hunger

  • I sometimes go to bed hungry but in the middle of the night it goes away. Does anyone know why this is. Thanks.
  • I don't know, but personally, I get past the "hunger" point. But that's not necessarily a good thing! It's not good to go to bed hungry. Eat an apple or something low-cal that will help you feel full without adding a ton of calories.
  • if i am hungry at night and i know i have had plenty of food that day, ill just drink loads of water.. that seems to help me.. i read somewhere that a lot of times when people feel hungry they are really thirsty and just getting the signals mixed up... and it works most of the time for me
  • I got my thirst/hunger signals mixed in the beginning. If you think you are hungry, then drink a large glass of water. If 15 minutes later you are still hungry, then have a snack if it works into your plan.
  • The reason you feel hungry is that your stomach is telling you it-s time to eat something--it starts trying to digest food without there being any food in it. The hunger feeling eventually goes away because your stomach eventually stops trying to digest the non-existant food (but it will likely start again after a while!).

    I agree with others that you shouldn't normally go to bed hungry. If you're honestly physically hungry, eat (or drink, and then eat if the feeling persists).
  • If I go to bed hungry, I always find a dip in the scale this next morning... but, I never go to bed STARVING. If I am a tiny bit hungry, I don't worry about it (I figure, I won't notice if I am asleep). But if I am REALLY hungry, I eat a snack. I read once that an apple is a good b/f snack, b/c it is bulky and fiberous w/o being full of calories. I would think any high fiber/high protein snack that is low cal/low fat would be a good b/f bed snack.
