AAAAAAAAAAA!!!!! OMG!!! Now I'm sick! My dad got me, my mom, and my brother all sick with his really bad cold and cough. So yea it's been almost 3 weeks since I've been to the gym now. I just don't understand why this stuff keeps happening to me! For once in my life I actually have the will to try and lose this weight, get back into shape, and just change my life in general but it just feels like it's not meant to be. Back to back bad things keep happening to stop me. When I don't try to change this stuff doesn't happen. WHAT'S GOING ON???
Sorry everyone I'm just so unbelieveably upset right now. |

As a general update, it looks like my TE have gone away. I have minor gas from time to time, but nothing like what happened when I first started Alli. I usually take 1 to 2 pills a day, although I would like to take it more regularly. Sometimes I just forget. I don't think Alli makes a huge impact on my weight loss, but I can tell it is working (I'll spare you the graphic evidence), and I'll take whatever minor difference it makes. I just bought a convection oven so I'm starting to eat more lean meats, and I think Alli helps shave off some of the calorie/fat absorbtion. If Alli helps save 25% of the calories from fat and the meal has less than 20 grams of fat, then Alli may make only a 54 calorie or less difference (I believe each fat gram has 9 calories) each time it's taken, even if it only applies to one of my daily meals. But I figure those 54 calories or less add up over time and I'd rather have them not be processed by my body. Edit: I just did the math. Assuming that one pound of fat is equal to 3500 calories and that only one meal per day on a low fat diet meets the criteria for Alli to work, then 54 calories saved a day makes a difference of 5.6 pounds a year. Not a lot when I look at it from that perspective, but I'll still take it. |
Well I haven't posted on here in a while and figured I give an update on my status so far.
I am still on Alli. I picked up another free bottlle from another friend (thats makes 3 bottles I have now one is not even opened yet! LOL) if anyone wants a free bottle starting asking co-workers, friends and family if they ever heard of Alli and sooner or later you will run into someone who bought the stuff but didn't read the books, had one bad experience with it because they ate too much fat and now you can get their bottle for FREE! LOL! I have been on Alli for 3 months and 3 weeks and I have lost as my ticker shows 49 lbs. I KNOW I wouldn't have lost that much without Alli. I think my body is now completely used to Alli. I have not had ANY side effects or problems at all in the last couple of months. I never really had anything bad anyways because I followed the plan exactly. I still take them 3 times a day even if a meal is extremely low fat because I want to keep a steady level of the drug in my body. In the beginning a few times I had a few feeling of urgency after a meal but haven't had that feeling in a long time. I have found that the cheapest place I have saw Alli is at Costco which is a bulk discount store if you don't have one around you. It's like BJ's or Sam's Club. I bought my second bottle at Costco using a $10.00 coupon. It was reg priced at $60.00 so I got it for $50.00 That first bottle I got at a Walgreen's and paid $70.00 for a 30 day supply. At Costco I got more pills too like 150 pills, Walgreen's was like 90 pills I think. Anyways I plan to stay on it a while longer. It's working so why mess with it? :carrot: |

I Purchased The Alli Pills Last Night And I Plan To Start Taking Them Today... I Am Very Over Weight And I Am Ready To Start His This Diet And Change The Way I Look. I Have Always Been Over Weight And I Have A Very Low Self Esteem... About Two Years Ago I Set My Mind On Losing Weight And I Succeeded... I Lost Almost 100lbs In About 5months... I Did This By Drinking Only Water And Eating Right And About A Month Into My Diet I Started Using Zantrex3... I Stopped Eating Right And Gained Some Of It Back... Then I Got Pregnant And Gained The Rest Of It Back And The Some Lol
I'm Hoping That Alli Will Help Me Not To Slip Up So Much On My Diet... I Found This Site While Researching Slim Force7... After Reading All The Stories I Knew It Was A Hoax... I Have Read Many Of The Comments On Alli And I Am Very Motivated By All The Success Stories... I Know That I Will Have To Do Most Of The Work Myself By Diet And Excercise But I Am Willing To Do So I Will Report My Progress On This Thread... Thanks To All Of You Who Have Shared Your Experiences But I Do Have A Few Questions... Will It Hurt To Take Energy/ Appetite Surpressants Along With Alli? And About The Treatment Affects... I Know This Is Gross But... I Have Very Regular Bowel Movements... I Have To Go To The Bathroom Right After I Eat Most Of The Time... I Am Wondering If This Means That I Will More Than Likely Experiance The Treatment Affects |
I am so glad to have found this. I have been seriously thinking about starting on Alli.
It has been a while though since anyone has really posted. How is everyone doing? Anyone still using Alli, and if so is it working? Am interested in hearing your stories and your progress. |
Hi all, Im new here. Started alli yesterday and also following Slimming world so glad I found this forum!
Could someone please advise me, my breakfast is usually fruit, yogurt and branflakes so is it a waste of a tablet to take with this? Should I keep it to take with my treat at night like a hot choc with some chocolate? Just as long as its under 15g fat? Thanks x |

