LA Weight Loss #36
All of those pages of posts were make me dizzy! :dizzy: I thought I would start a new thread.
Marcie W- I have no idea about the LA jello...my center does not carry it. About your gain...dont forget clothes and time of day make a big difference at your weigh ins. I am sure you will be down next time!!! I am in Augusta until Thursday am. I am still doing well at staying on plan. I had Subway today for dinner...it was yummy! I cant wait to get back to St. Louis and weigh in. I may even stop at the center on the way home from the airport! I think I am addicted to those silly scales!:lol: I need to get to to bed so I can get up bright and early. I am working 10 days in a row....but I will get 4 days off when I get back. It will take me that long to catch up on housework....I am scared to see what my house looks like when I get back!!! Take care all! |

Jibbelle Glad you are doing so well. What did you have at Subway. I am getting bored with the same food. Marcie I never heard of the jello either. But I do have two LA lites a day. I am at the point where I need a kick in the pants, I am tired of this diet, I want something different. Only 21 Pounds to go but I feel I could cheat big time. Things that I do not normally eat are catching my eye. I am even drinking to much diet soda just to stay away from things, don't mention the water I drink that also. I got weighed today up 1/4pound that did not bother me so much because I was down on my scale this morning. But I told the councelor I was tired of diet and sometimes I do not want to here how well I am doing I only have 21 Pounds to go, how far I've come. She did not help me much. Jibbelle, hope the rest of your trip goes well...keep up the good work! Diane, I know that the diet gets old sometimes but is there any piece of clothing that you would just love to get into? Try that on and see how far you are away from wearing it..that always gets me motivated! They have discontinued jello at my center so I must find something new that i like. The box says 7 servings, then it says serving size 1 cup, suggested serving size 1/4 cup. So I had been having 1/4 a cup 2 times a day and there was 4 1/4 cups in a packet. Anyway...they told me that i needed to eat 2 packets a day. Not sure if they just want me to buy more or b/c they really mean it. Who knows??? My center is really bad about being out only for the money. They told me that I had to buy more lites or I could not continue the program. She said you have been on the program for 10 weeks and only bought 5 weeks worth of lites and then i told her that I hadn't been on the plan in about 6 weeks b/c of the job situation. I am like I will buy the lites when I get rid of what i have at home! Went to the store today and stocked up on fruit and veggies! Hope you all have a great weekend!! marciew |

How are things going?? Well, I was put on the purple plan. How many different type of plans are out there? Not feeling like I am eating enough though... Maybe it's just temporary, but once lunch hits I get the hungers... I have to weigh in on Monday - kind of nervous.... I think I'll make it to the gym today to make myself feel better... I bought one of those Diet Diary's at Barnes and Nobles today feel like it will give me a real life look at what I am eating besides the diary they gave me. The diary is more detailed... Marcie - I think my center is the same way and that is exactly why I'm concerned about continuing this program. I am even considering getting another job to pay for it. Weighed in today up again I kind of expected ii. I ate out yesterday. I hate when the councelors change I thought this one really liked the job. I knew she did not get along with the new manager but I thought she was going to stick out, Oh well. I am finding why bother asking there names they are not there long enough before the next person comes. I can't wait until I am finished. I am finding it easier during lunch to use the frozen dinners I hope I do not go up I'll try it for a week and see what happens. My weigh in was terrible today I waited almost twenty minutes and interupted her and said I have to leave. She weighed me before I left but I am not sure she even wrote it down, she was doing a new sign up I think she needs to worry about the clients that she does have also. Merri I started on the Purple plan and then I went to the gold. I found in the begining, even now that weighing my food made it easier to make sure I was getting the right amount of food. I still have trouble with the vegetables I find them harder to measure. Marcie thanks for the advice I am hanging in there, I like to use the stuff that I have at home also, why should you by more when it is sitting at home. I hope they do not give you to much trouble. Sorry to hear that you are so frustrated with the plan. I have to agree that it gets boring after a while. I also tend to get frustrated more when I am on a plateau. I plotted my weight loss on a MS Excel spreadsheet....with days on the plan on the x axis and weight on the y axis. I can definately see a trend of a week long plateau each month. It may help the rest of you to do this too. I dont get so frustrated when I bounce up and down for one week out of the month now. I know I will recover soon enough! The following week I usually lose more than I do the rest of the month. When I go to Subway I usually have a 6 inch turkey on white (no cheese) with mustard, lettuce and tomato. I count it as 2 starches, 1 protein and 1 veggie. I sometimes get the roasted chicken breast. It has a little more fat, but I find it to be more filling. I am leaving for home on Thursday morning. We seem to be making great progress here in Augusta. I was thinking we would leave a day early, but I dont think so anymore. I will just be happy to board that plane Thursday! I am going to the center as soon as I get home. My pants seem to be a bit loser...so I think I have been losing while I was here. Have to wait and see what the scales say though! Merri- There seems to be several plans. I am on the red plan until I get to 239, and then I switch to purple. I also switch to gold sometime after that. Sorry for such a long post! :D I will try to be a little more brief next time. Take care all! |

