Alli will increase your success and your results IF you are moving more and eating less calories. If you change nothing, it will help 0.

By the way, great deal on ALLI this week at WALGREEEN'S. It is in the paper for 180 pills for 60 dollars.

Picked up my Alli on the 31st and it was $49.99 for 180 pills with in store coupon.

Thighs Be Gone 01-02-2009 04:47 PM

nicky R, I think Walgreen's prices differ location to location..also, I am no longer using the product

Flatiron: The story about your sister made me LOL.

I'm thinking of trying this. I may go for a couple of weeks without it and see how I do and then add it. My sister used it successfully after her weight loss had stalled at about 165. She eventually got down to about 135. Her highest was 240. Previous to Alli it was diet and exericise alone. She is religious about her exercise. She never misses a day. I'm trying to follow her example!

GypsyLove 01-04-2009 04:58 PM

Hi everyone, I've been a member of 3FC for a while I just haven't been posting and I thought now's a good time to start lol. I tried Alli like 6 months ago but only for a couple days and never really gave it a chance to work. Now I'm back on it and willing to give it another shot. Today is only day 2 for me but I'm feeling pretty good so far.

For my food plan I'm just aiming to get close to my fat/calorie goal for each meal which is 19/1800. I'm not force feeding myself diet foods that I hate because I know I'll never stick with it. Instead I'm eating somewhat normal but I'm making healthier choices that I like when the opportunity presents itself.

Fitness wise I'm going to try and work out 5 days a week with 25 minutes of cardio just to start with since at the moment I can't do to much. When it get's easier I plan to add more.

I also have to work on drinking more water, I can go all day on only 1 cup of water and 5 cups of coffee which I know is soooooo bad! I'm trying to switch to green tea instead and I'm adding those crystal light packets to my water bottles to help me drink up.

My weight goals are in my signature and since I can get obsessed with the scale I'm only going to weigh in every 2 weeks. Thanks for reading everyone! I hope this thread stays alive! :)

Good luck GypsyLove! I've been taking alli for over a year (a prescription form before it became over the counter).

The side effects are predictable. Eat badly and expect some side effects, for me usually the following day. Try to stay away from fatty foods and you will do fine!

KissMyConverse 01-05-2009 11:32 AM

I've tried it and don't like it. It made me want to eat more...lool

GypsyLove 01-10-2009 02:35 PM

Just an update! I'm one week in and I did in fact stick with the 19 fat grams per meal and 1800 calories per day. I also made it to the gym 5 days this week. I'm very proud of myself since I normally only last 3 days max on a diet but with the higher fat content I'm finding it closer to normal eating and it's easier to stay with it.

I know I said I would only weigh myself everyother week but I caved in and weighed myself this morning and I've only lost 1 pound so far but TOM is do so next should be better. Also I feel better and my jeans aren't squeezing the life out of me anymore lol! So next week at the gym I'm adding another 5 minutes to my cardio making a total of 30 minutes each time. I'm hoping to eventually work up 45 minutes a session and then add in the weight training but one step at a time. How's everyone else doing? :)

heather88 01-10-2009 02:42 PM

GrypsyLove, I just finished week two and have lost a total of 6.6lbs. I'm very happy with it so far and my exercise, but yesterday I had treatment effects x.x

GypsyLove 01-10-2009 02:48 PM

well congrats! 6.6 lbs is awesome! I havn't had an T.E.'s yet. I only felt a little bloated tuesday after dinner monday night at my boyfriend's house.

sumu1 01-11-2009 12:08 PM

I'm giving it a shot. My pharmacist said she's using it and loves it. She too only uses the pills before a "fatty" meal. I figure follow the program...keep me honest...

I'm starting from the middle again. I gained back some of my loss over the holidays, about 10 lbs worth. So I'm taking the 17 lbs I have lost ( and will NEVER regain again) and move forward... Happy New Year everyone.

Thighs Be Gone 01-11-2009 12:12 PM

Good work ladies. I recently went off but had good success with Alli. I also structured my days so I could use the pills sparingly.

TurboLeda 01-13-2009 07:01 PM

hi ladies! this is my 2nd week on Alli... and the "loose stool" (sorry for being gross) just started a few days ago! However, I had pizza and cheese sticks last night.... and no side-effects happened!! Is there a reason for this???