Good luck with Alli. I think it is great program. I have lost 5 pounds already!:carrot: |
Just starting...
I just got the Alli starter pack. I'm nervous/excited about it. On one hand I like the fact that it will keep me away from really fatty foods(hopefully) and stay on track with my diet... but how much is too much fat? Or how much is not enough fat? I guess it will tell me in the packet.
I just hope the treatment affects aren't too...frequent. I don't want to have to "go" after I eat every meal. :?: Also I heard that taking it limits the absorption of vitamins. Should I be taking more than the daily vitamin I usually take? |

If I remember correctly from the book it does recommend taking a multivitamin but before you go to bed as it will go through your system at a time when alli isn't at work. That is unless you eat late and take one before bed! |
I started Alli about a week and a half ago and I haven't weight in yet but so far I really like it. First of all, I got to sign onto the website where I can plan my meals for the entire week and I get a shopping list. The recipes are EASY and most of them are pretty good, and I am starting to cook for the first time because I actually have all the ingredients to make some yummy, healthy meals!
I haven't started working out yet, mostly because I am going out of town next week for three weeks where I won't have access to weights. I might start going on walks there if I have a chance but either way I thought it'd be nice to get my body started on a diet first instead of trying to do too much too soon and getting burnt out and quitting altogether. I have had no treatment effects and I have had some meals where I did not take the pill in anticipation of going over my fat limit but I still kept myself from going overboard. For example, we went to a Chinese buffet and normally I pig out on the fried foods, but instead of I had a small portion of beef and chicken, some white rice, and fruit for dessert. |
Okay I just read my above post over and I obviously did not proofread. What I meant to say is that I had chicken and broccoli at the Chinese restaurant
|
Hi Jadebatdog! I just noticed your height, start, and goal are very close to mine! You can do it!!! Yea I know that was random but I get excited when I see people with similar goals, it lets me know that my goal isn't to far fetched or out of reach. Take care! :)

I have a question about others who are following the Alli diet plan along with taking the pills. For the past couple of days I have not been hungry enough to eat the snacks that are suggested with the plan. Do you think it's a big deal if I don't eat them? I'm supposed to be eating 1800 calories per day but without the snacks I have been getting about 1600 calories per day. I don't want to eat if I'm not hungry, but I don't want to waste the Alli.
|
If you don't want to eat anything more you could try having a higher calorie drink? Something like a glass of milk would use up a few calories without it being full of sugar like coke.
|
that's a pretty good idea, thanks
I have one more question. Has anyone else accidentally taken two pills at once? Last night I ate dinner and I usually take the pill while I'm cooking, but I didn't remember taking it, so I took one. I got really bad "treatment effects" and it was exactly the same as what I've been eating pretty much every other night for dinner, so I think I must have taken two. It was also the first time I had ever experienced treatment effects. NOT fun, but easily avoided. |
Jade, I used Alli for a long time--Rx & OTC variety. The Rx was 120 mg.--the otc is 60 mg. each. Even if you took the extra pill, I don't think it would be deemed unsafe. Sorry you had the effects. :(
Alli seems to always be debated. I had success with it and wouldn't hesitate to use it again. If you stay on plan and follow the advice of the books provided in your first packet of pills, you will have success with minimal treatment effects. |