I think I need to go back to basics and stop fooling around with these frozen dinners even though they are something different to eat I do not think they are satisfying me. I'm back! Had a good time... not much rest! didn't stay OP, but don't think that I did too bad... will find out Mon or Tues... froze this week at center... Sounds like everyone has done pretty well! Got in around 5 AM, napped about 4 hrs... fixing to go to bed early. Have wedding this weekend & hs reunion next... another wedding Thanksgiving. Lorrie, I'm glad to hear that you have your surgery behind you. I hope that you are feelings lots better real soon! Diane, sorry that you are having a rough time... but, look how far that you have come... good job... you can finish... just be patient & kind to yourself. I really had planned to do better... but with more than 17 hrs on the bus each day (2 days) & 10 hrs... i think that i did pretty darn well... if i happen to be up a pound or two... i will just have to work a little harder... I'm back!
I just went to the center and weighed in after being gone for 11 days. I was down 3 lbs since I weighed in last. Not too bad!
I did fairly well at staying on the plan while I was gone. The only "no no" I had was a grape slush from Sonic. It was YUMMY! I missed some foods here and there, but for the most part I didnt eat things I was not supposed to eat. I am pretty pleased with how it turned out. My center has a digital scale now....I am so glad they got rid of the "doctor's" scale. It was very dependent on where you stood, who was weighing you...this one seems to be much easier and more consistant. Hope everyone is doing well....it seems to have been pretty quiet the last few days! |

Glad you both are home safely. Jibbelle I am jealous you did well even while away good Job. I had a better day feel more balanced today. I wish my center would get a new scale the last time I weighed something came undone and they put it back together. I know how you feel about being weighed some moved down further and then when you went back the next person moved it up higher, sometimes I would tell them where I wanted it. I don't weigh in until Saturday. I have 12 weeks left on my plan. I can't fool around anymore. i need to get it finished at this point. And you are right Jibbelle not much going on. Jibbelle you are really on a role good job! Marcie getting back on track is hard but once you really set your mind to it, it won't seem as hard. How is the job going? I weighed in today, did O.K. I am finding it at this point that I have had enough of going three times a week, I feel like I get the rush job each time I go. Probably also I don't like the councelor that much either she seems kind of phony to me, so I feel like I have a negative attitude when i see her. I just need to stay on track for myself. Are you assigned a counselor or do you just get whoever happens to be there? I agree that the three times a week thing is a bit excessive. I only go in two days a week now. I would really prefer to just go once a week...but I am not sure I would keep to the plan as well if I do that. For now I am sticking with two times/week. Marcie- I am glad you are enjoying your job. Good luck getting back into the swing of things! It is tough, but I know you can do it. Just think how great it would be to get in a bikini next summer!!! |

I usually see you ever is there. I tried sticking to one counselor but she was there one day gone the next and they do not say anything to you about what happened, they have trouble with clients leaving if the counselor leave. It seems like the ones you really like do not stay very long. I am skipping my weigh in today not feeling well anyway, so I will go on Wednesday. Have a great week. I have had the same problem at my center. The same person does not work there for more than a few weeks. There is, however, a girl that has been working there for a couple months now. There are also several centers in St. Louis and they kind of rotate through the centers.
I also skipped weigh in today. I was at work for over 12 hours. Stopped and got Subway on the way home. I am exhausted and going to bed early! I missed two fruits on my plan today. Guess it is better to miss than to eat something not on the plan. |

I am thinking maybe it is the time of day, water retention or what I was wearing. I am not going to be too concerned until after my next weigh in on Saturday. I always go every saturday morning and try to wear the same kind of clothes. This way I know I have an accurate weight at least once a week. Hopefully today was bogus. Argh! How is everyone else doing????? |

