LA lites
Hello Ladies,
I just had a questions about the LA lites. I told a councelor today that I might not buy them after I ran out of the boxes I bought in bulk b/c they are too expensive. She went on to say that I will lose wieght 30% slower if I don't use the bars. The thing is I have been lying about eating two bars a day. Sometimes I don't eat any and sometimes just one. I am in my third week at LA weight loss and have done well. I told her what someone posted about the Luna bars and she didn't like the idea. I was also wondering if anyone knew how my diet (food I am allowed) would change if I didn't buy them. I am on the red diet. Any thoughts would be appriciated. |
Hi Brandy,
I only do the one la lite per day. They think I'm doing 2 a day, but I can't afford that and frankly I don't know where I'd fit it in. This is more food than I ever ate before the program! I just tell them I buy them on ebay - they can't prove you don't - they want you to eat both, of course, to make extra $$$$ - they work on a commission. I've lost 15 pounds in 30 days so having one bar a day never hurt my plan either and I'm 50 years old with OA and don't exercise AT ALL. There is some sort of guarantee that they cover you if you don't lose the weight, but that's WITH eating the two bars a day - that's why I just tell them I am - I'm on the red plan also - |
I don't think that any sales person would like to hear that they would loose their commission and you would get the same results with something cheaper, so keep that in mind. Karen lost without any lites, so it can be done. Also my other thought would be to just not tell them, say you got them off e-bay.
I really wonder where that number came from, I would ask for it in writing next time, because at my old center i know they useto make up some of the stuff they said. Once they told me that their supplements are the only ones that can work with the diet, because other supplements aren't made for "healthy living" and one also said that they could actually feel the cellulite go away with the pills. but you are doing great, just substitute for something similar like Luna bars, or ask about the plan with the more food, and if you don't like that go back to the lunas...work your plan to fit your needs. |
the gaurantee also is based on you never going off program. I found that out the day i fought them over my 6" corn tortilla and they said that that would be looked it when i say I didn't reach 2lbs a week, they only gaurantee when "you can be committed"

I have been on the program for about 10 weeks and have lost 27.8 lbs. I have never eaten the Lites except the free ones they gave me. I eat the Luna bars. One or two a day-depends on how hungry I am. I just write in my journal "Bar" and tell them I get the Lites off of the Internet. They did not like that but tough! I do not take any supplements either. So, that makes about 3 lbs a week without all of THEIR STUFF. I refuse to give them the money for the high priced items they have.
|
I have lost 34 lbs w/o EVER eating their bars except the free ones in the beginning - I was also told my weight loss would be MUCH slower w/o the lites. I'm averaging 1.8 lbs a week!
The bars are a rip-off and their BS about them being some sort of magic bar just makes me crazy. |
Thanks for the info!! Does anyone know how the plan will change if I tell them that I am not going to eat the bars.
|
Okay I saw that this was LA weightloss topic and yeah.. I havent done LA weight loss but I had a chance to because a lady I nannied for worked as a manager for them.. I personally think how it's set up is unhealthy.. and she used to tell me that they didnt care if people lost weight the only thing that they really looked at was how high their sales were going... I spend quiet a bit of time in their center and always felt icky when there.. but that's me personally and that was all a little off topic... the real static as far as the la lites is they only really help you lose about 5-7% faster than if without them... I've seen the papers they sent on how to sell em and yeah.. they say if you even do just 1/2 a day you'll do pretty well...

I would like to let you know that I have never eaten the bars, since i am alergic to eggs, they told me that I could not even have the free box. I am loosing at a pace of 1.8 / week. The way they told me to do the red plan is to just eat all your food and cross out the lites in the book. They never told me to eat more or anything. After reading everyone's notes, I don't think the lites are that big of a deal! Hope this helps, other wise I WI tomorrow and I can ask!! |
Emmabenmom- your stats are AWESOME!!! Thats an amazing loss in 10 weeks!
|
I'm glad the LA prog is working for you guys... my old boss was def kinda jerk.. so yanno...
|
how many calories and fat do the la light have? i can't afford to buy them.
|
their are lots of different lites (soups, bars, drinks) so there isn't one answer to that.
If you can't buy them, you can ask to have your plan changed to a "all food" plan or you can replace the bars with a similar bar. the bar that is most like the LA lite bars are the luna bars. |
I can't believe you are able to do LAWL without bars. It was presented to me as a necessity and I paid UPFRONT $1000 for enough Lites for 34 weeks.
Only by reading here have I found out it was not absolutely necessary. Do I feel like I have been "Taken"....You bet!! Rosie |
Yeah, some centers are that way.
|
Glad my center isn't like that. I told them I couldn't afford them as I had just lost my job, after I had paid for the program. I purchased 5 boxes that equal 2 a day, but once those are gone it will depend if I can afford more or not. My plan is to have one a day, unless I want more then one. I do feel my center is there to help me succeed.
|
I feel like my Center is there to make all the money they can - they are always pushing supps on me, and I even bought one against my better judgement. I am a retired Senior Citizen and can't really afford all this!
There were a number of newbies at the Center today, most of them "Oldies" like me and I keep wondering how they can afford it. |
You really don't "have" to buy anything from them. I just say no thanks and that is the end of it, but if they keep pushing you, I would consider calling the 800 # and complaining, because I think that not telling that the lites are optional is really dishonest of them.
|
Interesting you would say that - I read in my newspaper a couple of days ago that the State Attorney General's office is settling claims because the two Centers in my city have been misrepresenting the program costs to increase enrollment and then pushed the sale of protein bars and supplements. Wonder if I have a case?
|
No more lites.
I just wanted to say that I am on the Red 1 plan and don't do the lites. I was on the Red plan and told them that I couldn't afford it so they just moved me up one plan. I'm exactly sure but i think the only difference is that Red 1 has one more starch & 1 more fruit.
I was actually lying about eating them and got tired of it. Since they switched my plan I don't get any grief and they are really good about it. Terry |
Good for you Terry!
You know, Rosie, if you really do not want to do the lites, maybe you should ask for your money back, and change plans. If they refuse, point out that you were never given an option, and you feel that they misrepresented themselves to you. Good luck with whatever you decide to do! |
I asked if I could buy the Lites on a month-to-month basis and was told I couldn't, but that I could set up a 90-day-same-as cash account and pay it that way, so that is what I did. (Through a finance company) But what I find deceptive is that I had already applied for credit with the finance company to pay for my program, and that passed! Then three days later when I went back to get the Blue program that they had set up for me, then I got hit with the high charges for the Lites, I really felt squeezed.

