Tip #5 - Redo Your Kitchen Cabinets
Put cookies, chips and other snack foods on the top shelf and dried fruits, nuts, whole-grain crackers and other healthy fare on the lowest. The reason: Research has found that foods within easy reach are the ones most likely to be eaten.
I would add to this one just don't buy the cookies, chips and other snack foods in the first place. But this is a good idea - out of sight, out of mind.
I also read a suggestion to put a giant CLOSED FOR THE DAY sign on your refrigerator and cabinets once you have finished your dinner to keep yourself from late night snacking.
