Congrats on the weight loss. Hope you have a nice weekend. |
Beck, I'm like you and trying to get back on track. It isn't easy, is it?
Cindy, I agree about a steady weight loss. I want it faster though! LOL 14 total is great!! I'm the same with 1800 cal, and the 19 fat. I come close to those except for breakfast I rarely hit 5 fat grams. I do eat breakfast everyday though. Welcome Bev!! Debaline, 17 total is wonderful! I just bought some Thomas's mini-bagels at Wal Mart. They are strawberry, and they are delicious. I don't put anything on them at all. My weigh in was yesterday, and I have now lost 13. Now I am going to whine a bit. Just don't hit me. I honestly think that I was getting more rest when hubby was in the hospital. Since he's home, I still have laundry to do of course, but now there is more. I am cooking, and when I was here by myself, I was just grabbing things. My chiro talked today about how tight my middle back was today and it hasn't been at all. She feels like it's stress. We sat and talked a little bit about everything that's going on, and of course, I cried. Tomorrow I'm taking the dog to the doggy hotel, hubby will be at home, and I'm going to see out son at college for family weekend. I'll go to the football game, and then he and I will get together afterwards for dinner. One of hubby's friends is planning to come and spend part of that time with him so I don't have to feel like I have to rush back. Hubby is capable of doing more than he was, BUT I don't want him getting totally worn out more than he is. I feel really guilty because there were a few times that I almost wished he was still at the hospital! I know things will keep getting better, and it will be easier when he isn't on the oxygen. Thanks for letting me vent a little ladies! I hope you all have a great Alli weekend! |

That is one of the things we are here for, to rant. We all understand. The worry has finaly caught up with you. It effects the body. You need some relax time. Yes, sometimes when they are home it is more work than when they aren't lol. I know you are worried about him, don't want him to do to much. Please, take care of yourself. You are no good to him if you are all worn out and not feeling well. Congrats on the weight loss. |

I totally understand your vent, looking after your hubby is a lot of work, sometimes it's hard enough to look after ourselves! It's going to get better soon. :) You guys would have been so proud of me today. I had to leave work early to take my daughter to the doctors. After her appointment we stopped by the mall to get a few things, I hadn't eaten since breakfast and I thought about going into a restaurant for lunch, I was so close to going in - but at the last moment (and at the door) decided nope, we're going home. I had my regular healthy meal of grilled chicken, veggies and brown rice. Then I did an hour of cardio.. Tonight we had a party to go to, there was TONS of food, spring rolls, deep fried lobster, roti, wraps, meatballs, rack of lamb, lasagna, tarts, cakes, squares.... and I had....... a tea with sweetener, a water & a coffee with sweetener ... not one morsel of food passed my lips :carrot: It was pretty tough, everywhere I looked people were eating, a couple of times the room was just spinning, I swear everyone was chewing! I kept thinking about my trip, and the clothes I want to buy before I go and the formal nights where I want to look really nice. That kept me from devouring the cheesecake. Tomorrow night I have a dinner at my husband's club, I talked to the food & beverage manager today, they are doing a special low fat/no salt dinner for me and a fruit plate for dessert. I am trying so hard to do as well as I can, only 7 1/2 weeks until our trip. The closer I get to this trip, the stronger I am becoming - I don't think I've ever wanted it as bad as I do now - I'm doing everything in my power to make use of this time to achieve my Nov 19 goal. You talked about how it seemed everywhere you looked someone was eating lol. You know something I have noticed. There are food places everywhere. I never noticed that before lol. I never was one to eat out much, would rather know food came from my clean kitchen. Still, I never noticed how many places there are to eat outside of the home. Even in my little town we have a MC Donald's and a subway, 2 pizza/chicken shops and you can get food at the gas stations. Yuck, no wonder it is so hard for some people to make good food choices. |
Will Alli be my friend?
Hello Ladies! I have a question about Alli. I have struggled with losing weight, and have yo yo dieted for so many years to the point where my body is soooo reluctant to lose any weight. I weigh 134 lbs (down from 164) and I really just want to get these last ten or so pounds off. Although the chart on the back of Alli said that I wasn't in the required weight range to take it, I bought it anyway. My main question is why do they not recommend Alli for someone who wants to lose ten pounds? Do they expect you to stop taking Alli once you hit the lowest minimum weight in your height range? I don't get it, I don't want to hurt myself, but I'd much rather take something like this than that other stuff that makes me jittery. Anyone else in here taking the product that is under the weight recommended?

