I would love to hear for all the people using Alli. I have been doing low calorie and low fat diet already. Any advice... How much are you loosing? flatiron.. You are doing just great with it! You make me want to run not walk to wal -mart to get me a bottle...
Thanks in advance... |
I just used it for a week and lost 5 pounds. Probably because I am eating right and working out everyday but it keeps me honest!

i used alli back in 2006-2007 and hated it. i got treatment effects a few times... one accident and quitted taking it after i realized i wasnt losing weight or making smarter decisions. the only thing i noticed was my neck/chin area was smaller while taking it rather than how it was when i wasnt on it. that may not have been alli itself but rather me weighing less than i do now.
i have been on all sorts of diets and i realized that my own diet was the best. i have been on weight watchers.... lost about 12 lbs altogether but it was easy to mess up... and i gained it back because i was allowed to eat whatever i wanted. i did atkins... that didnt work simply because meats are my fave and i packed more on than i did losing it. i also did jenny craig but with no exercise AT ALL and lost a total of 17 lbs while on it... it was the most succesful diet but i didnt enjoy it much. i also tried eating south beach everyday and loveddd the food but it became expensive so i dropped that one too. last thing i tried was alli...and simply it did not work for me. after all these i decided i had to make my own diet choices... i made a list of good things to eat and made a grocery list every week and bought only what was on there and avoided ALL junk food / and sodas... the only thing i let myself have that isnt too healthy because of the artifical sweeteners is diet soda... but i incorporated lots of exercise into my daily routine and lost a good amount of weight doing so. another 17 lbs.... i gained those 17 lbs back because i moved to a new place/country where i no longer have the good weather, or access to a long flat road... and no more treadmill. but i have recently decided that i need to join a gym or there is no hope for me. it is simply too cold out here and wayy too much snow for me to do any type of outdoorsy exercise other than shoveling snow or picking up chopped wood for the fireplace (which i do do still but its not enough).... and i WILL be at my goal weight by this summer, i sure hope so! i just joined this forum today and im loving it so far... so much info and lots of stories to be inspired by! |
Ok here's my 3rd week weigh-in update! I missed one day at the gym this week so I only went 4 days but I'm up to 35 minutes of cardio as of yesterday. Friday had me a bit worried since my family went out to Charlie Brown's steak house but I'm proud of myself with how well I did. I ordered a small steak with a bake potato and I cut both in half and took the rest home. I also had a salad bar with it.
This past week I've lost another 3 pounds bringing me to 230.5! YAY! :) |

I started a diet Jan 5.. Tom came about the middle of that week. I lost like 16lbs during that week. ( which none has came back to I am happy about that) But not a thing since. I am up a pound and I go back down a pound. I started alli last Friday and I still have not seen the scales move. I exercise and drink water.. I am hoping that I will see results soon... Keep up your good work... |
I went ahead and bought a second bottle of alli just because I have lost 15lbs in just over a month taking it along with my diet and exercise. I am starting to think this is actually worth the money now because of the results. We will see after February. If I get results, like this month, I am definitely getting some more when this bottle runs out!

