A must read for everyone!

  • Please take the time out to go read a post by another fellow 3fc member and her success!!! And remember her quote.................."Rome wasn't built in one day and neither was anything worth having"

After you read her post and her sucess story come back here and lets talk about it!

    Here is the link: http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/showthread.php?t=38806
  • Nicely worded - nothing earth-shattering or new though.
  • A very down to earth look at losing weight.....no tricks, no pills...a healthy approach.

I had read this before, she looks great doesn't she.

  • My point in getitng you to read that was to make you realize that it all won't come off in one day or one week. It take a lifetime change and for you to keep working at it and before you know it, all your hard work will pay off. It just takes hard work and CONSISTANCE!!
  • I just wanted to comment on the part that refers to the benefits of reaching goal.

A few years back (maybe 5 yrs now), I lost a whole bunch of weight. I can't emphasize enough how it touched EVERY part of my life. I felt good about myself, thus I was sunny and happy, didn't let things get to me. I knew I looked good in my clothes, so I was more confident in work. I felt comfortable in my own skin and it was easier to be more sexual with my husband, which led to more openness in our marriage. The benefits of my weight loss just go on and on.

Unfortunately, the weight slowly crept back on. Life happened and I lost focus. I want to get back to that thin woman who is inside of me. She is so happy, confident, easy going....... I like her a whole lot more than this woman who is carrying the extra pounds. We carry a lot more baggage than just the pounds when we are overweight. Just like the original poster says, the benefits of weight loss are very comparable to giving birth to a child. It is a lot of work and pain, but the end result is SO worth it!!!!!!!

  • That is why is will ALWAYS be work! Even when you lose the weight you must always focus on it because life happens. It will creep back up if you are not careful! This is lifetime work!
  • So, in my opinion, if you want it enough you MUST learn how to eat right for your body. The losing is the learning. The maintaining is using what you have learned to keep it off. There is NO getting away from it!!! Unless you don't care about your health or the fat on your body. Sigh...
  • Yeah. I remember the final comment on a 20/20 special about weight loss. The only thing that's proven to work is to exercise and eat right. Why is that sooo hard to really process?
  • For me, I needed to become an "adult." I learned that I didn't have to like it to eat what was good for me. That often, I couldn't have what I wanted, even if others could. That I had to sacrifice immediate satisfaction for the long-term good. That every choice is connected to a consequence & that I let the desired consequences govern the choices, rather than the other way around.
  • Yeah. Adulthood and baggage... I had to realize first that other people can NOT eat anything they want while I suffered gaining weight. My mother lovingly pointed out that those same other people do not measure their portions by the pan! Once I got over my "pity party", my attitude was much more positive!
  • Reading others success stories has always been a motivator for me. I can't comment on how much it has motivated me to keep with whatever program I am doing at the time, but I just enjoy hearing about others success at weight loss and the way they view food. I know that I will have a success story some day. This site and you all give me that same joyous feeling.
  • The hardest thing about weight loss is maintenance. It's not as hard to lose weight if you stick to your program and do exactly what you are supposed to do as it is to keep it off once you get there.

I figure I've gained and lost the same 100 pounds a whole lot of times over my life. I can lose it, but making it stay lost is a whole different story. It keeps finding me.

That's why I almost like pounds released better than pounds lost. If you lose something, don't you spend a lot of time and effort trying to find it? If you drop something, you pick it up again. If you release something, you are letting it go for good.