Good morning all - I am officially on vacation for the next two weeks! Yahoo! Have lots of stuff planned that should help me stay on track - at least in the exercise department. Surely trimming hedges, climbing up ladders and the like should count as exercise. Hope everyone is doing well!
|
Well it is nice to see that several new people have joined us here. And that several "oldies"(just kidding ladies) are doing so very well.
I am just kinda "here" still. Not much new. I am at work today until noon and then I have to go shopping with my kids a little. (Thats always a blast) Well I am happy everyone is checking in and moving right along! Keep up the good work. I am sorry I am absent more lately. I have been crazy busy! As some of you know I am in the market for a new job. I am in Sales right now but I am an Elementary School Teacher by trade. I had applied at a few places and came VERY, VERY close to being offered a VERY good job. But that didnt happen. So I have been looking (quietly). Well I posted my resume on a couple of Job boards (monster, career builder) and last week I got a call from the HR man at a MAJOR international Finance company. He said he found my resume and wanted to know if I would be interested in a position with the company. I said I would be interested in learning MORE about the position and the company. So he forwarded my resume to the local manager and she contacted me to schedule and interview...could be interesting! Then this morning when I got to work I got an email from a (fairly close) school district asking if I would be still interested in a teaching position, as they have one available now. So I emailed them back saying I would be. And now I just found out that a "city" (government) job is going to be available here soon, the gal just gave her 2 weeks notice (out of the blue)...so I will be checking into that one too. Boy I hope with all this action, something comes of it!!!! Wish me luck! |
Alli
Hi all.
I am Jenn. Been a member here (one who comes and goes frequently) for a while. I was first on South Beach. Then Weight Watchers. Then Fat Smash. I originally lost 40 pounds with diet and exercise. Then I lost another 20. I've gained 45 back. I am unhappy and need to do something about it. This week, I started eating lower calorie/smaller portion/low fat diet. I start Alli itself on Monday. I am about 2.5 weeks away from turning 30. I don't want to be 31 and at this weight. I hope to lose 60 pounds in a year but more importantly, eat well again and exercise. I am dealing with an unsuccessful foot surgery so I am slowly getting back into the swing of things. Thanks for letting me vent a bit and intro myself! :carrot: |
Still...boy when it rains it pours doesnt it ! all those job offers, which one are you leaning toward ? i am looking for work as i cant work retail anymore because of all the pins and metal in my foot makes it hard to stand. so looking for a sit down job. welcome jenne, looks like we both have ankle problems. i am not losing weight in spite of eating right, taking alli, and riding my exersice bike.. getting p.o.'d at everything. my fear is i waited too long to lose weight. now i am 55 ,menopausal, and hormonally challenged. gosh i hope this isnt true for me. well, next week i am going to cut my carbs alittle and see where that leads..any suggestions very welcomed. :(

P.S. kobe21.. i know losing that last ten pounds is really hard. you may want to check the alli home page and see if you question is answered there. alli is really good at keeping me on track and i dont have the jitters.
|
I'm sorry guys. I just stopped in to read real quick, but thought I'd amswer Kob21.
I know they recommend you be at a certain weight to use Alli, but I think it is more because they don't want to be perceived as taking advantage of dieters..?? I really just don't see how it could be bad for you. I guess I shouldn't encourage you to do something against their recommendations as I'm not a doctor, but common sense tells me it shouldn't be a problem. Maybe it has something to do with there not being enough time to establish a change in eating patterns with someone who only has a little to lose. They aren't taking into consideration people in your position who've already been losing on an eating plan, but need a little help getting to goal. I'd say try it. I don't think it could be harmful. Cindy T I'll be back tomorrow guys to post to you all. I'm leaving to go play Bingo soon:) |
Might have something to do with you need a certain amount of fat intake in your body. If you are under a certain weight for a height you probably aren't taking in more fat than you need. Just because a person needs to lose weight. Does not mean they are taking in to much fat and that is what Alli is for. There are many reasons like calories and carbs that can cause weight gain if a person takes to many in. That is all I can imagine about the Alli.
My gosh 134 for your height sounds really good. I am only 4 foot 11 and the chart shows I should weigh between 110 and 130 for my height and small build. |
Thanks for listening gang! I plan to sleep in our son's room since he is away at college. I think I'll be able to rest better there because the oxygen won't be in the same room. We'll see how it goes. I have been trying to keep eating healthy so I don't get too worn down. Getting away today did me a world of good. It was a beautiful day for the football game, and our son and I went to Red Lobster for dinner after the game. We had a very nice visit. Hubby did fine while I was gone. He even did a load of laundry! It probably did him good to have the house to himself for a while too.
Thanks for the congrats on my losing another pound. I'm not weighing for a few days now. I have been crampy all day, so I don't want to weigh until after TOM unless it is late like last time. Thin, smart move on checking on the meal and making arrangements for something that is good for you! Shy, I live in a small town too, and we have 3 pizza places within 1 mile of our house. Isn't that sad??? Kobe, at 5'6", you are at a healthy weight right now. That is why they don't recommend it. That weight is in the Normal category according to the BMI, so I don't even think a doctor would advise you to lose more weight. Is there a reason you feel you have to be 115? Bobbigene, I think all of those count as exercise. Can I count them as part of mine????? Still, boy when it rains it pours doesn't it?? All of those job possibilities!! Keep us posted!!! Jenn, 60 pounds is very doable!! 1 pound a week is 52 pounds in a year (although I'd like to lose 20 pounds a week to do it a bit faster, lol). Good luck!! I just read got2get's post and we both said about the rain and pouring. Great minds think alike!! And hey girl, I am 52, wondering if I'm in menopause, and I know I have health issues (fibromyalgia, arthritis). We must be in the same boat, so we're going to have to accomplish this stuff together! Cindy, I want to play bingo!! Shy again, we both thought the same thing about Kobe's weight being a healthy one for her height. |
Tammy
I am so glad you had a nice day with your son. YES we worry about your husband BUT we WORRY about you. We want you to take care of yourself. Isn't it funny how very quickly woman start to worry about other woman they have never seen face to face. You and yours are in my prayers and I do think about you. I have been reading a few posts on this site of people who want to be way to thin. This worrys me. Even the press is starting to give the actors and actress a hard time about how thin they are. The body was meant to have some meat on it not just be skin and bones. AND do people understand they might think they look good walking around like a skeleton but they don't and it makes them look old way before their time. Bobbiegene I count everything. When I do laundry there are two flights of stairs. One for the basement and one for the upstairs. That is exercise lol. Jenn Just think 1lb a week stays off. You are use to eating the way you needed to eat to get it off so it stays off. 20lbs a week is fast. Your body doesn't have time to adjust to the loss. The body wants it back and sure seems to try to get it back lol. Menopausal lol I hit early menopause right after I had my tubal at ate 29. Its a great excuse when you just can't stand it anymore and want to rant lol. |
