Default Sushi?

Has anyone figured out if Sushi can fit no plan? I do know that the soya will cause a temp weight gain! But I still want to know what to count salmon rolls as and how many can I have etc?

I don't do LAWL but I tried sushi for the first time today. I had 3 brown rice spicy shrimp rolls (around 75 cals) and 3 brown rice salmon and avocado rolls (around 75 cals).

Totally low cal, delicious, and filling!

Hi Tan,
I think that the problem with having sushi is how can you really tell how much of each food group you are actually getting. But if I had to guess - the rice would be 1 starch and 1/2 cup cooked rice is probably equal to about 4 regular size rolls, and then the salmon would maybe equate to 1 protein, and I would just scratch your fat/condiments for the day too.
To help combat the fluid retention drink lots of water with lemon - natural diuretic.
Hope this helps!

I've always treated sushi as my complete starch allowance for the day. For the real stuff, they use a very starchy rice that is much more starchy than minute or brown rice.

I usually have veggie rolls, so I also count it as one veg serving.

Liz goes for the sashimi more than the sushi, so that would count as 2 starches and one protein since that stuff usually has a large portion of (raw - yuck) fish or seafood.

I usually count it as 2 st 1 pr and 1 fat! I love Shushi! And I usually have a whole roll which is like 8 small rolls. Obviously I don't have it all the time. And most of the places we go have low sodium soy!

OH!! One thing I forgot to mention is that it seems that many places, for some reason, mix mayo into their rice. Not sure why.. Maybe it's to improve "stickiness"...

Anyway, I always ask for it without the mayo mixed in...

Tan

Avacado Roll (6 pcs) 2 starch, 1 fat
California Roll 1 veggie, 2 starch, 1 fat
shrimp rolls 1/2 protein, 1 veggie, 2 starch
sashimi (6 pcs.) 1 protein
Tuna Roll, Seafood, vegetables 1/2 protein, 1 veggie, 2 starches
Salmon Roll 1/2 protein, 1 veggie, 2 starches, 1 fat

Each "roll" is generally 6 pieces. You always want to avoid the mayo or the "sauce" that the put on it. Drink extra water if you're using the soy/terr sauce!

Hope this helps some!
