Welcome back, Meowee!

And hurray! The asparagus are in season here, finally! It's so much easier to eat healthy when you can get the stuff locally.

hi everyone- I got my boxer puppy yesterday. He's all over the place. Plus, I'm starting to cook for my Mother's Day celebration at my house tomorrow. I'll get his picture up in the next few days.

HAPPY early MOTHER'S DAY to all you that have kiddos or grand kiddos.

meowee 05-11-2008 07:50 AM

Good Morning and HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY . . . even if you don't have any 'real' kids, I bet you 'mother' something.

meowee 05-12-2008 07:10 AM

Good Morning . . .

Another cold and overcast day -- but at least the rain (which got a little thick and slightly white at times) has stopped.

Other than that, everything is pretty much back to normal with me -- the weight blipped back down and so did the blood sugar. I have a little left-over yeast infection (diabetics should NOT eat so many desserts :o but that will soon disappear again too.

Hope everybody has a great day planned -- see you all later. :grouphug:

Hi guys. Just wanted to say that I love this thread. You are all nice. And there are often little surprises like puppies, flowers in bloom, and lovely fruit cups.

Yesterday was Mom's Day and I mainly ate very well. The family wanted Chinese take-out food, but I ordered something special just for me: Steamed chicken and vegetables with a side order of black bean sauce and some brown rice. I did great! But then I forgot to make some cook and serve sf/ff pudding. So I decided to have a very small slice of dessert with a small scoop of vanilla ice cream. I never felt "stuffed" but I did wish that I had managed to avoid the sweets. Oh well! Live and learn. I need to remember to cook before going to a special event.

I also was bummed because my volumetrics book has not arrived yet even though it was ordered over a week ago! So I found myself reading the first pages again on Amazon. You can read just the first pages for free. How sad. I want the book NOW!

meowee 05-12-2008 12:49 PM

I think you did very well indeed SUSAN . . . after all it was a special occasion. Nobody (well almost nobody) can expect to stay totally OP all the time. We still have to live and cope in the real world.

Hope the book shows up soon . . . In the meantime, if you've got any particular questions, let me know.

Congrats on the new 4-legged baby! :bb: Boxer, eh? What color is he? My sister breeds and shows them, and she just emailed me that her best girl just had nine (!!!) pups! They are the cutest little babies, aren't they! She ended up with 7 girls, and 2 boys - a variety of colors - dark brindles, fawns and one little, pure white girl with a black dot over one ear.

Well, hope all had a great Mother's day - I kinda blew the weekend, total-calorie-wise, but enjoyed a pleasant Mom's day and had a chance to relax. With the T.O.M. approaching, I'll wait a bit to weigh myself again (I always blow-up the few days before, then "deflate" after, so....). I am not in any hurry to see the fallout from this weekend's eating debacle!:dunno:

I think it's time for some:dust:

You want more puppies? My DIL raises and shows Samoyed dogs. Here are some pics.

These are ours: http://pawpics.smugmug.com/gallery/4...87142772_fhdGi

We had guests on Saturday and a picnic with the neighbors on Sunday. I ate too much, but not WAY too much. I am up a pound this morning, but could be from too much salt.

I have eaten two pounds of strawberries over the last few days! I must be on the "All You Can Eat Strawberry" diet.

teacher1 05-12-2008 08:20 PM

Yum, I love strawberries!!

My puppy is fawn male with a black mask and a little white on his tummy. I tried to change my avatar but it won't let me upload a new picture. I need to research this issue in the help thread. I already have a custom avatar but it's been so long I forgot how I did it. I went to change avatar and tried to upload the new picture but the upload failed :(

meowee 05-12-2008 08:23 PM

Teacher . . . the only reason I can think of that would cause your new avatar to be unaccepted would be size -- i.e., if the picture exceeded the limit. Other than that, did you remember to save the new version?

teacher1 05-12-2008 09:52 PM

ah, thanks. a picture of my sleeping baby

meowee 05-13-2008 07:07 AM

Oh my . . . that's got to hit 1000 on the 'cuteness scale' TEACHER.

Well . . . we have sunshine in Northern Nova Scotia this morning, but it is way too cold for being almost mid-May. Guess I'll try to be happy with the small mercies, though. At least the weight did another little downward 'blip' this am, but the blood sugar did an upward one -- the fact that I forgot to take my evening meds might have had something to do with it of course.

Nothing too exciting in my plans for today -- have to take my friend to the hospital for an intervenous bone-density treatment -- so we will probably do a bit of shopping while we are in town anyway.

Cut out the main sections for a new quilt yesterday between sessions of tearing my house apart trying to find details of my second marriage and divorce dates (selective amnesia at work here ). I need the information so I can get my passport. I'm kind of planning another little visit to some friends in September -- in North Carolina, this time. Guess I'll turn my approximate dates over to the local Services Canada office and hope they can track down the details for me. Give them an exciting few days (maybe) since I'll be asking for Ontario information instead of the Nova Scotia stuff they usually get asked about -- that's me -- always thinking of others. ;)

Other than that . . . SSDD . . . hope everybody else has some fun stuff on the go . . . see you all soon . . .

ArtCat 05-13-2008 08:14 AM

I have a brother-in-law in N Carolina- it's very beautiful there! If you like scenery, try to catch the Smoky Mountains in the early morning, when they're "smoking". (fog)

I get to go in this morning for blood tests and an EKG (standard procedure for the migraine meds I'm on), so I'll get to test my scale against theirs. As far as I can tell I made it through our busy weekend OK, but I'll see what they say.

Congrats on the beautiful baby, teacher! What did you name him? Does your schnauzer get a long with him so far?

teacher1 05-13-2008 04:06 PM

He's name is Bruiser. The schnauzer is at my parent's house. They met but Lily doesn't want anything to do with him.

gailr42 05-13-2008 05:12 PM

What a pretty baby! She is going to be a great companion.