I haven't lost any pounds yet.... I'm 5'3" and 136 pounds still...... a little frustrating.

PeatrixPotter 01-14-2009 05:12 PM

Turboleta I think you'll be getting an unpleasant surprise very soon! Lol!

P.S. I decided to make mine "prescription strength" by taking two at a time. Let's just say I don't recommend doing that. Lol!

GypsyLove 01-17-2009 08:40 AM

Hi again! This is my second week weighing in since starting alli and I think I did pretty well with keeping with my food and exercise goals considering I also got into a car accident this week. Don't worry I'm 100% fine it was the car that took the damage but the next day I got a rental and I was back at the gym again! I'm proud of myself for that becuase normally I'd use any excuse to fall off the band wagon.

This week I weighed in at 233.5 which is a 4.5 pound loss this week! I am soooooo happy to see something FINALLY working! Even if alli is really just there to keep me honest and isn't in fact what's making me lose the weight like other miracle diet pills say they do, I know it's that little push of motivation I need to keep me going and that makes all the difference in the world.
:)

MISFIT 01-17-2009 04:14 PM

I just started taking it today! :D I'm excited.. I hope I see more results. :crossed:

DebbieK 01-18-2009 01:16 PM

Hello,
I am fairly new to this site and have been posting mostly on Bistro MD as that is diet plan I chose to use in conjunction w Xenical( 120mg strength ALLI) and so far I must say the results have been good!!! I have had treatment effects at certain times but I look it as I must have over done it somewhere in the past day.I have been taking my multi vitamins that include and Omega 3 gel cap which I am starting to think is what is accounting for some issues. Overall I do I have say taking my MV at night has really made a difference in overall well being. I have also noticed that I've lost the bloat feeling which I believe is a combo of the low fat diet(1200 calories and Xenical), I am just trying to find the motivation to get w/ my excercise program!!! I rejoined the gym even though I have a treadmill to get me back in the groove, so I start again tomorrow w/ a ready, set ,tone class after work!! Hope I like it and am able to get through it!!

Shannonk1222 01-19-2009 04:35 PM

Hello everyone! I have been reading a lot about this and I am going to buy Alli tonight. I will WI tomorrow morning :( and hopefully post some positive results!

GypsyLove 01-19-2009 04:48 PM

EEK! I had my first T.E. today! nothing embaressing but enough to let me know that I should have paid more attention yesterday. It was my little sister and brother's b-day party and we had so much good food. I limited my portions but I guess since it was so much fattier then the things I normally eat it was just to much for me. Oh well, you live, you learn!

flatiron 01-20-2009 06:29 PM

Hey yall just wanted to report in that today makes my 50th day of Alli and I have lost 30lbs as of my weigh in yesterday. I am positive that the Alli saved me on the days I over did it (about 3 or 4 times) and helped me lose more weight than just dieting alone.

Just to recap I strated the Alli diet plan on Dec 1 and have been following it closely and taking the pills. 3 weeks ago I joined Weight Watchers with a friend mostly for moral support for her but I knew I would learn a lot at the meetings and I have.

WW doesn't recommend for or against Alli but I am taking them anyways. I have sort of combined the Alli diet plan and the Weight Watchers Momentum diet to form my sort of hybrid calorie counting points counting diet! LOL!

The scale last night at the WW meeting says I lost 4 pounds last week so I know it is working.

I have only had "treatment effects" 2 or 3 times in 50 days and every time I had eaten too much at a party or resturant. In other words I asked for it!

What I really like about the pills is how they keep me in line. Several times I was tempted to eat something I didn't need to eat and the thought of being on the can the next day stopped me.

It's working for me so far! I think the trick is to follow the directions in the books exactly and exercise.

I run on an eliptical machine every day (I missed a few days) for 45 - 60 minutes a day. It was hard to make time the first couple of weeks but now it is habit as I run the first thing every morning when I get up and get it out of the way.

Wishing everyone on Alli success! :carrot:

wchs2007 01-23-2009 09:47 AM

I would love to hear for all the people using Alli. I have been doing low calorie and low fat diet already. Any advice... How much are you loosing? flatiron.. You are doing just great with it! You make me want to run not walk to wal -mart to get me a bottle...
Thanks in advance...

Shannonk1222 01-23-2009 10:39 AM

I just used it for a week and lost 5 pounds. Probably because I am eating right and working out everyday but it keeps me honest!

