Default Does anyone know anything about food allergies??

I am having to take Keilyn on the 22nd for some allergy tests and I have really been noticing something lately. Not sure if this is due to something she is eating or not or just a conquensidence but her cheeks have really been turning red. I guess knowing she has to go for these tests I wondering if almost everything that happens could be due to a food allergy but could she possibly be allergic to something she is eating that could cause her cheeks to turn red???? Its not always both cheeks sometimes its just one of them. Its almost like wind burn cheeks or something but she hasn't really been out much lately with the cold. Since she got up this morning her right cheek has turned dark red and her left is barely red. She has eaten some pancakes and 1/2 a banana this morning and some milk. It could just all be my imagination but just wondering if a food allergy could cause red cheeks???

Well, from everything I've read on the Internet, the answer is 100% Yes -- a food allergy can cause red cheeks.

The most common foods to which people are allergic and have the problem are: milk, cheese, eggs, soy, wheat, corn, oats, seafood, tomato, nuts, citrus fruits, strawberry, cantaloupe, chocolate, and spices.

With my Celiac disease, I used to have red skin on my face and now that I don't ingest wheat, oats, barley or rye, it's gone away. I even had to change the makeup color I used to wear.

Make sure they give her both an IgG and an IgE test. There are 4 types of antibodies to test for and they will need to do a separate blood test for each. Don't let them get away with just giving her a skin test as some food allergies will NOT show up on a skin test - mine won't.

Could she possibly be teething??? Some molars perhaps? That would cause red cheeks, runny nose, irritable......... Just a thought.

Doesn't sound if what she ate this morning would cause it, unless she is suddenly HIGHLY allergic. My daughter was allergic to Milk, cheese, soy, and eggs. But if she ate the items cooked in other foods (ie pancakes, brownies, waffles...) she was okay. She has since grown out of the allergies, so there is hope.

Hope she is feeling better soon!

My brother and sister went through this- my brother was reacting to something in cucumbers and my sister was having a reaction similar to allergies with tomotoes. My brother still can't eat cukes (now 26) but my sister (now 23) can eat tomatoes again. We discovered it when they could talk and tell us what was wrong...

I hope it's an easy fix!
