Default A little bummed..

I know I have been whinning on here a lot about not losing that much weight but it is really getting me down.
This week I only lost 0.4# when I WI at LAWL. It is very depressing.
She told me that I should wake up 1/2 hour early and eat breakfast before I do anything.. don't get dressed, don't wash up, don't wake up & feed my parrots that are screaming.. Just eat breakfast.
Do you all do this?? Eat before you do absolutely anything else???
To me it does not make much sense why 1/2 an hour make. I sit down and eat breakfast with in 1/2 hour of waking up.
oh well..
I am just so bummed that I am not losing weight like I was before. It is very depressing. I even switched up my starches and some of my other foods like eating veggies patties.
What else can I do??
I weigh myself at home ever am and I seem to lose weight every am.. I don't know why my afternoon weight is not showing weightloss.

Please I really need some suggestions.

Candice

Hi Candice,
I'm sorry, I don't have any magic advice - but I do want to encourage you to keep smiling and continue eating healthy. Sometimes when the scale doesn't make me very happy I try to remind myself that my body is much healthier, and healthier=better life. I'm sure that some of the others will have some better advice, but in the meantime, I hope you find some nonscale victories! (until the scale victories start kicking in again)

Well, to answer your last question first, your afternoon WI shows everything you've had to eat or drink through the day, which will always add to your total..

As for eating before you do anything.. Go back and read your message.. Getting dressed, taking a shower, feeding the birds.. Just moving around.. That's activity.. If you do all that and then eat.. the food just sits there.. But if you eat first, then do all that, your body will use the food as energy.. It may sound like small potatoes, but every activity you do helps just a little toward burning what you just ate..

I get up at 5 when the dogs start fussing and either cook a couple eggs or have a bowl of cereal while they eat and go out to do their business.. Then I take care of myself.. I know on those days when I get everything done first and then eat, the food just sits there on my 50 mile commute and morning at my office desk...

My COD staff recommends not wieghing in at home (not a problem since the scale we have is about 15 years old and a piece of innaccurate junk) so that my WI totals remain consistant on their scale.. Heck, i'm even nerveous about weighing in at the other LAWL near my office because I'm afraid it's not calibrated the same way. Also, by weighing in twice a day at home, what results you do see, will seem very small...

Keep your chin up.. You'll do it.. My wife is struggling with small successes too and is having to work hard at not getting discouraged..

Cheers!

Candi - please don't be bummed; I think a loss of any amount is great...think of the alternative.

There are a lot of people that are slow to wake up and shoving food down their mouths is not high on the priority list. I, for one, have always enjoyed my breakfast meal, but first I brush teeth, feed dogs, get dressed, make coffee, tidy things up, etc. It's probably 30 minutes after I wake up that I eat. If I were to eat, and then do all those things, I'd want another breakfast.

But Dan also has a valid point and a lot of health experts say eat something right away. But then, you have something like your Body for Life people that say wake up, drink water, work out really hard, and then eat.

I think you are doing fine - look at how much you've lost! Don'r be bummed and don't feel guilty if you fall out of bed and don't eat right away (sounds like they may be grasping for anything!)

I did change a few things about the way I am eating from the first 1/2 of my weight loss like I eat all 4 of my veggies at night.. I used to eat 1/2 of them during the day for lunch.. DH suggested I go back to eating 1/2 for lunch again. I will start doing that tomorrow.
I also used to eat my LA lite bars during the day and eat my last fruit for evening snack. dh suggested I go back to doing that lately I have been eating my last La lite bar for evening snack becuase I like the sweet in the evening .. I started that now.
I will try to wake up early and see if I can get in the routine of eating breakfast first thing in the am to jump start my metabolism like the COD said to see if this all helps.
DH also said I could try TO next week.
He knows how down I get when I don't get results like I like so it is nice to see him so encouraging!

Thank you! I understand what you guys are saying! I see how it is normal what I am doing now.. maybe she just wants to see that 2# every week because that is what she is trained to see?
I would love to see that too eh! But I think I need to change some other things and this I see is not something I need to change. Thank you!

Candice- You have done super so far. In all reality, not many people consistently lose the 2 lbs. a week once they have been at it a while. Your body may be taking time to adjust to the new you. Shake things up like you are talking about doing. How about trying the powdered lites once a day instead of the bars. Have you figured out how many calories you consume in a day. Make sure you are not going below 1200 calories too often and also have days where you consume more calories to keep your body guessing. Why don't you do a no scale challenge with yourself. Put your home scale away for a month, weigh in backwards at the COD or tell them you don't want to know your weight. Go completely by your body and how your clothes are fitting.
I haven't lost anything really for the last 2 months, but I am continuing to lose inches and that is more important than the number on the scale.

Stay strong and don't let the numbers rule your life.

Candice - don't know if this will help any, but my COD challenged me today to lose a simple 0.5 lbs by next WI on Monday. Simple yet effective. Sounded easy enough for me to "promise" I'll do it. So now, I look forward to the next meal to see what I can do that would be healthy, OP and helpful towards my 0.5 lbs loss. Maybe you can do a little self challenge, and try to lose 0.5 or even a whole pound by your next weight in. Little games break the monotomy (sp?) you know? Never know, it may help.

ps. I don't have the time to eat breakfast at home. Two cats waiting on canned food, DS's breakfast etc. Mostly I grab a Yoplait or a Jet Start (my fav) on my way out, and eat at my desk, while I check work emails after the computer boots up.

Chins up! I quit losing 2 lbs per week, long time ago. But every 0.4 or 0.6 adds up! You can do it

Candice
Hey there! A friend of mine just hit one year with LAWL and lost 93 lbs and 46 inches off her body. She hit a real plateau and was stuck with minute losses and was going crazy.
COD told her to have both her starches at breakfast and lunch, none for supper. She was also doing the LA Lite bars and they told her to make sure she was noly having one bar and then another Lite(soup, drink etc) for the second to remove one bar a day. She made both of these changes and after two weeks really got back on the losing train.
Hopefully this might help!

Oh question about the shakes.. How do you make those? Do you have to put them in the blender or do you just mix with water and use a shaker cup and shake?

The directions on the box just say mix with water but it's pretty ick in my opinion. I prefer them in a blender with ice--plus, it really helps if you mix it with a fruit. My favorite is vanilla shake with a little SF chocolate syrup and a 1/2 banana--YUMMO

You are welcome Candice.. it really helped her out.

I use a blender as I find they never mix up enough by hand. I will use 1/2 cup of milk as well as the water sometimes to the chocolate Lites to make it bigger and you can add 1/2 banana or some raspeberries or coffee to make it like a mocha etc.