Try it your way for a week. If you are getting the results you want and are satisfied with your own way, stay the course. If you need to increase calories as Alli is stipulating, feel free too. Even with a plan like Alli, this journey takes some trial and error. |
Alli has opened my mind to healthier eating and because of it I have been on a "diet" for 3 weeks, longer then I've ever been on a diet in my life! So just because of that I consider Alli a success. I have lost 4 pounds so far with hardly any hunger, and I haven't had the urge to quit one time! People can make claims that Alli does not work but if I hadn't picked it up at Walmart that day, I would be 4 pounds heavier right now.
|
I also used Alli last year and I went from 207lbs to 184 lbs (the smallest I've been in 3 years). Due to other circumstances I stopped taking the pills.
I started at the gym over a month ago, started monitoring my eating habits and slipped off the wagon a couple times. Now I feel more stable and have reintroduced Alli to my diet and I'm hoping that i see the same results as I have previously. I've had treatment effects a once or twice but it is definitely avoidable. |
I was wondering about this drug. I work in a court so it is extremely hard to get to a bathroom when I need to. Basically it is impossible to duck out at times other than breaks. So taking this pill in the morning and at lunch is too dangerous. However I was thinking that I could take it at night and on the weekends or on a *part time* basis, ie whenever I don't plan to be in court. Anyone take Alli on a part time basis ?
|
I have been on the Alli plan since June 23 and am having huge success!! I have lost nine pounds and am so excited! But it is more than just the weight loss. For the first time I feel like I have control over my eating habits. I eat, and eat a lot more than when I was on a "diet" I don't get hungry, I don't binge, I make smarter choices while still getting to enjoy my food, and my "treats". I have had no treatment effects and have more energy. I have even begun working out again. I am so thankful for Alli. I know I am making changes that I can stick with, and that will be part of a new lifestyle change.
|
I've not been taking it every meal. At the moment I'm not taking it in the evening as my dinners are not very high in fat this week (I make up a load of meals at the weekend) but take it every lunch time. As I haven't really pushed the fat limits I've never had any of the treatment effects in fact I'm still very opposite!
|
I'm really confused. I've read all the material that came with my Alli, and I understand the basic guidelines and concept, but I have a couple of questions.
Currently, I eat pretty low fat (I know that the Alli plan is not necessarily low fat). But, since I eat low fat, if I take Alli, does that mean that I need to actually increase the amount of fat I consume so that I reach 15 grams per meal (according to the Alli chart)? I guess that just goes against everything that's been pounded in to my head relating to weight loss. And, once I've reach goal (being optimistic here!), if I discontinue taking Alli, do I decrease my fat intake to make up for the fat that Alli would have normally expelled? Sorry to be such a dummy, but I've read tons of info in the booklets, online and in forums and I don't know why the Alli concept is not falling into place for me. Since Sunday, I've adapted my meal plan to begin taking the pills (should have started today), but want to be totally comfortable of my understanding before I start. Thanks for humoring my ignorance! LOL! |

