military wife seeks a buddy to loose lots of weight together
Hi all!
I think I finally hit rock bottom. I am tired and sick of being overweight... I don't recognize myself in pictures anymore... However until recently I did not really care, cause the moment I stopped looking at the awful pictures my appitite was back and I swallowed everything that came across my lips... Anyway, here are my stats I am married (13 years by now), 34 years old, student (yeah, I know, a bit old, but better late than never), I have 3 children (ages 11, 8 and 5), hubby is in the Air Force and we are currently stationed in Germany.
So, anybody up for a long distance fat buddy to loose some weight together? We can get to know each other, share everything from receipes to what ever needs to be shared and maybe have some challenges to drop those pounds and above all... have a good time.
Let me know what you think...
until then have a good one

Hi! I'd love to swap email addy's with you. I'm on WW and have lost 27 lbs so far and have 48 to go. I'm married (4yrs), have a 3 yr old son, and i stay at home with him. I really enjoy WW they have a lot of good recipes. Hope to hear from you soon!
Hi and welcome... I see you've been a member for a while.
I too am an military wife/air force. I think we're in very different time zones but email would work. I am 36, 37 very soon (ouch). No children here, but being a military wife also we have plenty in common.
We are originally from the far east coast of Canada, Nova Scotia.. and currently live on the far west coast of Canada, British Columbia.
I know what you mean about the pictures. I look at mine and say "who is that person, that CAN'T be me????" I'm sure many people here can totally relate to that feeling. The trapped in my body feeling, it's awful.
My hubby is currently in Hawaii and still a month to go before he comes back home. Feel free to write and say hi! You can never have too many friends, no matter how far away.
Hi Abbycat36,
I love your cat pictures... we have two Seberian Forrest cats (actually neva masquerade - look a little bit like yours) anyway, love having them around - funny creature.
Anyway, thanks for the welcome... yep, I have been a memeber for a while, however.... I guess I was not too serious about loosing weight ... cause the last two years I have only packed on weight instead of lost some... however, I feel like I am ready to loose some weight... my total so are is 2.8 lb, lol - not much, but believe me a beginning and finally a move in the right direction. I see you are at the beginning of your journey too.... that should be good, we should be both at the same stages of motivation...
What is you plan to lose weight? I have done WW in the past, however, I am using now a bit modified plan of WW flex points... let's see how it works.
Anyway, thanks for the warm welcome... and you live in a nice area... love it. 2000 we went there with my Mom and Dad to celebrate my Dad's 60th b-day (long story behind it - maybe some other day). Anyway, nice to meet you
Llalle

Hi WyattsMama,
cool I see your and my beginning weight and goal weight are about the same.... cool... congrats on the 27 lbs..... you rock... what an inspiration you are. What WW plan are you doing? I have done WW online a while back... good program... Anyway, swapping email addresses would be cool... since I am a novic at this, tell me how it's done so we are not going to get swamped with spam.
BTW are you on any kind of exersice program?
Well, have a nice day
Claudia
My kitties.. ahh they are my best friends ( I have no kids remember hehe). Those pics are of them when they were just babies, they are 4 yrs old now. I met my hubby when they were 6 months old so I missed the tiny kitten stage (they were his cats, now we're married). One thing I love about pets is that they truly have no opinion on your appearance. They just LOVE you.
I wish I could have more kitties but these 2 are are attention seekers so I don't think I could take on more.
The plan I'm on.. well my inspiration comes from 2 plans: Body for life and Burn the fat, feed the muscle. I don't like _not_ eating any regular food groups, and don't want to try to cheat the system with any gimmicks. I have tried Atkins in the past, and it did work for me, but I was really unhappy with the food I had to eat, so that program is not for me.
What I do now is exercise 6 days a week, including weight training every second day. Day 7 is no exercise, and 1 cheat food item. (body for life has a cheat ALL day, but that's just bad for me.. too much)
I am charting all of my caloric intake using fitday.com. This is my first time counting calories and it helps a lot, I think.
I am only a couple of weeks into the diet plan and I might modify some things as I go along, depending on how things progress. Maybe add more exercise, or change my amt of calories. Right now my intake is between 1200-1500/day. That's my range.. some days are higher, some are less.
Abbycat,
my cats are silly guys, they are very jealous at everything... as long as it just them all is ok and they mind their own business pretty much, however, once something new comes along, they are awful. When people come to visit, they have to make a point that everybody knows they are there and that everybody understands that they set the rules.
My daughter got two bunnies the other day... now everytime one opens up the cage at least one of them jumps in the cage and pretents to be a bunny.... very funny guys.
Your programs sound cool. I cannot get in the habbit of using fitday.com... I do it for a few days and then thats it... I need to think of something that could motivate me....
What workouts do you do for cardio... we have this wonderful hill here, it is very steep and I walk it for 15 minutes up and then back down after I drop my kids off at school usually.... that is a great way to start my day. Besides that... right now I don't do much.... some biking once in a while, but that's it.
Exercise I do.. well I have some equipment at home, weights and a treadmill and eliptical machine (hubby likes to be in shape too).
I TRY to work out 6 days a week. I was going to the gym since back in 2001 and did really well with that but since we moved here, it's pretty far away so we bought home gym stuff instead.
I alternate workouts, one day I focus on only cardio (shoot for 40 mins) and next day I do 20 min walking and about 30 mins with weights. Next day back to the cardio.
I think at first you should just try to shoot for whatever you feel you can do, as long as it's something. Set a minimum amount of days/week you will do SOMETHING, and just try to stick to that. If it's 15 minutes a day, each weekday to start, then great! Then once you can do that no problem, try adding 5 more minutes maybe, until it goes up.
You have to find something that you will stick with, I think that's the main thing. Maybe you can rent an exercise video from the library, or buy one. I have 2 exercise DVD's that I own, also. Sometimes I do that for 20 mins for my cardio.
I think whatever gets you into the process of doing something, just anything at first to get you into doing it, will be a great start.
Abbycat,
wise words... I used to be 5 days a week in the gym 5 days of cardio and 3 days of weights... I spend my mornings in the gym. We had a great bunch of people working out in the morning... several people had personal trainer licences so they would guide us... it was fun.. However, ever since I moved away from there I cannot find anything to stick to ... I miss the company, I guess.
Well have a nice week
Claudia
