LA Weightloss #41

Here we Go !!! See you later :)

Jibbelle 01-05-2002 09:29 AM

Thanks for the new thread Crystal! :)

I just went to weigh in. The center was a mess. The manager's face was very swollen from a tooth problem she was having. She said she spent most of the night in the ER. The other lady that was working...her husband called and said he was in a wreck and she needed to pick him up from the hospital. He had to get a few stitches. What a morning they were having! As I was leaving they were both leaving also and one another lady was coming in to run the center by herself today. I hope it doesnt get too busy for her.

I just weighed in, got my bars (I was down to one) and left. I did not want to take any more of there time this morning than necessary. So after all that...I was down 0.4 lbs. Not much, but at least a loss. I was afraid that I would be up, so I was pleasantly suprised.

Marcie-
My two pound challenge starts at 247 lbs. By next Saturday I will try to be at 245. :D

honey55bun 01-05-2002 10:14 AM

I didnt get my numbers for the 2 lb challenge. I will find out what my weight was yesterday, for the beginning weight.

Have a great weekend.

dianem1 01-05-2002 02:35 PM

Hi Everyone:
Good luck with the 2 pound challenge.
I have to honest and say I rarely lost two pounds in a week unless I was doing take-off. Even before my mess up with the holidays my average was only 1.6.
Just working on my holiday weight to get it back off I have four more pounds to go, then I will work towards reaching my goal.
Jibbelle it sounds like you had a hectic weigh in. Hopefully it is all settled my next week.
Have a great weekend !

marciew 01-05-2002 04:19 PM

Hey ladies!

Well I am starting the challenge at 206..hope to be at 204 by Sat.

Diane!~Its okay if you dont lose the 2 pounds but just try it with us. I think by trying mini goals it helps not to focus on the big goal! If you lose 1.6 that is better then 0 right?? You can do it!!

Crystal~I am with you, I hate veggies. I try to just eat the ones I like which mostly is green beans and that is it. I agree with Jibbelle about the flour.

Happy Sat. guys and don't forget the water! Are you sick of me saying that yet?? Sorry!

Marciew

Jibbelle 01-05-2002 04:54 PM

Diane-
My average is about 1.6 as well, but I figured it doesnt hurt to aim for two. I would be happy with any loss though!

Marcie-
It is almost 4pm and I just finished my 64 oz of water. I am getting ready to start on another bottle. I think I will make some iced tea to have with dinner though.

I bought some ground sirloin and I am making a cheeseburger for dinner!! A salad to go on the side. I usually do not eat beef, but a burger sounded really good to me today. Of couse I have to make my boyfriend some french fries to go with his burger! :dizzy:

honey55bun 01-05-2002 04:59 PM

Hey ladies! Got my water in . Still have another meal to go , so I will get a little extra in today.

Do you all exercise? I was so faithful for about 7 months. I went to New york for a week in October and ever since then I have not been able to get back on track. I need motivation!! :)

Talk to you all later,

Jibbelle 01-05-2002 05:36 PM

I am so busy during the week that I never make it to the gym. On Saturdays, Sundays, and any days I have off I do work out. I do a mile on the treadmill (about 20 min) and then I do 40 min on a hills course on the life cycle.

I had a very rare degenerative joint disease and had to have a total hip replacement a couple years ago. It is important for me to do low impact exercise in order to keep the new joint lubricated well. They tell me that will help the new hip last longer. I wish I had time to work out more, but between work and school I am always running in circles.

Classes start again next week...so things are about to get crazy soon!

marciew 01-07-2002 05:55 PM

Wow! Everyone must be really busy! I have had a great day and am getting ready to hop on the treadmill! I am shooting to work out 5 days a week. Gotta speed up this weight loss process since it will be getting warm again here soon. Gotta get back into a swim suit and summer clothes soon. Cant hide much longer. Anyway I am way way behind on my water today. Only 32 oz. but i will pick it up starting now. Hope you have all had a great day!!

marciew

honey55bun 01-07-2002 06:07 PM

Hey ladies!! I weighed in today. Friday I was at 183.5, Today I am at 180.25. I was very happy with that loss. I hope that it continues throughout the week or that I keep it off all week. Before Friday I was down to 181.5 ( I had lost 6 lbs in one week) so I hope that this stays off and more :)

Anyway, I am behind on my water, but am trying to get it all in. I am going to aerobics at the Y in a couple of minutes.

