I am a newbie and confused

Hi out there! I am new and very confused. I need to start a diet and everyone out there seems to be very helpful. I don't know how these groups work and maybe I might even be doing this thread wrong. :?: I see a lot of cute things in those threads and don't know how to get them. I guess the most important thing is to start a diet. I am thinking of mostly veggies but don't want to give up protein all together. Any suggestions.

Hi and welcome. A bunch of veggies is great but would make sure that I get plenty of protein, dairy, fat , fruits and whole grains too. Drink lots of water. Start some type of exercise even if it's walking for short distances to start with. Good luck and wishing you the best.

If you are looking for a plan to get in more vegetables and fruit yet still eat meat I'd suggest Mediterranean or Sonoma (Sonoma if you need assistance following Mediterranean since Mediterranean is not a diet "per se" but a way of living.)

If you are just worried about protein and not meat based protein in particular you could still try Mediterranean or Sonoma... or even a vegetarian plan.

Protein comes from a lot of sources.

Welcome!:)

My suggestion would be to read through as many of the diet plan related threads as you have time for and then begin to think about what plan is closest to the way you want to eat for the rest of your life. While people often think of a "diet" as a specific activity (with a start, middle and end) most of those who lose weight and keep it off are doing so by eating (and exercising) with the same (or similar) control that they had while they were losing. Check out the maintainers forum for great advice that will help you now and later.
