Mary - I didn't start out at 4.0 - it takes time and your off to a great start!
Oh and I still sweat too.

MaureenM 07-19-2005 11:44 AM

1 hour treadmill @ 4.0-4.2 with a 5.0 incline, elliptical and weights :)

vibrantecho 07-19-2005 12:00 PM

I'm baaa-aack! :dizzy:

DH and I joined a new gym closer to our new house (which reminds me, I need to cancel my membership at the other one!) last week. It's a totally different type of place - in fact it's just one big room with cardio equipment along one wall and a bunch of weight machines in the middle and some free weights at the back - it's 24 hours, but there's no staff except the manager who's there about 3 hours a day. DH and I went in this morning and he walked me thru all the weight equipment - which I'll probably never use, cause in my experience horseback riding works all those major muscle groups anyway. :strong:

And that's another exciting thing - I get to start riding my horse again this week!!! (For those of you who have NO idea about me, my horse had a baby about 3 weeks ago, so I haven't been riding her for about 6 weeks now.)

I'm hopefully getting a new job this week (it's for my mom, so it's a done deal as long as we can agree on a salary I can live on and she can afford) that will allow me more time to ride during the day while DH is working and DD is in school, and also then DH and I can hit they gym together in the mornings - me on the treadmill or the other funny eliptical-stepper thing (can't think of what it's called offhand) and DH doing his weights. :tread: :strong: Cool, huh? Fingers crossed for me! :crossed:

Fiona - Girl - you never stay still one minute - your are always in some kind of change. I guess that will keep you young.......
Is the other cardio machine your thinking about just an eliptical machine? The gym sounds like the one I go to - nothing fancy - just enuf to get down to business. Nothing wrong with that...
congrats on the new job with your mom, sounds great!

vibrantecho 07-19-2005 12:45 PM

It's definitely not an elliptical, but similar - that low-impact type movement. The foot pedals sort of...swing?...kind of like the Tony Little Gazelle only way more high tech. Sort of a cross between an elliptical and a Nordic Track.

Star 07-19-2005 01:02 PM

Oh thanks, I guess I've never seen one of those.......

vibrantecho 07-19-2005 01:37 PM

I'm scouring the internet and I can't find a picture because I can't think of what the $%^& thing is called or who makes it...grrr.

Fiona

Star 07-19-2005 01:45 PM

Doesn't that drive you crazy........lol

Star 07-20-2005 08:48 AM

Gym this a.m. - Weight circuits - 45 minutes, inner/outer thighs and abs........

Star 07-21-2005 09:36 AM

Cardio day at the Weight Station - whoo-hoo...45 mintues 4.0 - same stuff.
Note: last night I had a colonic cleansing - my stomach feels smaller? Anyhow this might be TMI but it is a treatment for consipation.....sorry.
WHERE are all you fit chicks?

Star 07-21-2005 12:53 PM

Mary - Sad to admitt there was no noticable loss on the scale this morning. But I am going for 5 more weekly sessions. The way it might help is that it could correct my constipation problem. Also I will continue to cleanse so maybe that will effect the weight alittle down the line.....(or down the tube...lol)

auditgirl 07-25-2005 07:52 AM

hey fit chicks,

Exercise is still going well, but went to a party saturday night and did myself some serious (scale) damage. Monday walked 3.6 miles, Tuesday no exercise (went to see women's tennis tournament in cincy), Wednesday & Thursday, walked 3.6 miles each day. Friday, 45 minutes cario at gym and 20 minutes weight training, Saturday I walked 3.6 miles and Sunday was 50 minutes cardio at the gym and 20 minutes of weight training. I've got 33.5 days or so to undo the damage from Saturday before I repeat it again next week. We are heading to Iowa to visit family and always eat and drink ourselves silly!

Take care,
Jen

Star 07-25-2005 08:34 AM

Hi Jen - Girl - you are killing me with your exercise plan - I'm ashamed of my measley routine now - boo-hoo. No really - you are doing awesome. I love it that you always have so much fun and are often in a state of repair - you and me would be dangerous together....lol I know this isn't right but I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one that has a normal life and still attemps to do LAWL....lol

Mary - Girl - get rid of the spandex flip flops. Atleast when you are exercising - you are lucky you didn't kill yourself.....But keep up the workout!

Today was circuits with weights - tomorrow will be cardio......

Star 07-25-2005 09:08 AM

Mary - Here' an idea for - how about going to the video store and renting some workout tapes there - just to find something you like? I don't know much about tv exercise shows becuz I work and have never taped anything. I'm sure you will find something. Can you watch tv from your treadmill?

This is the wrong thread - but congrats on coming to an agreement with DH about planning your family! Good for you on sticking to your guns, your health should come first in this whole issue, becuz without that you can't take care of two babies (well maybe three counting DH)....lol

Star 07-25-2005 12:50 PM

Mary - I see your problem with the interstate noise.....lol If I were a stayed at home I know I would be tuned in to all the exercise shows. Most of the one's here are just starting when I have to be getting ready for work.....

And please save the Darwin awards for those chicks that don't exercise......

vibrantecho 07-25-2005 10:28 PM

Hey getting-fit chicks...