Keep up the good work, Everyone!!

Talk to you all soon,

Jibbelle 01-07-2002 06:14 PM

Hey all. I just went to the center. I didnt looks to see how much I weighed, but I will post a new weight on Saturday.

Good job Marcie and Crystal on those work outs!! Wish I had the motivation and time!

I am off to buy books. Class starts tomorrow. I can not believe how fast Christmas break went!

honey55bun 01-07-2002 08:37 PM

Hey all. Just got back from aerobics and I feel much better. This past week I have been very irritable, down, etc. i don't know what is causing it. I hope the exercise will get my serotonin up or something. I was beginning to wonder if it was not eating all that junk that I used to eat. Maybe it was masking some of my feelings. I don't know, I hate it when I try to analyze myself, but I'm a therapist, what do you expect. :)

Keep up the good work all!!!!

dietingrme 01-08-2002 12:06 AM

Hey Ladies,

It sounds like you ladies are a big bunch of loosers!

Congrats on the weight loss!

Man, I didn't realize that I had missed so much... things never seem to slow up... I have been chasing my bottom or bumping into it around each corner... life is way to fast!

I finally made it to the center last Sat... my daughter drove me... I was up 3 1/2 pounds... not surprising... I thought I would have been 30 odd pounds heavier... back where I started..

Seriously, the Christmas holidays... I blew it... now, it's not so easy trying to get back OP...I was to go back to the center tomorrow... but, have to take my other daughter to Mobile to pick up her car that she had to get serviced... have the accountant coming Wed and an audit Thursday... so, I'm shooting for Friday to make it back to the center... it's tough not being local...

I've been hungry... counselor had said they wanted me to do takeoff Tuesday... welll, looks like weekend... steak, here I come...

Hopefully, that will get me straighted back out & I hope that I can avoid any additional detours... I honestly believe that all the stress & fast-pace living makes me fudge... why can't things be simple? although, I don't mean to complain... my ribs are better... not as much discomfort... today, I drove locally for the 1st time... had to make a Wal-Mart run & grocery store... exhausted... unloading the groceries got the best of me... then, I had to cook super... made chili in a hurry... hubby & daughter think they have to eat as soon as they walk in the door... then fed them... i made some soup... had a cup... no, 2 cups... so good... had half a ham sandwich & one lemon bar... not OP... but good! didn't get in my fruits... oh well... will try again tomorrow...

gotta carry the soup to some eldery friends & to my son & his family... i just couldn't resist homemade soup... it was cold again today... i'm ready for our 70's again..

enough bout me... hope that you all keep up the good work, the OP, the water, & the exercise... hope that i find the motivation again...

take care,
nancy

Hello everyone,
Weighed in today, only down 1/4 lb., but I'm not disheartened. I am still down 6lbs and it will be two weeks in two days. I started the program. I think your body gets somewhat dehydrated after the take-off and it tries to stabilize a few days after.
One thing I was doing was eating two bars a day. The counselor thought this might be too many carbs, so I'm going to one bar and one hot chocolate/frothy for the other LA lite.
I still don't understand some aspects of the plan. It might be my medical knowledge, but why can't turkey breast, low sodium, fresh deli meat be bad? I asked the medical assistant, she said it causes you to retain. I said retain and gain are two different things, if one drinks enough water, it should act as a diuretic. Also , the turkey breast from deli has no worse added ingredients than some of the listings on the bars, etc....I'm not trying to second guess the program, but have yet to understand this aspect. The program is a lot like the old fashioned diabetic diets patients used to go on.
O.K. gals, lets go and get em!!!!

honey55bun 01-08-2002 05:50 PM

Lose - I read your other post. I really didn't know if I was going to lose or not. I am glad that I did.
I don't really understand the turkey thing. I eat it. I don't think it is a big deal.

