Hi Everyone,

I'm in my last 2 weeks of the new course I am teaching online. It has been taking all my computer time.

I'll be back on a regular basis as soon as it is over.

Take care everyone,

Lynn

Laurie- we just miss you. Your our FL! Lost without you posting. LOL!!! Its like a bunch of kids without thier teacher one morning. No one does a thing just sits and waits - hopefully the school won't notice, and then all of sudden there walks in the teacher - Then you start working and studing and you realize it was boring without her! We just miss you - you've always kept us inline!

Lynn- Glad you'll be back soon. I was wondering!

Everyone is so busy! And I will soon be that way too.

Hi Everyone:

Sorry I have been MIA. I've been busy with our church in preparations for receiving 300 evacuees from Hurricane Katrina. We cleaned a huge dorrmitory style guest house, and made 324 beds. All involved receiving donations from the community for new twin size bedding. toiletrees, towels, etc. All to find out, our guests weren't coming today and may not ever come. Not sure what all the confusion is about - something at the federal and state levels. I'm sure it will get straighten out soon. We're ready for them whenever they come. It was great working on this - so satisfying just to be doing something.

That is awful that you went through all that work Karen and now now they maynot be coming. Looks like since you have the place to house them, the state would bring them anyways.

Laurie:

It is so disappointing. But they keep saying we are ready to go and receive evacuues at a moments notice. So you never know, it may still happen. The evacuees may not want to come - afterall it is so far from home - and they aren't used to the cold weather up north - who know! Anyway, all the donations will find their way to those hurricane victims eventually even if we have to pack up all the bedding from each bed and send it down to them. Nothing will go to waste - that is for sure. But it was such an amazing thing. It started with the Director of the Pittsburgh Project sending out 20 emails on Friday Sept. 2 to friends at various churches he knew and this whole operation went into full gear and by Wed. we were ready to receive 300 guest - no small feat. It's just amazing the hearts people from all communities have when it's really needed. There is a lot of good coming out of this tragedy too.

Karen, how sad that you did all that and they may not be coming... however, hopefully, now that you are ready, some may come at some point in the future...
It is awe inspiring when people pull together like that. The city of Columbus Ohio, had a fundraiser all day today, with all the usually competing media circuits coming together to get people out to give. By 8am, they already had collected over 3,000 dollars, and they had only been going since 7!

I am heartbroken for the people's situation down south, but so amazed and heart-warmed to hear how many others are giving so much to help out...
