Default Qotd 5-18

So....

Are you a cheapskate or a namebrand type of person when it comes to shopping? What about food? Other things?

I am a frugal Mcdugal over here and will only buy something if it's on sale. I don't care that much about namebrands except when it comes to tennis shoes, certain foods like cheese and certain shampoos.

What about you?

It depends. Because of my Celiac disease, I have to be very careful about products. I tend to only use the ones that I know are gluten-free. Like salad dressing -- I can use Kraft, but not Wishbone. I have to spend a lot of time calling manufacturers and companies to ask questions.

Same thing goes with shampoo, soap, etc. I have to make sure it's gluten-free. I do use Suave products because they are and they are cheaper. We can use the Sam's Club brand of laundry detergent. But I have to call and check out any of the products I want to use first.

Not that I am Miss Money Bags, but to a certain extent I am a believer in you get what you pay for. Whenever hubby and I try to save a buck, we realize we should have went with the "better" brand. I mean for bigger item purchases - TV, Washer, Stove..... I think it is 100% true. I used to buy the expensive hair salon shampoo and stuff, but I honestly like Suave better. Toilet tissue, paper towels, mac & cheese, just about everything else - I like the good stuff! Will I buy the cheap stuff? sure once in a while if we are really tight. But day to day, I'd rather cut eating out or whatever than to save a nickel or dime on regular groceries. McDonalds costs us $20 - thats alot of nickels and dimes!

I really do not care what the product is or who made it as long as I like it.I will always try the cheaper items first if I like them then I am stuck. If I don't I keep going til I find something that I do like. I usually spend about 135 dollars a week on groceries for a family of five. I really do try to make my money work for me instead of the other way around. Suave is a great product any vaseline will do, my feet never notice the difference no matter what I use, I just have to remember to use it. I bought a very expensive vacuum and was not very impressed at all... My kids will also buy store brand items they are not name brand kids.
