Default Match.com

Well since a few of you ladies told me about Match.com, I decided to try it out. I joined and I actually got my first email match today. What a weirdo dude he was!!! So we will see how it goes. I did check through a few of the locals near me and 1 of them kinda caught my eye but we will see.

Any words of wisdom beside..........if they end each word with *th* or *shall* and thank me at the end of the email to RUN!

For the 3-4 of you who met your DH's online, how long did you talk before you met? OK I am being nosey so I want to know it ALL so I know what I am getting myself into! Where was your first date? Come on details details!! If you dont want to say here, can you please email me and let me know?!?!?

Thanks a bunch!!

Hahahaha

Well, I always tried to screen as much as possible through the emails first. Then I would have a phone conversation and either meet for coffee, dinner, or drinks. I went on quite a few dates. Believe me, there are alot of duds but it is a numbers game (how romantic) LOL.

My husband first emailed me and I didn't respond because I thought we wouldn't be a match. He looked too arrogant on the picture! Then my subscription was about to run out and he thought that he would never hear from me. Then I renewed my subscription. A while later he sent another email saying he modified his profile a bit and to check it out (hahahah). Anyway, I thought he sounded nice so we exchanged a few emails and then talked on the phone. We had a nice conversation so we met for drinks. I never gave out my home address!!!!! I met him and we really hit it off. The rest is history!!

Hey..

I met my husb (married 2 years) on Match.. He had the greatest smile.. still does..
I met a couple of people on there, very weird.. just follow your instincts and check them out.. info is free at the county court house.. yes I checked my guy out, once I started having real feelings for him... I gave him my phone number a few weeks after emailing started, then we met at a restraunt a couple weeks after talking on the phone.

do lunch first.. no pressure in lunch.. no expectations of a long hot night with lunch... just a real get to know you thing.. someplace you never hang out.. just so the guy doesn't go back there looking for you another time.

Good luck,,, there are very sweet men out there, who have no real resource for meeting quality women.

I have never done that Laurie but my oldest son met his wife thru one of the internet match services and they are now happily married with a new baby girl.

They also talked on the phone and then met for lunch, you already know a lot about the person by then...they did exchange photos before they met also. So no surprises....

Wishing you luck, I know several married couples that have met that way.

I dated quite a few from match.com. A good thing to do is meet for coffee. I think half the folks at Starbucks are internet dates. Me and DH met there. We emailed twice and then we talked on the phone, only once for only a few minutes. He didn't want to talk on the phone, he wanted to meet. I liked that about him, I have met some that I talked to so much on the phone, then we met and nothing, nothing to talk about and nothing much in common. I think a cup of coffee or a soda at a small place is good. Then you are only there for a little while. Have an out, have someone call you on your cell phone 30 minutes after the date is suppossed to start, then if you need to you can say "oh my kids need me I have to go". I have to say that most of the men were really quite normal men. I met one that after one cup of coffee ask me if I wanted to go to Mexico for the weekend. I didn't go, too scared I wasn't coming back, at least not alive. It's weird at first, meeting someone like that but it isn't that hard. Also, for about 3 years I was in Parent's Without Parners. I really enjoyed that, I never dated anyone from there but it was great to just have some freinds to go out with. They had acitivities every month, some for just adults, some for adults and kids and some centered around just the kids. Example, sometimes we would go bowling and take the kids, sometimes we had outings to the zoo, sometimes we would have adult dinners or go play pool. It was a nice group. 2 other people in PWP got married about the same time I did, so now sometimes us 3 couples get together and go out to a play or something. Anyway hang in there......there are some good men out there, they are just tough to find.

Laurie,

You could always tell him/them that they must meet your online friends before you agree to meet with him/them. Then have them post here for a couple of days. I'm sure we'd all be happy to vet them for you.

your code was wrong: the slant at the very end after img needs to be before the img

needs to be

Do any of you watch Hooking Up on ABC on Thursdays? Its a reality show about dating online-it is really good-I am hooked!! Although I did not meet my husband online-if I wasn't married-I would be all about it!
