while and then I guess I get "tired" of all the dieting and watching. I know for me the structure, the weigh in's and the financial investment was a big part in keeping me motivated and on plan ... I didn't want to fail. Now doing it on my own, I have no one to be accountable to except myself an "I" let myself get away with way too much !;)

Just my 2 cents .... Good Luck with whatever decision/diet/plan/way of life thatt you choose !

Okay just to let everyone know, I use the title fatgirl cause I like it. I don't have self hate issues, it just fits me right now. nuff said about that. I went to my doctor today and my blood pressue was very high. She recommended I try weight watchers. She herself has lost 80lbs and kept it off for over 3 years. So that is my plan for now. Guess I am heading over to the WW threads. Thanks for all the opinions!!! And I mean that.

Hello, I'm new here, I was so happy to see this thread. I agree LAWL is a little pricey, but I figure it's worth it.

Honestly, at $3/week, you can refuse to do bars (and just get more regular food).
Are you allowed to refuse to do the bars? When I signed up they made it seem like you had to do them or you couldn't go on the plan. I'm paid up till March with my bars, I was hoping I wouldn't have to buy them again.

No, you do not have to do them. I don't, and I am losing just as well as everyone else.

you don't have to use the bars, but of course they make you think that at a lot of centers. here on the board, Katie, Andi, Beanie, Karen and Mary (who is now pregant, so she is not officially on program anynmore) have lost wonderfully without bars.

I will run out too, so I might just by them off of e-bay for a while, but I do not plan on having the bars in maintenance at all, so i shouldn't have many to buy since i bought up to half of maintennce (but added 8 weeks of WL last week)

Repo, do you substitute more food choices in place of the bars?

Yes, they started me on red without bars, now I am on blue without bars. Had I done the bars I think that I would have been on purple to start.

My center let me pay mine out and it was 800.00. My center is really nice and they're real good. It is in edmond oklahoma. They are willing to work with u and help u out. Cause I was doing something wrong with the starches and they caught it. they are getting some new faces and I really only want certain counselors.
