New Support Group Starting ... "Sticking With It"
Since there seems to be a bunch of us newbies starting out together, some of thought we could start a support group. Post here to sign up and we'll have our first official post in Support Groups on Monday. The thread title will be Sticking With It - Week 1.
|
I'm Jeanne, 34 years old, mother of a 4 year old girl and a 1 year old boy. I am curently a SAHM, but will be returning to work full-time in September. I live in NY.
I am not following any specific eating plan. I am using FitDay to track my calories in and out. I want to lose about 60 pounds. I am hoping to lose 10 this month. |
Hi sounds good can I join? My name is Mary. I am 23 years old. I have a two year old daughter named layla, she is my pride and joy and I am also a stay at home mom.
I just joined weight watchers tonight, and am excited to be an official member, I tried doing it at home and it hasn't worked well for me in fact I have gained back 5 out of the 25 I've lost, so this is my fresh start. |

I'd like to join also
Hi all. I'm new here also. I've been checking out the message boards for a couple of weeks, trying to figure out what group I wanted to join. So here I am!:D I am 36 years old. Married for 13 years and have 4 kids. I just moved to Texas 2 months ago from San Diego. I started my diet a year ago and lost 30 lbs. ,but during the move I gained 10lbs. back. So , now I am stuck. Having a hard time getting back in gear. I was doing Winsor Pilates faithfully before I left and watching what I ate , but can't seem to get back into it. I found this site and absolutely love it. Hope to get the kick in the pants that I need. :)

Sounds great, count me in too!!

Friday.... The Weekend.. hardest part for me
HI Everyone,
I hope to get to know you all! Arenace - I am from San Bruno not too far! Any other NorCal people? Well it is now officially the weekend... The hardest part for me. I have been doing Jenny Craig for the past four + months and it seems that weekends are my worste time. I just hate having all the time on my hands to do things. Mostly me and my husband and son go out and do things which of course leads to not being able to follow through on the JC food. But since i am now on half JC and half own food, I guess I can consider it a test for me!!!! Wish me luck and I hope you all have a good weekend!!! Question for all: Do any of you have advice for toning the body. I have lost 60+ pounds and I feel I need to tone my body now. I am 38 and I do a lot of cardio but no toning or strength exercises. Any good advice? |
Mari, Howdy neighbor, and Congrats on the weight loss!!
|
I'm in! I started 2 weeks ago today....again, but my biggest challenge has been actually sticking with it in the past. I already feel like I'm being held a little accountable cause I come on here and constantly read successes and it makes me realize that I can do it too if I just "stick with it." That's not an easy task on your own because sometimes you just wanna let it all go....or at least I do. That's when I hop on here and my outlook changes.
A little about me. I'm 22 and have been married to the love of my life for almost 2 years (June 12th is 2 years). I work in retail so my schedule is always odd making it hard to eat right all the time (thankfully I've learned to make time to take healthy food to work with me). I'm also transitioning from a NASCAR fan to a fan and a writer, so that keeps me busy too. Guess that's it, and I'll see yall in the thread Monday morning :D |
Just in time. I started my diet today.
I was always told a woman who will tell her age will tell you anything. Well, I'm 49. What else you want to know? Lets see, looks like I'm the oldest of everyone so far, but I am up for the challenge. I am 200 lbs and want to get down to 130. I live in Florida which I love but would like to go to the beach and wear a bathing suit instead of shorts and a t-shirt. (to embarassed) Potato |
Sorry I didn't start the week 1 thread yesterday. I just posted one in the Support Groups forum.
|
I was gonna ask this morning if everything was alright because I noticed that thread didn't get posted. Thanks Jeanne!

In need of encouragement and committment!
Saw the title of this new group and knew it was the one for me. Five years ago I lost 30 pounds and kept it off for four years. Last year things started to slide and the pounds just keep creeping back on. Need to get and stay committed to eating properly and exercising. I am a 44 year old mother of two teenagers. I live in Canada and since the good weather is just around the corner I have no excuse not to exercise! My downfall for food seems to be between the hours of six and 10 pm at night. The munchies hit like a unstoppable force that have left a worn path in my carpet to the fridge. Would love to be in a group that offers hugs and encouraging words as well as a good swift kick in the "you know where" when the food munchies attack!
Gearing up for Monday! Karen |
Well jump on in Cybersis  because we just started week one this past Monday. The more the better. I'm Potato age 49 and live in Beautiful Beaches Fla. :flow2: I like to check in everyday. That keeps me accountable. :kickbutt: I've noticed some don't. I'm thinking I would like some challenges between all of us to make it more fun and if you are anything like me friendly challenges keeps me focused.
Jeanne is our team captain since she brought us together, :cheer: so if you are reading this jeanne maybe you can come up with a challenge for us. Anyway cybersis, click on the "support group" link under "sticking with it" and you will find us again. I am so excited! I started Monday and have lost 7 pounds!! :encore: My goal is to be 130. I wasn't going to change my "weight guy" but once a week but I'm thinking it might motivate me to see it dropping!! Yahoo!! Anyway I have chosen the "Carborhydrate Addict Diet" I've had the book for years but never did it because I got caught up in all the other ones. Since I never lost the pounds I thought I tried this. Basically, I eat Low Carb Breakfast, Lunch and then whatever I want (including dessert) for dinner. No snacks in between. Since its only been day 3 I can't really rave about my commitment level to it but for me it seems to be pretty easy. The book describes alot of pitt falls that I have to look out for. Since you are able to eat whatever you want for a reward meal the book encourages keeping it a well balance meal and not a binge session. :mcd: Ha Ha. Anyway, glad to have you aboard and good luck.:welcome3: Potato |

