Kashi Go Lean

  • Hey Gang!
I just bought some of this for the first time today. If I were to have it for breakfast with milk do I have to count it as a protein (CarbCraver) or can I count it as a starch and a milk?? I don't see it on the regular cereal list.
    Thanks,
    Kim
  • Kim,
In my new book, it's listed under the starches. 1/2 C. = 1 starch so, a starch and a dairy for your milk.

Here's some others if anybody is interested: BTW, this is for the gold plan.

    bran cereals-1/2 c.
    unsweetened corn flakes- 3/4 c.
    granola-low fat-1/4 c.
    grape nuts- 1/4 c.
    grits-1/2 c.
    puffed cereals- 1 1/2 c.
    shredded wheat- 2 biscuits - 1/2 c.
  • I have little to contribute to the actual question, but on a side-note, I found some Kashi Go Lean Crunch at my new grocery store (which has far better selection for EVERYTHING than my old one did), and I was going to buy it since everyone seems to love it so much... but I was shocked to see that the calories are so high! Would you guys say that it's worth it?
  • Icount my half cup of kashi go lean as a 1/2 protein as advised by my COD I have been doing this for the last 14 weeks with great success. I eat 5 times a week because of the high protein count it keeps me full longer......just my 2 cents worth
  • Yes, and I agree with Danette. It is high in calories, but they are good calories, and you stay full for a long time.
  • What about the Kashi Heart to Heart? I think that is what it is called. I dont see it listed and I have not asked at the center but wondered if anyone uses it? I have had it before and its kind of like a cheerios.
  • what about the kashi go lean Crunch???? I have been eating this maybe 2 days a week!!! I thought as long as salt or sugar were not listed in the first 5 ingredients that it was safe!!!! I hope it is safe...I can actually eat 3/4 a cup plain and I am counting it as 1 starch. Sometimes I have it with 4oz of soymilk and then I count it as 1 starch and 1/2 a dairy. Is this right?????? Keep in mind: I am only on the blue book thus far and in the 3rd week...I am a beginner..again! The only reason I did not start completely over from the purple book (I think that is the beginning) Is because I work out 3-4 times a week.
  • okay after consulting my food guide...I see that go lean crunch is a CC and I can have 1 cup up to 2 times a week. I am gonna cut back to 1 time a week!