173to120 01-24-2009 04:54 PM

i used alli back in 2006-2007 and hated it. i got treatment effects a few times... one accident and quitted taking it after i realized i wasnt losing weight or making smarter decisions. the only thing i noticed was my neck/chin area was smaller while taking it rather than how it was when i wasnt on it. that may not have been alli itself but rather me weighing less than i do now.

i have been on all sorts of diets and i realized that my own diet was the best.

i have been on weight watchers.... lost about 12 lbs altogether but it was easy to mess up... and i gained it back because i was allowed to eat whatever i wanted.

i did atkins... that didnt work simply because meats are my fave and i packed more on than i did losing it.

i also did jenny craig but with no exercise AT ALL and lost a total of 17 lbs while on it... it was the most succesful diet but i didnt enjoy it much.

i also tried eating south beach everyday and loveddd the food but it became expensive so i dropped that one too.

last thing i tried was alli...and simply it did not work for me.

after all these i decided i had to make my own diet choices... i made a list of good things to eat and made a grocery list every week and bought only what was on there and avoided ALL junk food / and sodas... the only thing i let myself have that isnt too healthy because of the artifical sweeteners is diet soda... but i incorporated lots of exercise into my daily routine and lost a good amount of weight doing so. another 17 lbs....

i gained those 17 lbs back because i moved to a new place/country where i no longer have the good weather, or access to a long flat road... and no more treadmill. but i have recently decided that i need to join a gym or there is no hope for me.

it is simply too cold out here and wayy too much snow for me to do any type of outdoorsy exercise other than shoveling snow or picking up chopped wood for the fireplace (which i do do still but its not enough).... and i WILL be at my goal weight by this summer, i sure hope so!

i just joined this forum today and im loving it so far... so much info and lots of stories to be inspired by!

GypsyLove 01-25-2009 09:14 AM

Ok here's my 3rd week weigh-in update! I missed one day at the gym this week so I only went 4 days but I'm up to 35 minutes of cardio as of yesterday. Friday had me a bit worried since my family went out to Charlie Brown's steak house but I'm proud of myself with how well I did. I ordered a small steak with a bake potato and I cut both in half and took the rest home. I also had a salad bar with it.

This past week I've lost another 3 pounds bringing me to 230.5! YAY! :)

You are doing so well on alli.
I started a diet Jan 5.. Tom came about the middle of that week. I lost like 16lbs during that week. ( which none has came back to I am happy about that)
But not a thing since. I am up a pound and I go back down a pound.
I started alli last Friday and I still have not seen the scales move.
I exercise and drink water.. I am hoping that I will see results soon...
Keep up your good work...

heather88 01-27-2009 08:18 AM

I went ahead and bought a second bottle of alli just because I have lost 15lbs in just over a month taking it along with my diet and exercise. I am starting to think this is actually worth the money now because of the results. We will see after February. If I get results, like this month, I am definitely getting some more when this bottle runs out!

i gained those 17 lbs back because

Sounds like to me that you didn't follow the plan close enough maybe??? Alli will not help you make smarter decisions YOU have to do that.

The very same exact thing happened to my little sister. She started Alli and didn't read the little books that came with it good enough. After much prodding she finally admitted to me that she just skimmed the books.

She had ONE accident at work and then quit Alli. I got all the rest of her pills! :D

I can't stress enough that you have to follow the plan exactly. That means you have to log everything you eat (why do you think a small food journal comes with it) and keep track of the fat intake and keep it under 15 grams per meal. That means NO estimating you have to know!

Now I keep reading from people who have never taken Alli say "well why take Alli if you eat low fat??"

For several reasons, one is that Alli is to dieting what antabuse is for alchoholics. If you have an iron will and absolutely have unwavering willpower then more power to you! Most people don't that's why it is so hard to lose weight in the first place.

I can't tell you how many times in the last 50 days that I have been on Alli that I have thought twice (sometimes THREE times) about what I am about to eat. It is as if a a sentry is standing guard over me when I eat saying "go a head and eat that but you'll know you ate it tomorrow!"

Another reason Alli works for me is for when I do mess up and eat too much... when I cave in to temptation... when the dirty deed is done and the next day I am feeling guilty about pigging out the day before. While I am on the toilet I can at LEAST say that 25% of the fat I ate is being eliminated. At least the moment of weakness is not a TOTAL loss!