We're under the support groups.
The name of the thread is Sticking With It - Week 1 |
oh spiff, count me in! i'm a college student trying to get into the hang of this during my summer break. :)
|
Am I too late to join?
|
I'd like in too.
My name is Amber I'm 38 and I have about 100 pounds to lose. I'm a single mother with a 13 year old boy. I'm doing Weight Watchers and also using the Calorie King software to track what I eat. |
I am new here. Just found by chance surfing on by. Have been doing Slimfast Optimum for the past 3 weeks, lost 8 lbs. Now just going to count my calories. Also started walking today...walked about 36 blocks, so happy I did it. I have no children, no husband/significant other. I am trapped in grad school just now, so I have time this summer to change bad habits rather than slagging all the time. :) Thanks, Mandi

Hi-
I would like to join this group also. I am 43, married w/ kids, work full time in radio (livin' the radio dream, baby!) and the weight has just crept on. I am now 60 lbs overweight. My Doc put me on Phenterm- just started yesterday. I am also walking 3x's a day (half hour each) and doing some weights. So...anyone here from Wisconsin? How can I add that cute little weight loss thingy at the end of my post? |
Hi everyone
Its never to late to join. go to Support Group section and click on "sticking to it week 1" Potato |
just checking to see if i got the weight line right yet
|
sign me up!
I too would like to join you ladies. I have gone a diet once to twice before but most of my life it has never been an issue, until I hit my 40's and now I can't seem to stop gaining. I used myself scale this morning and I was 220 lbs. I was pregnant that last time I was anywhere near that number.
I tried Slimfast just recently and I gained 3 pounds. Before that I had done Atkins and lost 15 pounds. I have been reading another low carb guru, George Stella and his "Stella Style". I like it so far but wondered if anyone else had heard anything about it (good or bad)? Thanks for listening. |
:welcome:
I haven't heard about that one. I told a friend of mine today I am spoiled rotten and I need a diet plan and a exercise plan that taylors around my wants and desires and lifestyle. Is that to much to ask? I've only been on my diet since Monday so the proof is in the pudding :judge: so I'll see what happens on week 2. "Sticking to it" is in the Support Group Section. click on it and you'll find us. Have a healthy weekend Potato |
Is it too late for me to join the group? I am 34 with 2 boys aged 10 and 7. After my second son was born I lost 30 lbs on weight watchers selection plan. Well, I've gained the 30 lbs back and it seems to be an even harder challenge this time. I really need alot of support !
|
New Weigh-In
I weighed in last night and have lost another 4.4 pounds last week. :carrot:
Don't ask me how because I'm still in shock! :D Whatever I did, I want to do again and again until these last 33 pounds drop off. I kinda have a theory and y'all let me know if maybe you've found this to be true. Usually I eat the WW muffins for breakfast and frozen meals for lunch and "regular" food for dinner. Last week I ate more regular food (oatmeal, grilled meats, salads, veggies) than the other. Do you think that might have been the difference? Just a thought. I might be totally so far off of it! :?: Who knows! |
Wow, that was totally Awesome LindaB!!!!! Congratulations!!!! I havn't had that good a weight loss since I first started. I have been exercising and sticking to the plan. I usually eat a low carb bagel with fat free cream cheese and low sugar jelly in the morning, either a frozen meal or leftover from dinner the night before and something low cal, either a 2point soup and salad or low point casserole. I'm trying to stay away from salty items like chips and popcorn. I was thinking I might need to spread out and use my flex points more. Are you using your flex points? How much are you exercising? I'd be interested in talking to you more and anyone else if you have any ideas. I havn't posted on this thread before, but I like the idea of Sticking to it!! I know it has been a problem over the years for me, but I am really motivated to do it this time and want to keep my motivation up.

And I also work part-time at a coffee cafe two or three nights a week (in addition to my full-time job) and that keeps me on my feet moving, stretching, bending, etc. a lot. I'm thinking about getting a threadmill from a friend and walking on it in the mornings before I get ready for work. Since summer is here I can plan on going swimming too. |
Can I join in too please!
I am 52 and need to lose weight for my health. I will be using the Gi Diet and I too am not a lover of the word exercise. I am trying to look at it differently and go for walks and do more housework and gardening ( when it stops raining long enough). I will weigh myself Monday to see how I am doing. Fingers crossed there is a loss. |
Thanks for the thoughts Linda B and good luck to you Wulfcwen !!!!
My daughter is a great motivator for getting me out the door to walk!! She always wants to go to the park or go ride her bike and I always let her take a friend to keep her company so I can have peace!!! |
Count me in too
Im a working mum to a 5 yr old DD and im still trying to shift the old baby weight and now as my WW meeting has finished i could use some help and support |