30 min on the treadmill tonight - avg'ed about 3.0 speed (someimes 3.2, sometimes 2.8, but mostly 3.0) and 2.0% incline. Discovered that on the pre-programmed workouts on the treadmills at the new gym, there's no speed control! It was going at 3.5 and everytime I dialed it down, it sped back up again! :tread: That's me, not keeping up!!! So I gave up on that and was manually playing with all the buttons. :D

My exercise goal for the next two weeks is to get on the treadmill 3x/week, then in two weeks I'll be able to start riding again (hopefully) so I'm going to try and ride 3x and gym 2x/week.

Later, chickies! It's bedtime! :cloud9:

Gym this a.m. - Cardio day - same ole same ole......

Star 07-27-2005 08:58 AM

Gym - Circuit Day - oh rah......

henrygirls 07-27-2005 12:08 PM

You Chicks are great motivators! I had a session with my trainer today - did alot of suisse ball work. We are basically working on core stability because my back and ankle have been bothering me.

Walked into the high street yesterday to do my errands (about 2.5 miles round trip). I have been averaging 9,000 steps a day! YEAH!

Star 07-27-2005 03:48 PM

Mary -
Thanks for the thumbs up on my working out. I love to exercise, fat or thin.......but from now on it will be thin.....

about working out at a higher heartrate - rethink that please. If you work out too fast you are only gonna be buring blood sugars. If you work out at 65 to 75% of your target heart rate you will be burning stored body fat. What that means is you can probably slow down...... In this thread somewhere maybe mid-way we talk about this in detail....if I remember correctly.

Hugs -

This is a GREAT chart!!!

Star 07-28-2005 08:18 AM

mary - can you put your feet on the side of the belt while you on your treadmill? If so then all you need to do is count your pluse for 10 seconds and add a zero......
I don't remember how old you are but what you said sounds right......

Star 07-29-2005 09:34 AM

Gym this a.m. - Circuit train - 45 minutes and inner/outer thighs.......TGIF off til Monday.......Oh-Rah

Star 08-01-2005 09:43 AM

Monday - August 1st - Circuit Train Weight day - and thigs.......
DH is hooking up the VCR today (hasn't been hooked us since we moved on April 1st) that means I will be able to do my ab tape and Bun Roller tape at home everyday again.......

Star 08-02-2005 09:16 AM

Hi Star - how are you? Oh I'm good Star - glad to see you back.....lol

Cardio - 45 minutes treadmill at 4.0 - 3.25 miles
Beach Body AB tape
Bun and Thigh Roller

MetalChic 08-02-2005 09:47 AM

:lol3:   You are too funny Star....

I need to get motivated so I can be stubborn on the exercising. I just haven't managed to get started. I just need to get started enough to make it a routine. Once I do that, I will like the benefits of exercise and continue to do it. I actually like the way it makes me feel. It's just a pain to get started again...... :halffull:

Anyone have any ideas?

Star 08-02-2005 09:51 AM

karen- it only takes 21 days to form a habit (good or bad).
Why not just start walking? Start out with 15 minutes and add on to that as you feel stronger,......Do you have any home equipment or videos?
I think you would really benifit from working out now.....

MetalChic 08-02-2005 10:07 AM

I don't have any home equipment. The only videos that I have are the one that LAWL gave me when I started and I think another one that is way to extreme to be starting with. I tried it before and about died :faint: trying to keep up. I really don't have the room in my house for exercise videos. There is a couch and a table close to the TV. Not to mention, I'm rarely home alone; and I hate to exercise in front of anyone. They look at me like I'm crazy :dizzy: I thought about walking the neighborhood in the evenings, but it is so late when I finish dinner. I can't afford a gym membership right now. I can't afford any exercise equipment or attire (I can't exercise with a normal bra ;)) at the moment.

I guess I'm going to have to bite the bullet and dave for some weights :strong: a treadmill :tread: and some workout clothes.....

Oh, did I mention that I hate to sweat?

Star 08-02-2005 10:18 AM

Karen, Well you are stubborn and you do have quite the list of excuses there....lol
last year I was gonna buy a cheap workout bench for the basement. Well DH went with me and we ended up (thanks to him) buying a really nice Natilus workout bench with all the weights and a whole set of Nautilus Free weights. BECUZ he was gonna start working out. WELL needless to say - I loved the bench and weights, used it everyday - HE never got started......lol
Before you buy all the equipment - start out walking - make DF cook.....

MetalChic 08-02-2005 10:31 AM

Yes, I do have quite a list of excuses. I just have to start eliminating them....

DF is not going to cook...:lol3: I am going to have to work on the time issue.

I am off on the weekends. We usually do our grocery shopping on the weekends. It has become a ritual of sorts. We go to Sams Club, Walmart, and usually Harris Teeter, Lowes, and Food Lion before the weekend is out. I bargain shop.....

I may just have to exercise on weekends. I guess that would be better than not exercising at all... huh?

If I were to exercise on Saturday and Sunday, would that be enough? I haven't figured out how to make enought time to exercise during the week.

What do you think?

Star 08-02-2005 10:35 AM

I think something is better than nothing. And I think you spend too much time grocery shopping - lol
Start walking on Sat and sunday and is there anyway you can swing getting a Wed in there?
Star

MetalChic 08-02-2005 10:38 AM

I'm going to try that. I'm not sure about Wed, but I'm going to try.

And, YES I do too much grocery shopping. But, I eat good :)

Star 08-02-2005 10:42 AM

.

I'm just jealous - becuz I hate grocery shopping and cooking.......
I think once you get started you will like it so much you'll just naturally want to do it more........(kinda like  )
