Good for you, Kay! I, on the other hand have not been doing good lately. My DH had an ice cream social at his vet clinic and the jamoca almond fudge keeps calling my name. Hope to get back on track real soon.
Congratulations, Kay - on those 10 pounds you lost! I found them!
Carol, your ice cream is my beer. I also have not been doing "good" lately. Is there such a thing as Intuitive Drinking?
Well, Pals, I was eye-rolling and head-shaking yesterday while watching the Food Network at a friend's house. Guy's Big Bite was on and he said "Jallies" (pronounced "Hallies") for jalapenos. Where will it ever end? Of course I formed the phrase "yummy veggie jallie sammie" in my head which immediately took away any appetite I might have had, but made me want a beer. Or six. Kay - as a teacher, does this baby talk drive you nuts? Makes me want to go barfie. ARGH. *blood pressure rise alert*
I mean it's ok to have a "y" sounding suffix on an adjective because those are realy words (silly, slimy, spiny) but to cutsify every noun by putting a "y" or an "ie" on it drives me bonkers. Jallies. Geez.
I noticed some here say breaky I suppose for breakfast. I never noticed that this was becoming so popular....but now that you mention it, Kay........ I wonder where that got started. Did another 22 qt of tomatoes yesterday and did a little tilling. The weeds are about to take over thet garden just like they do every Sept. We still get a lot of produce anyway......and give plenty away. I have a plan for next year, Lord willing, to buy a grass catcher for the lawn mower and paper and mulch the whole garden. Then I can forget about tilling. The tomatoes are the only ones mulched right now and my SIL taught me do do that to keep disease away. Works great.
I thought I'd stop in for a little Chatty hee hee....
My name ends in a "Y" and is supposed to be one syllable. I lived in Arkansas for a while and it became a two syllable word. Now that was cool! I actually had a teacher ask me how to pronounce my name!
I am cracking up about intuitive drinking. Isn't that when you pass out... stopping when full?
Carol, My son would love to come help you with the garden. He loves tomatoes. My grandma has a big garden, but she lives in Kansas, so he is always bugging me about going to see her.
I am looking forward to having another day off tomorrow! We need more holidays!
Kay-ie???
I think one of the reasons I'm so critical about those "ie's" is because when I was little I had relatives who would do that to my name too and it made me mad. Joannie (pronounced Jo-anny) is just WRONG.
I saw Fiddler a few weeks ago. Work is keeping her extremely busy. I don't think I'm saying that as a blah-blah-blah thing, but i mean REALLY. From her description of it, it's busy to max tolerance. But she is doing well; we had a really nice time at Farmers' Market and then to lunch.
Well, this exercise thing at the gym is a big alarm in the face. I have turned into one of those people I never wanted to; the fat old lady wimp who can't even stand on one leg in a fitness class. I went to a class in Centergy today (yoga-pilates) and I feel like I tried to climb Mt. Everest. And that is with not being able to do 90% of the class. UGH. I am humiliated.
Jo, I know that feeling WELL!!!! How do you get out of it? Everytime I get in a good exercise routine something seems to squelch it. Like recently I injured both my wrists at different times and it seems to be taking forever for them to heal. They hurt all the time and I can't lift hardly any weight. I can still do the eliptical but our basement was flooded so yesterday was the first day I had tried it in several weeks. I've been so tired lately, too. Sorry to whine.
How to get out of it: I have a plan. I will start out with the Nautilus circuit at the gym. It can be made as wimpy as you want. And as humiliating as it is, at least I can get in those positions, like mostly sitting in a chair. Then slowly but surely just keep moving the weights up. This will do nothing for my coordination and balance but at least it should get the muscles to where not every blasted movement seems impossible. And I can swim. (wimpily there too.) Oh yeah and in my spare time I'm going to practice standing on one leg. WAAH.
It's bee soooooo hot here again. I read an interesting comment the other day. A woman said that 2T of peanut butter a day can take off water weight. Ever hear that? I tried it and it did seem to help. This heat really wears me out, escpecailly when canning. We do have an air conditioner in the bedroom for which I'm thankful. I finally got back on the eliptical the other day. Now to make it a daily habit. Eating has been so so. We have company again so more cooking to do. How are you doing Jo and Kay?
I hadn't heard of the peanut butter thing. I can make my own nut butters in my vita-mix but haven't done it in awhile. That gives me an idea though of making some combination nut butters like peanut-cashew. I like making my own because I don't add any salt or sugar. Just nuts.
I had my first "training" yesterday at the gym. This is the hardest part: the beginning, getting back in the habit of going. I think I was meant to be a house cat. Just lie around all day.. .