I hope you all are doing good today. I have 48 ounces of water down. Not much more to go today.

talk to you soon,

marciew 01-08-2002 06:42 PM

Hey ladies!

Well had a great day yesterday but not so hot today. Ate a little too much and got hungry more today than usual. I did weigh just a second ago and was down 2 pounds. But I am also coming off of TOM. So who knows? Gonna try and do real good at dinner. Getting ready to jump on the ole treadmill.

Crystal~Great job on your aerobics and on the loss!
Jibbelle~Good luck with this semester!
Nancy~Hang in there! The holidays are a tough time! Now that they are over you will get back on track! Good luck and know that we are all here for you!
Lose~Congrats on the loss...sticking to the program can be tough but just think how good you will feel when you are at your goal!!

On my last bottle of water ladies. Remember the 2 pound challenge this week! We can do it!!

Marciew:wave:

Jibbelle 01-09-2002 03:59 PM

Hello all-

The semester is off to a good start....I think I am really going to like this class. They are so much easier when you like them!

I went to the center today. This will be the first time in forever that I actually went in 3 times in one week! I will go back Saturday for an official weigh in. Will post and updated weight then.

Marcie-
Two pounds down in GREAT! Way to go!!!! Looks like you already made your two pound goal for the week!

The weather is incredible here today. It must be around 60. This is not typical Missouri weather for this time of year!! I LOVE IT!

dianem1 01-09-2002 04:11 PM

Hi Everyone:
Everybody seems to be in the swing of things.
I stayed the same from last Saturday I was not to worried about it though because I am feeling more OP lately and I felt that was important. I exercise about 5-6 times a week.
Don't feel bad about the gain Nancy I think I gained a little more than that I gained 5 pounds over Christmas I still have three more of it to get off to get to where I was.
Marcie great job losing you've worked so hard to get back, I think next time I will have seconds thoughts about cheating it is taking me a while to get back into it.
Jibbelle good luck this semester, my sons semester does not start until next week.
I weigh in again of Friday.

Jibbelle 01-09-2002 05:44 PM

I went to the grocery store and they had turkey breasts for 99 cents a pound. I bought a 5 pound one and put it in the oven this afternoon. Going to have yummy turkey to eat tonight...and all week! We are having a pretty hectic week, and this weekend will probably be the same, so it will be nice to have something easy to eat.

Anyone have any good recipe ideas for leftover turkey?? We have not posted any recipes in forever! I will see if I can find something good (and on plan) to post out of my LA cookbook (the old version).

Take care all-
Marcie

SpringManor 01-11-2002 01:03 PM

Hi Everyone. I am back again. I have not been good at all over the holidays but I want to get the rest of this weight off. So now the new year and I am more motivated. My husband is also going to do it with me so it might make it easier to stay on. I am laid off now so that makes eating harder for me. I am home and weekends had always been my downfall. But I am going to try. I and my husband are starting the Red Plan. We are doing it ourselves and not going to LA. I am using the Dr. Soy Bars as they are the same as LA Bars as far as I can tell. I will keep you all posted as to how I am doing. I will weigh myself today and post it and hopefully that will keep me going. You guys are all doing so well. I am especially proud of Jibbelle, she is such a motivator and keeps this list going. You too Marcie! You guys are the best help there is.

Lorrie

dianem1 01-11-2002 02:10 PM

Hi Everyone:
I have been behaving myself for a couple of days.
How is everyone doing?
I am on week 39 and just trying to stay motivated to finish the weight loss phase. I am exercising and fitting clothes that I am happy with. So, I am just trying to look for little things to stay motivated.
I use a treadmill about twice a week along with exercise tapes, and I have picked up my speed on the treadmill to about 4 miles per hour at first I did not notice and now when I go slower I am always pushing the speed button up.
Have a good day

Just Joined LAWL

Hi everyone, nice to meet all of you.