I have lost 35 pounds from Dec 1 and I have absolutely NO DOUBT this number is as high as it is because of Alli.

How do I know? Because a friend and I started dieting tha same time. We joined Weight Watchers together. We work out at the YMCA together. I am on Alli and they are not. I have lost twice as much weight as they in the same amount of time and I probably eat more than them.

Alli doesn't work for everybody but name a drug that DOES work for everybody??

I am very interested in the stories that I read about Alli failures because 9 times out of 10 if I deep deep enough I find that the person just took the pill and didn't make the neccessary dietary changes (or not enough) and when the plan fails they blame the drug.

The Alli plan very simply states that if you diet and eat low fat and exercise and and lose 10 pounds if you take Alli doing the same thing you will lose 15 pounds.

It's not a magic pill you have to work at it just like you do if you don't take Alli. It just gives you an extra added boost and I need all the help I can get!

I have been on Alli for over 50 days now and I can honestly say that in those 50 days I have not had an accident anywhere. On the days when I did messed up (and there have been a few) I noticed that in the toilet the next day there were drops of oil floating in the water. This is exactly what the drug is supposed to do.

I hope others are having success with Alli and for those that it doesn't meet your expectation... can I have your remaining pills??? :D JUST KIDDING!

GypsyLove 01-27-2009 11:42 PM

wchs2007...Thanks a lot and good luck to you! :)

flatiron...awesome post, I couldn't have written that better myself! It's because of Alli helping me to keep honest that I've actually been able to stick with somthing, anything, for this long. Now when my will power slips and I really want to eat the whole cake lol, I won't because I'll REALLY regret it later even if I did skip the Alli for that meal. I've never had the will power to do good on diets long enough to see any actual results, until now! :)

GypsyLove 01-31-2009 10:06 AM

WooHoo! Hello 220's! I've lost another 2.5 pounds this week making a total of 11 for the month and that puts me at 228 pounds!

11 pounds this month is not at all bad considering I had 2 birthday dinners, my dad's first scan since surgery to remove a huge cancerous tumor, a car accident, and stabbed myself in the eye with a screwdriver accidently lol (sounds worse then it really is!). I guess I just really have my mind set on not giving up no matter what and it seems like luck is trying to test my limits this month.

I'm starting to get addicted to my workouts at the gym just like I used to which is great but I thought it would take longer to feel that good again. The gym is constantly renovating and putting in new stuff and right now they are working on a yoga/pilates studio. It looks like they are almost done with it so I can't wait for those classes to start up! I love yoga and pilates but I've only tried them a few times. Oh well I'm off to do some grocery shopping now and then off to the gym. Hope everyone is doing well! :)

ME TO! I started on Dec1 doing the eeliptical and I couldn't do it longer than 15 minutes at the smallest setting!

NOW... I do an hour a day and YES 1hour a day on the elliptical on the "weightloss" which is intervals of easy and super hard every 5 minutes.

I do it first thing in the morning everday at the YMCA and I feel like it is an old routine now.

Gypsy Love good luck on losing LOT's more weight you can do it!

Thighs Be Gone 02-01-2009 01:19 AM

I took Alli for several months and also have positive things to report. My ideas are in line with what Flatiron reports. It offered me slightly quicker results than dieting and exercise alone. Alli does work if you follow the program. It is not a magic bullet. If you don't change your nutriton and move, it will do you zero good. As to the side effects, it wasn't difficult to manage them. As long as I stayed on plan the effects were minimal. The big Alli books are at Dollar Tree stores everywhere now--it's a great book and worth a read even if you are not doing Alli. I would not hesitate to use this product again and I definitely do recommend the pill but also the Alli program.

Don't worry to much about my eye, it only sounds bad, it's already healed up. :jig:

Congrats on the huge exercise improvement! :cp: I'm up about 10 minutes in my workouts and intensity so far. I started at 25 minutes at level 5 resistance and now I'm doing 35 at level 7 so I'm getting there little by little!

Thanks for all the support!

Was looking around and found you guys here. I too have taken Alli previously with no "serious" side effects. I lost 17 lbs. last fall and wish I hadn't stopped taking it. I started them again last week. I only have one negative thing to say about Alli. They cost so darn much. They are a very good way to keep yourself honest and away from fatty foods. My MIL took orlistat years ago by prescription. I think that's what they called it. She lost like 70 some lbs. Even when they took her off of them she kept the weight off. I truely believe they boost my weight loss so I'll keep at it.