That is why I did not go weigh in on Monday because I knew I was up, I go tomarrow so hopefully I am at least the same. I do notice though that when I do skip something on plan I also go up. I try to wear the same type of clothes (light) when I weigh in. I have a question for you if you do not mind answering, what type of eater are you I am a binger big time, I found myself the other day falling into the same type of eating I guess I thought after six months I would have some kind of control thinking I could stop eating when I wanted to. And I even did not think about it till the next day. I hope when I reach goal that I am more aware. But maybe giving up foods that I like for so long is part of the problem and I know the solution also. Have you bought any of the vitamins from LA I was taking the FB500 for awhile and I stop taking it last week and I had a headache for a couple of days I am not sure I want to start taking them again, The center will most likely complain they just want money most of the time. I gained most of my weight as a result of taking lots of steroid and anti-inflamatory medications. I have maintained that high wieght because of binge eating and lack of exercise. I agree that it is a hard habit to break. I find myself wanting to do it sometimes too. Especially if I am home alone and bored (which doesnt happen to often). I am currently taking my own One-A-Day vitamins and a calcium tablet too. Because of a very rare degenerative joint disease I had I need loads of calcium that this diet obviously doesnt provide. I also take the FB500 after lunch or dinner if I eat much fat (especially if I eat out). A bottle lasts me about 1.5 months. I dont take the rest of the supplements. I am not sure about that Celluway stuff....as a biochemist I am pretty sure it wont work. I am also a little scared of the Trimax because of the blend of herbs it has. The herbs are natural but are very similar to synthetic medications that were banned by the FDA years ago. I am not sure if it is very good for you. I was going to try a little experiment with the FB500 that I have not done yet. Take a glass of water, put in a tablespoon of oil, break open a tablet and pour it in. Does it bind up the oil (in globs) when you mix it in??? If not, then it wont work in your tummy either. I have not tried this yet...it is on my to do list. Your new Christmas goal looks very good. I am sure you can do it!!! We can all get to out goals together!!!! Speaking of all....where is everyone!???!??! Take care all |

well, jibbelle... this won't be news to you (sorry) since we chatted briefly on IM. Well, I finally made it back to the center... I had froze last week since I was out of town... then, when I returned... we had a wedding with which i helped decorate & cater... have been so busy.... then i have my hs reunion this weekend & another wedding of a close friends' daughter... sat after thanksgiving.... just too too much going on... no time to diet! :D I sure dreaded going back to the center.... I had not stayed OP entirely... on the bus tour... it sure was hard... traveling for hrs at a time... made me ill & tired & ready to eat almost anything... fortunately, i was only up 1/4 of a pound.. not to bad in my book... considering all the rush & stress. well, i saw a new counselor... didn't even bother to tell me her name... nor did she address me by mine & she had that written down for her when i signed in & when she pulled my chart. Decided right away that I wasn't going to ask.. that was her job to do the greeting... yeah, right... she's just there to get a paycheck... told myself that i was there for ME & I count! anyhow, she himhauled (spelling?) around... scanning my diary quickly... didn't even notice the wedding cake or the spinach dip until i pointed it out... oh well... i know what i did & i 'm not beating myself up... she started pushing the Take off drink... duh, i've been down that $20+ road before... told her that i had had good results the 1st time & poor results the 2nd... told her that since they needed $20... show me something different like the 2-day take off plan... she said that she could do that... so, i opted for that... told her that i was enjoying my fruits too much & that to go without them for 2 days sure beat going with out them 3 days... not sure if it will help... but felt like since i had gotten off plan... it might motivate me once again.... know that i could do so much better if things would just slow up a bit... duh, the story of my life... too much to do & no time to rest. didn't mean to gripe so... just tired & a little aggrevated with myself first & counselor 2nd... think that some of you can probably relate to that by what i've been reading. anyhow, we got to remember why we are doing this... for ourselves! we count! & remember our goals... we can stick together and make this trip! thanks for allowing me to vent... hope that i can have higher spirits next post. It sure does sound like all of the centers have the same personel problems! Our center has been without a manager for a couple months. A new one started this week and I am hoping she works out. If she is good then maybe the staff turnover will not be so bad. I am sick of seeing new faces every time I go in. It would be better for all of the clients if they could see the same 2 or 3 counselors all the time. Guess what I would like is more personalized service....but maybe we are not paying enough to get that...yeah right!!! OK...so enough venting! I came home sick from work yesterday but I am feeling much better today. I called my boss this morning and I am taking a personal day off. I still have one more left to use before the end of the year. Lots of vacation days too! I have so much school work and house work I need to do. It will be nice to have the day to catch up on things. Question for you Nancy...so what is the difference between the two and three day take off plan? Other than the length? I have a feeling I am going to be doing that again soon. Argh. |