I just joined LA this week. I found out today I'll be on the Gold Plan (I need to lose 30 pounds). I'm a little disappointed that I only get 2 starches a day, but I am committed to doing this so I'll just have to get over it. I have boxes of clothes that don't fit (too small) and I'm determined to get back into them.

I'm glad I found this board you all seem so supportive of each other. I'm looking forward to getting to know all of you.

Linzy

155.2/153.4/125

SpringManor 01-11-2002 04:55 PM

Welcome Linzy. We are a very supportive group. So anything we can help you with, we sure will try. You must not have to much to lose for them to start you on the gold plan. That is quite a restrictive one I think.

Diane, you are doing good to be using the treadmill and exercising. I need to do more exercise. I do get some just taking care of my dogs. I have 10 dogs to train and take care of. I show them in conformation. They keep me busy somewhat.

Lorrie :p

Jibbelle 01-11-2002 05:28 PM

Welcome back Lorrie-
Good luck to both you and your husband. I am sure that together you two and do this! 10 dogs??? are they all yours?

Linzy-
Welcome to the thread and best of luck to you on the plan. If you have any questions about the plan feel free to ask. I am not sure how many different answers you will get though!

Diane-
Sounds like you are doing great on that treadmill. I wish I had your motivation! Keep it up!

Marcie-
I guess tomorrow is the last day of the week and the end to the two pound challenge. I will go to the center in the morning to weigh in. I dont think I lost two pounds, but we will see. I have been really careful the the carbs this week and that seems to help a lot!

I just found out today that I have to go to a 4 day meeting in Madison, WI in February. BRRRRR! I am not looking forward to meals. They will all be catered or eaten out so it will be tough. I get to fly up there on the corporate jet. I have never flown on it so it may be fun! No frequent flyer miles though. :dizzy:

I am going to make a chocolate shake and try to figure out what kind of turkey suprise I can make tonight.

Good luck to everyone who has weigh ins today and tomorrow.

marciew 01-11-2002 06:07 PM

Hey everyone!!

Lorrie~I am so glad to see you back! We missed you!

Diane~I am so happy to hear you say that you are doing well! It feels so good when the clothes fit that you want to be wearing!

Jibbelle~Its okay if you didn't lose 2 pounds..a loss is a loss is a loss! I think just the thought of having a challenge helps us all stay on track!

Linzy~Welcome! If you stick to the plan I promise you that it will work!

Well, I guess we should all weigh tomorrow and post when we do! Let's see how much we all lost combined together!! Let's keep it up ladies! We are all so pumped and are going to win this battle!!

Talk to you all tomorrow!
Marciew

dietingrme 01-12-2002 09:28 AM

Hey Everyone,

I'm glad to hear from Lorrie too! Good Luck Lorrie! that's great that your hubby is going OP with you... I hope that you two will have lots of success!

Linzy, great to have you aboard... the plan works if you stay on it.

Everyone seems to be managing well with the exception of me... I got off to a great start... but the sneaky  seemed to keep me eating over the holidays... anything & everything... I've had one event after anouther & can't seem to get bakc OP

But, I wish the continued success for everyone!

I have some great news to share .. we are going to be grandparents again... our daughter's... her 1st... our son's son just turned 11....

then i have some not so good news... got a call from my dr... they say now after 12 days that someone else read my x-ray... not a cracked rib... maybe an air-pocked in my lung... a collapsed lunged... duh... i've never smoked... but, may be from other causes... not for sure... mad chest x-ray late Fri... still waiting on call... going to call Mon if i haven't heard & even reguesting going to a specialist if they say x-ray is clear...

don't feel the greatest... gotta get well so i can start baby-proofing the house, & continue spoiling my grandson & getting him to help me spoil the baby when it arrives... don't have due date... little early... hope to determine on the 21st by ultra sound... just praying for a healthy one..

not sure about LA for me at this point... may have to bow out due to health... just unsure... regardless... i'll keep touch here with you ladies... you've been great to lean on... i still need you... my pounds are not dropping off... I hope that each of you remain a bunch of loosers... keep up the good work... just take care of yourselves.