I agree that they do cost quite a bit but keep an eye out for sales. Around New Year's a lot of stores had sales on Alli. I got mine at walgreens and it was a buy 1 90 pill starter kit get 1 free. so I made 2 purchases and ended up with a 4 month supply of it. Good luck to you! :)

mishi09 02-06-2009 04:15 PM

I'm on my 5th day of Alli. No treatment effects yet, but I've been watching what I've eaten for two weeks now. I am only taking one pill a day at breakfast. I had planned to start taking two next week, three the third. But after all the reading, I may just stick to one and see how well that does on it's own. I know I'm not getting the full fat blocking effects but I already have digestion issues and my doc agreed that pushing it wouldn't be a good idea.

The biggest thing I've noticed is that I'm just not as hungry as I was before. My appetite has really dropped off since starting on Monday.

I'm also doing WW and it had been difficult staying within my points. This week I'm having a hard time using them.

Ant Bee 02-07-2009 04:17 PM

Hi, everyone! I tried Alli last May and had terrific results...then I stopped. I hate when I do that! Now I'm sitting here realizing that I'd probably be at my goal weight right now if I hadn't of gotten sidetracked. And so the dance begins again...

Oh, well, the reality is that I'm back on Alli as of yesterday and am recommitted to losing that baby weight (by 'baby' is now 18! Egads). Glad to see you guys are trying it, although it seems like the board has slowed down after it's initial market launch. Let's keep it going strong.

BTW, I really like using the Alli site's My Meal Plan feature. Easy to input the day's food and see how I measured up, stats-wise, on cal0ries, fat, fiber, etc.

I also noticed on the Alli site, for the first time, that there's a graph that shows height/weight recommendations for using the product. I didn't realize that for my height, I *should not* use it if I'm at 157 or below. Hummm, that means I'm on my own for the last 27-pound loss?! The graph is shown on the FAQ page, question #7, on the myalli site. Anyone else see this? I wonder why it is so...

Keep up the good work, all! I'll check with you as we take on this battle together!

I think mainly to prevent anorexics from using them. Also, to help you develop life maintaining habits. You can't use alli forever, you know? Although I am leaning more towards anorexic.

The best thing to do in that situation with WW and alli is to log everything to eat and make sure you are not only getting your points for the day but getting 50% calories from carbs 20% from protein and 30% from fat.

An update on my alli diet so far . . .
I ~officially~ started using alli 12/27/08 and to today 2/8/09. In between these times along with eating SOME whole grains, at least 1 serving of fruit and 2 servings of veggies I have lost 23lbs!!! I'm almost half-way to the 50lbs mark :D

Thighs Be Gone 02-08-2009 04:50 PM

Hi Ladies. I used Alli for several months and I just wanted to mention to watch your hair loss using this product. Although it's not reported as a side effect, I do think I had some of it and if you Google Alli + hair loss, you will see lots of women have had similar experiences. In the end, it's just a choice and depends on everyone's own circumstance. FYI and good luck! :)

Ant Bee 02-08-2009 05:42 PM

Diet - Vitamins = Hair loss

Good point, Thighs Be Gone (I love your name-hehee). Although, a Google search for 'Slim Fast + hair loss,' or 'Weight Watchers + hair loss,' gets hits, as well, since losing weight can go hand-in-hand with poor nutrition if you don't feed yourself well. An excerpt from one site claims:

"The typical hair thinning patient of dermatologists complains after losing about 20 pounds in a relatively short time period. No scientific study has ever identified whether certain diet plans are more or less likely to produce hair loss.

Sudden changes in nutrition can disrupt the hair growth cycle, causing hair follicles in the growing phase to convert to the "resting" phase too soon. This may mean a 20-30% increase in the number of daily hairs a person loses."

Thanks for the reminder to take my multi-vit every night!

Hi, Daimere: Thanks for the insight! My MIL has been taking one-a-day (prescription-strength) to maintain her wonderful and hard earned weight loss for a few years now, so it seems feasible someone could take Alli forever. Folks take a daily pill to keep their blood pressure and/or cholesterol in check; makes sense that peeps might take one to help keep extra weight off...but I dunno...
