Unhappy Stress eating

We had to put our 19 yr. old cat down today and I am just in terrible shape.

She was MY cat, hated men....I called her my little black *****.....and she was...totally black and a *****!!!!

Yes, 19 yrs. is a good long life, but she has been my buddy, my confident for so many years. When I felt bad and went to bed she was right at my side.

I am proud to say I stayed with her until the end, didn't she deserve that after 19 yrs.? They put her to sleep and it was such a peaceful thing. So if ny of you are wondering.....it was OK.

Been a rough day and I am off to have a Martini.....maybe 2...

Oh my! I am so sorry. My pets are my life and always have been. I have been there when my parents had our family dog put to sleep and I didn't think I would get over it. Of course I did and I swore I would never have another animal again. I have 2 now and they are 2 big ol dogs that are big babies. You have to look at this way....19 years for a pet is a long time. I have never had a cat. I didn't realize that they can live that long. Enjoy your drinks! I am sorry too!

Oh Phyllis, I'm so sorry. My Princess Di (AKA Spitting *****) was 13 on our mutual birthday. I so know how you feel. I've had to put several cats down & it is a VERY difficult thing to do.

Take care,

Lynn

Phyllis, I am so sorry. I know how much it hurts to lose your pet.

I like this poem -- they were discussing it on the radio on my way to work this morning. If my links get deleted, I'll PM them to you.

John still hasn't gotten over losing our cat in December. Warm hugs from me!

Thanks for the poem.....I read that years ago and had forgotten it. Of course it made me cry but what a nice way to think of her.

Phyllis, I'm sorry about your cat. That is so sad. 19 years is a very long time. My cat was with me for 15, yes, I understand. My thoughts are with you today!

Yesterday I had to put my 8 month old kitten to sleep. He had bone marrow cancer. We found all of this out in the course of a week when he stopped eating, lost weight and began to have eye discharge... it was very hard for both my husband and I because he was our Kit-F ( Kitty= Kit E, ect.). Much of our sadness was that he was so young.

Even though we all know we did the right thing, it's still so hard, because you wish you could do so much more....eating copious amounts of food did nothing to help my kit-F, but for some reason, it seemed worth the effort.

Ohhh -- I'm sorry to hear that. 8 months? That's just a baby! But you did do the right thing -- suffering is not good.

Thank you all for your support w/ my kitten. Everyone at work was great about it, too. I think ( and hope) that I also speak for Phyllis when I thank you all for understanding that losing an animal friend is like losing a family member. It hurts in a special way because animals are always accepting and never judgemental... I look at the vet bill for my kitten...I do not see money that's gone, but efforts I've tried. I had a dream last night about my kitten...in it, he was 'Resurrected" by the vet, and he said that he was ready to leave and he knew I love him....and then he slept again. Cheesey? Yeah, but it let me know that I did do the right thing..

A little late in the game, but you mentioned that you were going to have a martini, maybe 2....better choice than "I'll have a bag of oreos, maybe 2"....