Best wishes to all,
nancy

Jibbelle 01-12-2002 11:16 AM

Nancy-
I am sorry to hear about the lung/rib situation. I hope you get to feeling better really soon. If you decide to stop LA, please come visit with is still!! Congrats on grandbaby...how exciting!!!

Well.....I went to weigh in and I wasnt down or up. Exactly the same as last week! ARGH!!!! Better than a gain...but I can do better. I think this is two weeks in a row with no loss. I am going to try really hard this week. If I do not lose, then I will do take off next weekend.

The great manager at our center left! I am so mad. They told me today that she was moving back to Texas. She did such an awesome job. They said they will have a temporary manager from another center until they hire a new one. I hope they can find one as good as the last one. Will have to wait and see.

Take care all! Hope you were bigger losers this week than me!

marciew 01-12-2002 12:02 PM

Hey ladies!
Nancy~I am so happy for you about the baby! But I am so sorry to hear about your lung. Please continue to come here!

Jibbelle~Don't be frustrated...you have done so well! Is it time for them to perhaps move you to another color? Maybe gold? Just curious!

Well, here's my weigh in....just got off the scale and I am down 5 pounds for the week. Can't really believe it but I will take it. I had TOM last week so maybe that is part of it. But I did exerise 4 days so far this week so maybe that is helping! So there's my report. -5 pounds for the week! I hope everyone had a good week!! Don't forget the water this weekend!

Marciew

Jibbelle 01-12-2002 01:24 PM

MarcieW-

I am at 247 right now and I am supposed to switch to the purple plan (I think) at 239. So maybe you right. If I dont lose next week I will ask them about switching a little early.

I have been cheating just a little...so maybe that is the problem too. I will work extra hard at staying on plan this week and see what happens.

Congrats on your loss Marcie! You are really back on track. I think the exercise coupled with the plan works wonders!!!! KEEP IT UP!

dianem1 01-12-2002 04:37 PM

Hi Ladies:
Jibbelle I might do the take-off this week also, have you ever done the two day take off before, sometimes I find it tough. But it does get that extra bit off that I need once in a while. I have been cheating a bit to, to be honest it is not very satisfying even though I still do it. My manager has not been in either, she is in the hospital. She is going to have a baby and is having trouble with constipation. She was doing the LA program before she was pregnant but now it seem she blew it off totally off and she has been eatting rubens and french fries you think she would try to eat better than that at least to keep healthy and not gain to much weight .
Marcie great job I need some of your energy. It is great when the weight comes off isn't it. It is good to have you back and on track and feeling good about yourself again.
Nancy congrats on your new grandchild. Do try to stick with us
even if you can't do LA . The cheating has gotten me down also but I just keep trying. I fake it, if that makes since. Just to get over it and keep going, some days are good and some days are so bad.
Lorrie all kinds of exercise counts and taking care of dogs is a lot of work.
Welcome Linzy I did not like the two starches a day either when I started but then that is the types of food I would look for.
Good luck on the program.
Have a good weekend

I think I am going to wait and see how I do this week. If I am not down by Saturday then I am either going to do Take Off or ask them to switch my plan from Red to the next one down (purple I think). Just have to wait and see.

I have never done the two day take off. I have only done the take off once and that was the three day when I first started the plan. I dont really like doing the take off. Do you get LA lites when you do it? I can not remember.

honey55bun 01-13-2002 11:03 AM

wasn't getting my updates

Hey ladies. i just thought that you all weren't posting. I didnt get my little email reminders. I missed a lot.

Well, I haven't weighed since Wednesday. So if I go by that weight I did make the 2 lb challenge, but I think that I probably gained some of that back.