after reading this I was wondering what the "Luna" bars are? I agree with the cost - I feel thats one reason I put my plan on hold. I couldn't keep going if I wasn't 100% faithful.

Hi!
I am new to LAWL (just finished the Express Diet yesterday). As a college student, I too, am very interested in learning more about the Luna bars. Are they exactly the same - as far as nutrition facts? I got my "free" samples yesterday and go back on Thursday - I will not be purchasing any lites because they are so expensive and I cannot afford them. I appreicate all the feedback and it makes me feel better to know that it is possible to lose weight without the bars. ~Lacey |
nutritonal values?
Hi every one I am so glad to find you all I fell upon this great site while looking for nutritional value of la lite bars I use to be on the plan last year and now need to go back on as the weight is back after a long bought of unemployment and moving. I am trying to get back on track but as you all know the cost of the bars are large and the program is even worse so I hope to succeed on my own and would like to try and find a equivalent bar in the market. If someone could please provide me with a nutritonal value breakdown it would be great and hopfully we can help support each other in our weight loss. thank you all for your help so glad to find you.

I will check out the luna bars and post my findings hope you all have a good night.
|
Rosie~ My old center was really sales focused and I got to the point I hated going there. The one I go to know has one girl in particular who will talk to customers on the phone about the plan while you are sitting there she is so money hungry, but there are others ones who have never tried to sell me a thing. I just tell them “nope” when they do ask me.
As far as lunas go, many people here have substituted them with no problem, they are the closest thing to lites. If you do try to get another bar please be sure to look at the sodium because many of them are high in sodium. |
Luna Bars
Where can Luna Bars be purchased? Anyone from the Minneapolis area in Minnesota know about this? I would like to try them before buying a lot of them.
|
On another site a LAWL counselor suggests using PRIA bars instead of Luna because..."As for the bars I prefer the Pria snack size. They have 1/2 the amount of fat and a whole lot less sugar than the lite bars. If it is cost you are worried about get some of those at your local wholesale club, they will do the same thing for you cheaper and they taste better than the Luna IMO."
|
Prias are good:)
|
Luna's have a website (it is under the name of the larger compnay though) do a search for luna's and the website has a where to find products link.
|
Jacki - I'm from southern Minnesota and I find the Lunas and Pria bars at any grocery strore (Hy-Vee, Cubs, or Cash Wise) and I've also found them at Wal-Mart and Target. The cheapest place so far is Wal-Mart, but Cash Wise has the best selection. Look in the organic or pharmacy areas of the store to find them.

Ladies,
I just wanted to clarify - the L A Lites ARE NOT required to do the program. However, they ARE REQUIRED in order to secure your guarantee. Your contracts should state this clearly when you sign up for the program. Instead of substituting for the Lites, you should have your plan readjusted by a Counselor or the Center Manager. We actually have a workup plan for clients who do not use the Lites or are ineligible (due to medical situations). For instance, if you would normally be on GOLD, but choose not to use the Lites, more than likely you would be adjusted to PURPLE without Lites. In some cases, we even have clients who only use the Lites when needed. In most cases, we then have them count it on their plan as 1/2 protein, 1/2 fruit and a starch. Just remember, without the Lites, you may lose the benefit of the soy protein, and your program will not be guaranteed. So, if you don't lose the weight during your weightloss wekks, you will need to purchase more. It also voids your rebate. Hope this helps! |
LA Lites??
Hello,
I'm new and I was reading the threads regarding the LA Lites. I know for me I have spent ALOT of money for my membership, and then to find out that I have to pay even more for LA Lites. Just taking them this last week..I realized that I really don't need them. I am on the purple plan and it requires me to have 2 LA Lites per day. I bought enough for 12 weeks, which was over $250. I realized after doing the plan for the past week, that I really don't need to have 2 per day. What do I tell the counselor? Do I let her know that I plan to substitute a different bar, such as Luna or Pria?? Can I get any advice to see what I can do to stay on the plan, and save money?? Thanks Katy |
Katy, your rebate will be voided if you don't use the lites, but buying the lites is more than your rebate.
You can be moved to a food only plan or you can substitute lunas and it is your choice to tell the counselors, but most are not happy with you substituting. |
Thanks Shennie!! I think that I will talk to them about moving to a different plan or only taking 1 LA Lite a day..I think that I can afford that.
|
i doubt that they will let you do one a day, just so you will know
|
I don't do the lites at all, just more food. I like it.
|
Are you on a plan where you need to have the lites??
