* ~ Plateaus ~ * What to do!!
Here's a bit of advice from Jorge about plateaus that I am not sure if any of you got or not but I thought I would pass it along!
-------------------------------------------------------------------
You've hit a bump in the road and the scale is at a standstill. What should you do if your weight loss has reached a plateau? Don't panic! A short-term plateau can occur for a variety of reasons. Are you taking a new medication, consuming too much salt, or are you menstruating? All of these factors may cause temporary water retention. Some medications may even boost appetite and slow metabolism, triggering weight gain. Talk with your doctor about switching brands if you think this is the case. Also, try to eat fresh foods that are low in sodium content. Whole grain breads, fresh fruits and veggies are wonderful options. Steer clear of canned soups, lunch meats and processed foods to lower your salt intake. If these situations do not apply to you, you may be estimating your portion sizes incorrectly or even emotionally eating without realizing it. To get a grip on what you are actually consuming, keep a food journal for one week. You may be surprised at what you uncover!