The past couple of days I have done horrible. Today I am back op. In the past month I have bought a house, I have also been trying to conceive since March 01. I have been quite anxious lately, (boardering on anxiety attacks) and have been down. So I eat instead of dealing with it. (I'm a therapist, I should know better :) Anyway, I am determined to get back op today and the rest of the week.

I hope all is going well today for everyone. I guess I need to check the website more often instead of waiting for my updates.

I will post tomorrow after weigh in. Talk to ya later,

Jibbelle 01-13-2002 11:43 AM

Crystal-
I know they had some database problems the end of last week, so maybe that is why you didnt get the email reminders.

Congrats on making the two pound challenge! Sounds like you are busy with the new house. I know how that is! I bought my first a couple years ago. At the time I was traveling from MO to GA every week for work, so I wasnt even home to enjoy it! Sure is good to be here now though.

dianem1 01-13-2002 01:28 PM

Crystal:
I have not been getting E-mail reminders for a while. For the past couple of weeks I think.
Jibbelle do you still get them. You are allowed 2 lites a day on the two day take off, but not fruits or starches and the protein is only 6oz for the tow days.
It sounds like a few of us our having the attack of the muncies, so this week that is my goal to stick to program for the week without cheating.
Have a good Sunday
Diane

Jibbelle 01-13-2002 02:28 PM

I never signed up to get the email reminders. I dont need anything else in my inbox!

The first time I did the take off I didnt get any LA lites. Having 2 per day would make it a lot easier.

SpringManor 01-13-2002 04:07 PM

MarcieW....Great job. I will let you know how I do, I weigh myself on Fridays. So far I am doing good as can be...lol My husband is doing good also, I know he will lose more and faster being a guy, but that is okay. My starting weight is 236 now. Bummer cause I had been down to 202. But I will get it off.

Lorrie :)

honey55bun 01-15-2002 08:05 AM

I got in and weighed yesterday. I was up 3/4lb. But I still made my challenge last week. I am now 181. I lost 2.5 last week. My goal is to get in the seventies this week.

Does anyone else have a goal? How is everyone? I guess the site was down for a while. I had trouble logging on last night.

Gotta get ready for work.

Jibbelle 01-15-2002 11:52 AM

My goal for the week is to just be down!!! I have been stuck at the same weight since before Christmas. If I am not down Saturday when I go in I am going to ask to switch to my next plan or maybe do takeoff. I am supposed to switch at 239, but I am pretty close to that. Maybe my body knows it is time!

Have to wait and see how I do though. I am not cheating at all this week...so far I have been really good!

brennie2 01-16-2002 03:18 PM

LA weight loss program

Hi Everyone!

I am new to the sight. Am excited to have found the support. I have been reading all your postings and am very encouraged. I also am have been on the LA Weight Loss Program and have had some ups and downs. I lost almost 30lbs the first 3 months and then the holiday season hit and hit hard! I gained back about 10 lbs and have been back on the program for 1 and 1/2 weeks now and have lost that 10.

I do have a question. Does anyone know if it is a necessity to buy the lite bars? They are so expensive. I see similar products in the grocery store that are half the price.

brennie2
(Brenda)

Jibbelle 01-16-2002 05:32 PM

Brennie-

Glad you found us! The more the merrier. I have seen some soy based, high protein bars at the grocery store that had the exact same calorie and fat content as the LA bars. They were almost half the price. I think these would work fine. Actually....I think you could do great on the program without the bars at all...but I NEED the chocolate fix!

I went to the center to weigh in and was at the same weight that I have been at for almost 3 weeks. I asked her if there was something I can do and she suggested the "5 day plateau break". I thought that sounded interesting....so I said sure! Well...you still follow your normal plan, but you get NONE of the following: limited foods, free foods, frozen or fast foods. You also have to increase your water to 10-12 glasses a day. I am going to try it starting tomorrow. I will hate not having limited/free foods like salad dressing and cottage cheese.

How is everyone else this week?