The target fat grams per meal is there to help you have something to aim for I think. My fat grams target was 19 per meal. If I ate 19 grams of fat or more my belly didn't really like it to much :barf: but at around 17 I felt good and didn't feel deprived. :spin: Also there's another reason for the higher fat grams with the Alli plan. Let's say 2 people are taking Alli and both are eating about 2000 calories a day. One person eats 19 grams of fat for all 3 meals which comes out to 513 calories just from fat a day. Alli takes care or 25% of that so this person gets rid of 128 of those fat calories. The other person eats 5 grams of fat for all 3 meals which comes out to 135 calories from fat per day. Alli takes care of 25% of that and this person loses only 34 of those calories. Increasing your fat grams will help you to feel fuller longer, will help you not feel deprived, and help you not fall off the band wagon as much. 128 calories doesn't seem like much but Alli is there not just for that but as insurance that you won't go overboard in your eating. If you take it with each meal regardless of how low fat that meal is it will build up in your system, that's the point. That's why you need to stop Alli a couple days ahead of time before going to lets say an all you can eat krispy kreme and big mac restaraunt :joker: lol! When you go off of Alli it still comes down to calories in vs. calories out so you can still maintain with higher fat grams you just may need to tweak it a little bit. Just watch it and see what happens. |
Started alli Yesterday. So far so good( No nasty side effects) whoo..
|
Hi...I just started last Thursday. I've been on the 1700 cal and 15-17 fat grams per meal. I've been hitting 1600-1700 and at least 15 grams per meal and try to stick to fat free/low fat items for snacks. I've actually started walking again and will start slow jogging soon. In 4 days I feel and sleep a heck of a lot better. I bought a 30 day supply so we'll see how the next 26 days go, and of course the first weigh in on Thursday.
I'm glad to see an Alli thread here and that I'm not the only one:-). Looking forward to watching it work and definitely in need of support. |
Well I guess this thread is now my own for awhile:-). Almost a week on Alli and I feel great, monitoring my diet and eating great. Exercised a couple of times. I work a full and a part time retail job so I'm pretty active anyways.
My success today was my trip to Burger King. I was driving between 2 stores and I was so hungry, so I went to BK the easier stop I could make. I bought the value meal of the Veggie burger, fries and a diet coke. I checked my manual for the veggie burger and it is 260 cals and 16 grams of fat. So i enjoyed the burger, ate 3 fries and drank my Coke. I can honestly say...did I miss the Whopper with Cheese and large fries? no... Thursday morning is my weigh day, one more day of eating better and we'll see how the first week went. But I had no side effects at all. Not even slightly. |
I took alli a while back, it seemed to work and I had treatment effects if i ate too much fat for the first few weeks. Then my body adjusted to it as it rapidly does with all weight loss pills, it stopped doing anything for me
|
Morning, I'll post here a little but have decided to blog too. They had Alli on sale last week so I picked up a 30 day supply. I figured that was enough time to get my habits back in line then I'm going to switch to calorie counting and running. Who knows though...It's not a cheap product but if put together the money in the last week that I didn't eat out and graze food at work I've probably close to made my money back:-). With the discount and rebate I paid $20 so well worth it so far. Again, we'll see weigh day tomorrow morning:-)....
|
WooHoo! 4 lbs last week. I got a little more active, drank a little more water, ate a little less calories..although I am scared to think about all the calories I took in per day unmonitored :-) if I'm losing when eating 1600-1800 cals per day. I'm on my way...
|
11 days in and still feeling pretty good. My energy level has jumped, I sleep better and my head is clearer. It's weird not spending all my time thinking about what I'm going to eat...with Alli when your done, your done...you need to retrain your brain to just go do other things. Now, don't get me wrong you cheat on this just like any other program but it doesn't make any sense to risk TEs or waste the money.
|
Well today was weigh day....1 1/2 lbs lost..not bad for eating 1800 calories per day. I'm also due for my TOM so I'm holding on to a pound or 2 of water weight but I feel like I'm really starting to get into great habits. I still feel fabulous, I'm 5 1/2 lbs down. My goal for the month on Alli is 10 lbs, then I'll make my decision from there. I've had no adverse effects and the money I'm saving on not ordering out or spending on junk food offset the cost of $20 I spent on a months supply. I'm keeping my calories at 1800ish, fat grams of 15-18 per meal and exercising a few times a week.
|
Morning,
Today is weight day and another 2 lbs lost. I'm at 165.5 and I have 1 1/2 lbs to lose to meet my goal of 10 lbs over the last 4 weeks. I've also made my decision to buy another months supply. What I would like to do is eat one lowfat meal per day and stretch the pills to a 6 week supply. That will take me to my birthday where my goal is 150. I feel fantastic. I've still had no intestinal trouble. I've saved money by not eating out and snacking on the run and grocery shopping. I'm a little more active. I try to get out and walk 3 times a week. I still don't drink my water ( I hate water) but maybe I'll give that a try this coming week. So I am 8 1/2 lbs down in 3 weeks, eating 1800 calories per day and 18 grams of fat per meal. I can so live with this :-). And my calories won't decrease until I'm at 145 when they go down to 1600 per the program. I can sooo live with that too. Have a great day! |
Wow your doing great! 8.5 lbs in three weeks is phenomenal
|
FYI,
I just posted a thread in "Does it Work?" about the FDA investigation of Orlistat aka Xenical aka Alli. http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/does...ml#post2898954 There is an article I point to but there is also information on symptoms and a number to call if you have any symptoms: Those who experience symptoms that could point to liver injury, including jaundice, fatigue or brown urine, should consult a healthcare professional. Abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, light-colored stools, itching or loss of appetite also may be symptoms of liver damage. Physicians, as well as consumers taking orlistat and experiencing such symptoms, can make an online report to the FDA's Medwatch Adverse Events Reporting system, or call (800) FDA-1088. |