I'll try not to get off on the counselors again (this time).. although I'm in full agreement with you. Now you can lose weight at the speed of lite -- in just 2 days! During this phase of your program, use the following menu: TakeOff drink (4 oz takeoff w/ 4 oz water... 4 times p/day) Water (must drink 6/8 (8-oz) glasses of water for these 2 days!) 2 green veggies 6-oz cooked lean protein 1/2 to 3/4 tsp Morton Lite Salt... required each day No more than 2 regual 6-oz cups of coffedd while on TakeOff ~~~~~~ Alot less food than the 3 day in which you eat, eat, eat! I wouldn't have known about the 2-day if not for having read a posting here... many weeks ago. I believe that i have done the 3 day express... 3 times.. when i started... dropped 17 lbs... unreal.. remember tom was visiting... he always messes me up big time 2nd time... lost round 5 lbs, 3rd time... only lost about 1 3/4... expensive loss that 3rd time... bout $10 p/lb... :lol: i should have been thankful that it was a loss... anyhow, i just am so busy that i didn't think that i had the time to eat, eat, eat... so, when she mentioned takeoff... i asked what about the 2-day... what does that involve :?: i didn't really have a clue... now we know... lots of fluids, little food... hopefully lots of trips to potty...:lol: tell lbs to go bye,bye... wondered if a fluid pill wouldn't do the same thing... hopefully, this takeoff will be a lasting boost to speeding up my metobolism & not just moving fluid retention... will know tomorrow... good thing that i didn't eat all my bars while on trip to ohio... she didn't think to ask if i had any & i didn't either... have a nice day.... you can come do my housework too!:D I hope that everyone else is behavin.... be good & be safe, Nanc |
Hi LA Weight Loss Buddies!
I'm a gold plan girl -- started out one month ago at 156.8, and weighed in at the center at 150 this week, although my scales at home show a loss of 11 lbs. But, much more exciting, I was measured for the first time today. I had a loss of 14.75 inches in bust, waist, hips and one thigh. Woohoo!
My plan is modified to eliminate the fruit, which gives me an extra 2 milks, 3 veggies and one starch. I hate, hate, hate fruit. But I have found a fun way to eat the veggies (keep in mind that I'm a Southern girl). I use frozen squash slices or frozen broccoli to make single servings of squash or broccoli casserole. Take required # of cups of squash slices or broccoli pieces (1 cup, 2 cups, 3 cups whatever) Cook these on high in a sauce pan with water until mushy. Season with lite salt and lots of pepper. When water cooks away, add diet margarine and sauté a little (if you don't have a fat left for the day, just eliminate this and it's fine) Then add how ever many milks you want to use in the form of shredded lowfat cheddar or colby (a quarter cup is a serving) and get it all melty. Add a tablespoon of fat free sour cream (I count this as a "free") and a serving of melba toast crunched into crumbs. Mix it all up and serve. Yum!! |
Your recipe sounds yummy bunny. I will have to try it sometime. It would be good this winter when fresh veggies get expensive and I start using more frozen ones. Congrats on your loss so far and good luck to you!!

hungry & stressed

So far today, I've had 3 of my 4 TakeOff drinks, 1 LA choc peanut butter bar & 7 glasses of water... i like water... so, i usually drink lots of it... but, i have a headache... partly cause i'm hungry & then stressed about reunion & upcoming wedding... saving my 2nd LA Bar for my afterschool snack.. trying to last until 3 pm... ain't that silly... still after all these years... i want to eat something at 3 pm planning on either fish or chicken tonight... trying to decide what veggies... lettuce is on the list of choices... but i don't believe that dressing is... so, i considering cabbage, string green beans or zucchini... no dairy... so, although bunny's recipe sounds yummy... it's off limits today & tomorrow... believe that i could eat a entire 9 x 13 dish of it all by myself... wondering if this will only make me hungrier than ever & make me mess up worse after these 2 days... i'm trying to be good... so far, i've stayed OP... just darn headache... better close & finish bios... errands to run... gotta go do payroll tomorrow & pay company bills... then go to p'cola to pick up class booklet for reunion that i had printed... so, hopefully... i will be running so... that i won't mind not eating... saving some water bottles to take takeoff drink in.... trying to figure out pit stops along the way to take potty breaks... :lol: by the way... it's nice to meet you bunny! thanks for the recipe... it's always nice to have someone share recipes, especially those adaptable for our plans... thank you! i wish you continued success with your diet and weight loss... stay in touch... later, ladies, nanc |