The very same exact thing happened to my little sister. She started Alli and didn't read the little books that came with it good enough. After much prodding she finally admitted to me that she just skimmed the books. She had ONE accident at work and then quit Alli. I got all the rest of her pills! :D I can't stress enough that you have to follow the plan exactly. That means you have to log everything you eat (why do you think a small food journal comes with it) and keep track of the fat intake and keep it under 15 grams per meal. That means NO estimating you have to know! Now I keep reading from people who have never taken Alli say "well why take Alli if you eat low fat??" For several reasons, one is that Alli is to dieting what antabuse is for alchoholics. If you have an iron will and absolutely have unwavering willpower then more power to you! Most people don't that's why it is so hard to lose weight in the first place. I can't tell you how many times in the last 50 days that I have been on Alli that I have thought twice (sometimes THREE times) about what I am about to eat. It is as if a a sentry is standing guard over me when I eat saying "go a head and eat that but you'll know you ate it tomorrow!" Another reason Alli works for me is for when I do mess up and eat too much... when I cave in to temptation... when the dirty deed is done and the next day I am feeling guilty about pigging out the day before. While I am on the toilet I can at LEAST say that 25% of the fat I ate is being eliminated. At least the moment of weakness is not a TOTAL loss! I have lost 35 pounds from Dec 1 and I have absolutely NO DOUBT this number is as high as it is because of Alli. How do I know? Because a friend and I started dieting tha same time. We joined Weight Watchers together. We work out at the YMCA together. I am on Alli and they are not. I have lost twice as much weight as they in the same amount of time and I probably eat more than them. Alli doesn't work for everybody but name a drug that DOES work for everybody?? I am very interested in the stories that I read about Alli failures because 9 times out of 10 if I deep deep enough I find that the person just took the pill and didn't make the neccessary dietary changes (or not enough) and when the plan fails they blame the drug. The Alli plan very simply states that if you diet and eat low fat and exercise and and lose 10 pounds if you take Alli doing the same thing you will lose 15 pounds. It's not a magic pill you have to work at it just like you do if you don't take Alli. It just gives you an extra added boost and I need all the help I can get! I have been on Alli for over 50 days now and I can honestly say that in those 50 days I have not had an accident anywhere. On the days when I did messed up (and there have been a few) I noticed that in the toilet the next day there were drops of oil floating in the water. This is exactly what the drug is supposed to do. I hope others are having success with Alli and for those that it doesn't meet your expectation... can I have your remaining pills??? :D JUST KIDDING! |
wchs2007...Thanks a lot and good luck to you! :)
flatiron...awesome post, I couldn't have written that better myself! It's because of Alli helping me to keep honest that I've actually been able to stick with somthing, anything, for this long. Now when my will power slips and I really want to eat the whole cake lol, I won't because I'll REALLY regret it later even if I did skip the Alli for that meal. I've never had the will power to do good on diets long enough to see any actual results, until now! :) |
WooHoo! Hello 220's! I've lost another 2.5 pounds this week making a total of 11 for the month and that puts me at 228 pounds!
11 pounds this month is not at all bad considering I had 2 birthday dinners, my dad's first scan since surgery to remove a huge cancerous tumor, a car accident, and stabbed myself in the eye with a screwdriver accidently lol (sounds worse then it really is!). I guess I just really have my mind set on not giving up no matter what and it seems like luck is trying to test my limits this month. I'm starting to get addicted to my workouts at the gym just like I used to which is great but I thought it would take longer to feel that good again. The gym is constantly renovating and putting in new stuff and right now they are working on a yoga/pilates studio. It looks like they are almost done with it so I can't wait for those classes to start up! I love yoga and pilates but I've only tried them a few times. Oh well I'm off to do some grocery shopping now and then off to the gym. Hope everyone is doing well! :) |

NOW... I do an hour a day and YES 1hour a day on the elliptical on the "weightloss" which is intervals of easy and super hard every 5 minutes. I do it first thing in the morning everday at the YMCA and I feel like it is an old routine now. Gypsy Love good luck on losing LOT's more weight you can do it! :carrot: |
I took Alli for several months and also have positive things to report. My ideas are in line with what Flatiron reports. It offered me slightly quicker results than dieting and exercise alone. Alli does work if you follow the program. It is not a magic bullet. If you don't change your nutriton and move, it will do you zero good. As to the side effects, it wasn't difficult to manage them. As long as I stayed on plan the effects were minimal. The big Alli books are at Dollar Tree stores everywhere now--it's a great book and worth a read even if you are not doing Alli. I would not hesitate to use this product again and I definitely do recommend the pill but also the Alli program.

Congrats on the huge exercise improvement! :cp: I'm up about 10 minutes in my workouts and intensity so far. I started at 25 minutes at level 5 resistance and now I'm doing 35 at level 7 so I'm getting there little by little! Thanks for all the support! |
Was looking around and found you guys here. I too have taken Alli previously with no "serious" side effects. I lost 17 lbs. last fall and wish I hadn't stopped taking it. I started them again last week. I only have one negative thing to say about Alli. They cost so darn much. They are a very good way to keep yourself honest and away from fatty foods. My MIL took orlistat years ago by prescription. I think that's what they called it. She lost like 70 some lbs. Even when they took her off of them she kept the weight off. I truely believe they boost my weight loss so I'll keep at it.

I'm on my 5th day of Alli. No treatment effects yet, but I've been watching what I've eaten for two weeks now. I am only taking one pill a day at breakfast. I had planned to start taking two next week, three the third. But after all the reading, I may just stick to one and see how well that does on it's own. I know I'm not getting the full fat blocking effects but I already have digestion issues and my doc agreed that pushing it wouldn't be a good idea.
The biggest thing I've noticed is that I'm just not as hungry as I was before. My appetite has really dropped off since starting on Monday. I'm also doing WW and it had been difficult staying within my points. This week I'm having a hard time using them. |
