Exclamation Tons of Texas and OK Centers Closing by May 2, 2008

I can't stand it any longer!!!!

Please know most of your counselors do truely care!!! We received word that they are closing our centers to be done by May 2, 2008 through a box. Iside the box were letters to employees and clients saying they are sorry!

What? We do not even warrant a phone call????

I want everyone to know that I am a counselor and if you have any questions or need help with the plan.... I am here....

I DO THIS FOR THE SUCCESS OF MY CLIENTS.......

Default Question about these centers-

Hi-

Are these centers owned by a particular franchise group---or are they managed by LA Weight Loss Franchise Companies? Was it part of the take-over from earlier this year?

My center here in Germantown, TN is managed by LA Weight Loss Franchise Companies after the franchisee went bankrupt-

Thanks,

Rita.

I had the same question. I was told went Pure closed that my center was privately owned. My center still goes by the name of Pure Weight Loss. I am here in Mobile, Alabama.

Also, thanks for being one of the caring counselors.

I'm scared. I have so far to go yet. How will I know when to drop plans w/out my center?

Other than that I really don't need them. I get most of my motivation here.

How is it decided when you drop to the next lower plan? And does someone have the info for the lower plans? I'm on plan #7 right now....no lites.

That's the tough part Jill, but you can't lose heart...

Frankly, I'd ask one of your counselors to give you a time table on when the drops occur.. If she asks "why" you're asking.. Just tell her you're curious... Ask her how the information is determined.. Stuff like that..

Glean as much as you can before the shops close... We can help you with the rest!

I honestly wish that LAWL would scale back a bit and become Weight Watchers-style in a sense. They would do well if they met at churches and community centers, charged a modest fee per meeting, and sold some of their products at the meetings. Without the overhead expenses of the centers, the organization could do very well. No one will ever trust them again, so who will want to put up a bunch of money up front to pay for services they might not get? Paying-as-you-go would be a logical way to keep the company alive.

My center closed a long time ago, and I put back on about half of the 67 pounds that I lost. I am back on the wagon, but the three weigh-ins per week at the center kept me honest. I bought a bunch of bars and snacks on ebay. Seems they're having a lot of fire sales, with all of the centers closing.

It is very nice of you to offer support.

I don't understand how a company can do this, take all that money from people then just close down.
My center told me I had to pay all up front, then I found out there were indeed other payment plans.

I am praying that this center doesn't close. It was a lot of money that I didn't have that I put on my line of credit. It was a big leap of faith in myself to do this program but I knew I needed help. Now if they close all that money will be for nothing. It will take me some time to save enough to pay that off.

I really hope my center doesn't close. I would feel terrible for spending that money on myself instead of putting it towards bills or for our family.

I hope the company gets a dose of reality and morals and stops doing this to its employees and all the clients.

If you paid by credit card, you might be able to get some of your money back if your center closes. Some credit cards are insured so that if the service you paid for breaks their side of the contract, you can get some of the money back from the credit card company. I don't know how this works, but I've known people who have done so.

Thanks for the info kaplods - I hadn't though of that.
I did pay by visa so maybe that could be an option if my center does close. But I did see that they had notices out for hiring people, so I'm hoping that they won't close, I have done so well with the program i'd be really sad if the closed.

Thanks for the idea.

Fortanutely, I was able to go on a payment plan. My center is in Texas, though...SO I am defnitely worried. I'm trying to figure out if I should go ahead and pay off what I owe, or just keep waiting and seeing, citing that I"m broke? ATM, they're waiting for me to finish on paying more, and I'm actually broke, but I was gonna try and pay most of it off at the end of the month.

I'll go in and talk to the counselors, ask them questiosn about how the plans work, and how I should keep working towards lowering the plans. I know that no matter what happens, I'm defnitely gonna lose weight one way or another!

I have gotten word(through the grapevine, no official announcement) that my center is closing May 1. I plan to go tomorrow to see what I can find out, and fill out a refund request. Will let you know what I find out. I don't want to post where it is at this time. I will after an official announcement is made.

I went last Thursday, only to be shocked by a sign on the door that they had new spring hours, open only on MWF. But I saw lights on inside, so called and the mgr was there and let me in. She said she couldn't "officially" weigh me since she was supposed to be closed, but I could get products I needed. So the first thing I asked her when she let me in was "are ya'll closing?". She said no, they weren't going anywhere, in fact they would be going through training next week for the new la at home program that would be great for me, and I wouldn't have to pay anything, active clients would have it free for life. She said the new hours were due to people coming in less for weigh-ins, due to not getting out as much because of fuel prices!! So when I told her I wanted to know how much products I had on the books, and wanted to know how much I could get. She said I could get it all if I wanted. So I got all(16 jetstarts, 2 mrps, 30 snacks, and picked up 28 lites-she let me sub new controltrim shakes for some, 2 months of vitamin packs, 2 controltrim powder, 2 controltrim tablets). ALOT of stuff, and I still have some lites coming--can't remember how many, think 23. I could have got them all, but just felt I needed to go back for the others--think they will be open til the first of may. If not, I will let carecredit know---have already talked to them. I also wanted some reason to go back--want to make sure I get the chance to fill out a refund request on weeks left!!
I do plan to list my stuff on ebay, if anyone is interested, pm me and I will give you my ebay user name!!

Good for you for doing this! It was a very smart decision. They have been doing the same stuff here in Germantown, TN. They have been closed on Tues and Thurs, but they are "Manager Days". A friend of mine that worked for LA said that most of the centers are closing May 9th.

Do you know if your center was franchised or being run by the company? Who was the franchise group?

My cod was franchise, taken over by corporate last December. Guess maybe that was the beginning of the end. I will keep everyone posted. Hope to go over there one day next week--on a day they are open to see how it is. I am sure I could go on T-Th to see the mgr, but plan to go on an open day.

The ones here in TN were taken over by corprate in the Memphis Market too....and they are closing. All the Managers have quit, but they have "Area Supervisors" still signing people up on program and taking the money.

Talk about S-H-A-D-Y!!!!!
