Question Prescription Medication

I just called my DR to see if there is anything he can give me to help with this last 20-25 lbs I need to get off me. Is there anything I should be looking for? I used Alli for a bit last year and that is the area I "hang" out in on 3FC but I have since lowered my diet to under the 15 grams per meal (probably closer to 10 grams average) so I dont think that would be very effective for me.

So are any of you taking anything besides Xenical or ALLI? if so what? Do you like it? How does it work? Any details would be appreciated...thanks!

I would recommend Paul McKenna's book and cd called "I Can Make You Thin".
There's a thread about it here in the General diet plans forum. It has truly changed the way I think about and eat food.

I have a friend who took phentermine about 2 yrs ago and lost 30 lbs. She said it made her really hyper and she couldn't sleep at night. Oh yeah, and dry mouth. I saw her last week and she had gained all the weight back.

Really, a total life change of how you eat is the only thing that will work in the long term.

Best wishes

You said that you have lost a lot of your weight through Alli, are you still taking it?

You are correct, that if you are eating that low of a fat count, that Alli will not be effective for you. It can't take away what you aren't eating.

Can I ask, what your exercise regime is like, and how long you have been doing it? Can I also ask what your average calorie intake is?

The last few pounds are the hardest to lose, and 99% of the time, it requires a stricter food intake, and more intense exercise. It's all calories in vs/ calories expended.

I did lose about 15-20lbs with alli last year, and in the process I have changed severely how I eat (very low fat, low sugar, ect) and now I would say I am 1500-1800 calories per day, lots of protein/fiber, I workout 60 minutes a day either at the gym with cardio/weights, or I walk 4 miles if I cant make it to the gym. I have been going to the gym religiously for 2 months and have not lost an ounce, but I can see some minor changes in my body (which is nice). I have a bad thyroid and that hinders me a lot...but I try to get all my "proper" nutrition and then add anything I am missing. I have virtually given up TV in the evenings, I work 8-9 hours per day, when I get home I cook for the family, and then I usually play with my 3y/o and clean do light home maint. I just repainted 1 bathroom in my house that took the better part of 2 evenings, so I am always GOING! And I have just hit a stand still. It is extremely frustrating as you can imagine.