It sounds like we all have the same problems at our centers and we live in different areas. Nancy on the three day is that the one with the oranges and protein, I heard they are not doing that one anymore. I will probably do the take off next week, I go through times where I am ready to finish and other times I can't stand it anymore. When I joined in April they had LA Express I still do that quiet often lately, they don't like when I do it but it works for me. They want me to buy the juice but you can only do that every two weeks. Nancy it is not as restictive as the take off, the starches are still gone and fat but some fruit is allowed and the protein amounts are still the same and I get to add an extra LA lite. Jibbelle thanks for the posts for awhile there I thought we were the only ones left. Let me know of your experiment. I take the trimax, now I am not so sure I want to. Well, this 2 day takeoff is over... I was to have gone to the center... my hubby was going to ride with me, but after work... we were both so tired... drained mentally & physically... that, I told him we could just come home... besides, I didn't feel well. This was very restrictive and I have had a headache for 2 days... managed to stay OP... but ready for some food... although, I did have a grilled chicken breast and some steamed cabbage tonight.... I was so hungry... but, I actually ate slow... even left a few bites... I was to have 2 green veggies..., but, I just had a double serving of the cabbage... Diane, the 3-day express is the one where you drink the orange takeoff drink, eat lots of protein, no fruit... limited starch, I think..maybenot... can't find my sheet right now... sorry... perhaps later. It's probably buried in some of this high school reunion mess... this weekend, yeah! I skipped the pep rally tonight... just to darn tired... so, I didn't push it.... reception tea, parade, ballgame, party.... party, family picnic, Sat... glad to see folks, but glad for it to get over... I have been working on the mess since July... time to move on... I hope that everyone has a great weekend... i hate that i didn't go weigh... got on scales here... although they are different than those at center... not much of a change for starving... will weigh again in the AM... can't get back to center until next week... oh well, I'll know better tomorrow perhaps... take care, nancy |

Diane, that's an incredible weight loss! I have lost 8.6 according to the center, but at home I measure 11 lbs (much better). I was SOOOOOO happy to break the 150 mark today at my weigh-in, especially in jeans.
I didn't tell this before, but actually I am trying to reach 130 at the center (which would be about 126 at home), because I want to quit smoking as soon as I reach my goal, and I am really happy at about 137, so I will have som wiggle room. So far I'm on plan, but I expect a plateau soon. Initial weight at LAWL: 156.8 Goal: 130 Current: 148.2 |

Hang in there! You can go eleven more weeks!!! The people at my center suggested you go 3 times a week, but they never said you had to go in that much in order to get your rebate. I hope that isnt the case or I will be really mad. I should ask I guess. Bunny- Congrats on the loss! You will be at goal before you even know it. I dont think I have weighed 130 since jr. high!! :lol: I just had my weigh in and I am down almost 2 lbs from last Saturday. Not too bad for such a hectic week! *pat on the back for me* It is coming off slowly but surely. I made my 25 lb loss milestone and I got to move my star at the center!!! They have stars with our names on them and as we reach milestones we move then down this wall labeled with Giant stars for 10lb, 25lb, etc. I think the next marker is at 40lb. That is where I want to be by Christmas (248lb). I will have to see how it goes. I am going to work hard. Hope everyone is having a great on plan weekend and drinking lots of water!!! |

Jibbelle that is what the manager said that I had to go in three times a week, I went today just in case let me know what your center says. I like the sound of your star board. Our center just has a board with people weight loss on it and I do not think it is updated regularly. i know my name was never on it and they did not even mention it. Maybe at 50 pounds I will say something. Congrats on your weight loss for the week it has been awhile for me to have lost 2 pounds in a week. The computer upgrade went O.k.? Bunny I am going for 135 at the center, I figure at home I will be like 132 or 133. I don't like plateau it seems like I am fighting them a lot lately. I can't wait to break the 150 mark at home I am getting so close, but I am watching the scale to much. When I first joined my center they had the stars up but never made me one. This new manager took down all the old ones a couple weeks ago....changed everything a bit...and started over with fresh stuff. The day I got my star I got to put it on the 10 lb wall. It is nice to have a visual record of your progress...and see where everyone else is too.
My mom quit smoking a few years ago as a new years resolution. She smoked from the time she was 18 until her late 40s. She said she feels so much better...especially her skin. And she said she tastes everything better too! Never thought about it, but I guess smoking messes up the taste buds. I have not backed up all my files yet, so I have not got my upgrade. My boyfriend is waiting on me to get my toosh in gear. I have just been so busy this weekend though! I am dropping my Christmas wish two lbs so I am at a round number....40 lbs down by Christmas. That way I can move my star again too. ;) |

Hi everyone. I am starting the 3 day protein/ oranges thing on my own. I don't know if I am going to go back. I think now I can try it on my own. I still plan on following the LA diet. I will see if I can do it or not on my own, if not I will go back.

Good luck Lorrie! If it helps, we can hold you to three weekly weigh-ins online :) And I've gotten some good advice for moving my foods around for quicker (or at least more reliable) weight loss, which I'd be happy to share.
