Default Help, I need breakfast ideas

Hi,
I'm looking for some different breakfast ideas. Can't eat eggs, not a big fan of oatmeal. Sick of cereal/banana stand-by. Has anyone tried 'Silk" milk ?
I like yogurt, but need something with it... Thanks.

low fat cottage cheese and unsweetened applesauce - looks hecka nasty...tastes

low carb toast (40 cals) with natural peanut butter and jelly (or half a banana)

protein pancakes (this makes 2) - 1/2 c each of egg whites (or eggbeaters), cottage cheese and oatmeal, blend till smooth with a capful of vanilla. I like these with applesauce and sugar free syrup.

Nonfat yogurt mixed with sugar free jam

French toast made with eggbeaters and splenda

Those are my winter staples (besides oatmeal - I like it with canned peaches and cinnamon and splenda). None of them take very long to prepare.

I've never tried Silk milk....but lately I've been into Almond milk. Makes great smoothies!!

Default Breakfast Ideas

I agree that cereal can get old very quickly. One of my favorite breakfasts is waffles and peanut butter. Look for the low fat or fat free frozen waffles and the reduced fat peanut butter. If you are on WW the waffles are 1 pt a piece and the peanut butter is 2-3 pts per tblesp. You can make a sandwich with 2 waffles and 1 tblsp of peanut butter for a great on the go breakfast. Also, you can add fruit to the mix or play around with other kinds of nut spreads. I also love the Kashi Bars, especially the Pumpkin Spice Flax bar. It has enough protein and fiber to really fill you up. I hope this helps.

Also, i have tried Silk and several other soy milk products. I have bouts of lactose intolerance and found this to be a great alternative. Silk does not taste like milk and if you go in knowing that, you will probably be happy with it. It is sweeter then regular milk and has a great milk texture. I have only had the regular flavor but i know several people who really like the vanilla flavor.

Try "non-traditional" breakfasts. Leftovers, fast faves, whatever sounds good

~I will throw a Morningstar Farms black bean burger on the grill and eat it on a flatbread
~or Laughing Cow cheese on a multi-grain, lowfat, high-protein English muffin
~or a smoothie (soymilk or otherwise)
~or yogurt with some fresh fruit
~even a high-protein granola bar (Kashi or SouthBeach or Clif)

Well, I happen to be one of those people who doesn't have time to "make" breakfast, so I have something I can grab and eat on the way to school....

- I LOVE Carnation Instant Breakfast (sugar free) with skim milk- good calcium/vitamins
- lots of the cereal bars are not too bad calorie/fat gram wise (like Nutrigrain, Special K, etc.)

On the weekends, I like to scramble an eggbeater, mix in low-fat cheese and some onions, and put it in a whole-grain tortilla...yummy!

Good luck!

Ditto the slim fast shake - vanilla and toss in a few ounces of blueberries and 1/2 banana. Yum.

Steel cut oats - WAY better that reg instant oatmeal. 1 cup oats and 4 c water in a slow cooker for a few hours. Turn off when tender and let sit overnight. Makes 4-6 servings at less than 150 cals. Super filling. Add fruit/milk/brown sugar to taste.

Poach and egg on a piece of toast.

Fruit salad - can be made in advance.

Leftovers

Hi I've used Silk & other Vanilla flavored (low fat) versions of soy milk--the best bet is to try a few different brands (get 1L wherever popular) & that way if you don't like it, no harm done.
So Good is good & Silk is ok, I find the Loblaws or Canadian Superstore (so probably only in Canada) is great! & cheap.
I like it as a base for shakes as soy is a cheap protein & a good one.

Another option is to put yogurt on a bagel instead of jam--I have done this with fruit flavored low sugar yogurt & it works well.

Can you eat tofu? Add a small piece (1/4 cup) of SILKEN tofu with water (or soy milk or milk) to your favorite frozen fruit & whip into blender--it makes a really high protein shake.

Another option is to look for a bread recipie that uses spouts & make spout bread. Spout bread usually has soy flour in it--as a bread its pricy but as a protein it is cheap.

Add a low fat peanut butter on it OR use as a sandwhich bread.

As well consider putting a thin spread of cottage cheese on there with some sliced apple.

Just different ideas.

Maybe a bacon, lettuce and tomato sandwich. Just have one or two slices of bacon with whole grain toast and no butter.

Low fat cottage cheese and a raw vegetable: snowpeas, colored peppers, cherry tomatoes
Same, and add some fresh fruit.
I don't mix it together I eat it separately.
Low fat cottage cheese and healthy cereal, mixed (kashi go lean, kashi puffed whole grains, Uncle Sam).
