Talking 44 yr old, SAH mom of 7 losing 25 lbs

Hi!

I found this place and couldn't stop laughing at the title! I LOVE it!

Background:
I'm 44, my weight/loss/goal is 152/150/125 and I am the SAH mother of 7 kids.
Yes, I birthed them all, LOL! Oldest is 19, youngest is 4 (OMG! The 4yr old!)
I was heavy in my highschool years and my SHORT and skinny older sis loved to call me fatty, piggo, etc etc.
I lost the weight after high school but she's STILL short! LOL!

When I was preggo with #1 I gained ALOT of weight and dh had quite the prob with it. I cried alot with his comments (he has since then apologized for his behavior!)

I smoked up until 2 weeks ago, (HOORAYY FOR ME! 33 yr NASTY habit, GONE)
I quit mainly because, bottom line, I could not breath and because the prednisone the Dr. gave me for asthma was making me miserable.
I started some virus in Nov and I had to go on prednisone 3 times.
The pred made me gain 15 lb's very very rapidly and now I NEED to get it off
and while I'm at it get off the 10 lb I have held on to for so many years.
And could use friendship and encouragement while I do it!

Here is my food journal link at FitDay.com

Hi My first goal is to stop drinking Mountain Dew, which I can't lie, I haven't been doing very well with that. I just recently went to nutrition classes with my mother who is getting ready to have WLS and they said we need to be drinking 64oz of water at least a day. I'm a newbie at all this too so maybe we can work together to reach our goals. I have 4 of my own children, 8,6,4 and 20 months and getting ready to have 3 step kids, 9,8 and 7. When I was a child, I loved to roller Skate and Friday I realized I could still do it so hopefully that will be my new exercise that I desperately need. I am hoping to go at least 2 times a week. I know we can do this together. Take care and good luck!

Isn't it funny that the first question you get is "Are they all yours??"!!! I have 7 children, as well, so I get it all the time. My children are ages 20 down to 3, so I think it's neat to finally find someone who can relate on that level. I have about 40-50 pounds to lose, but have already lost 35 from my highest weight.

I am 39, and am just watching my portions and exercising on my rebounder when I can't make it to the gym. Everytime I get some momentum going, I get sick and can't eat right or exercise, so this is day one...AGAIN for me this year. I have had a rough beginning to 2006, but will not give up!!

As for the water, we are actually supposed to drink the number of ounces equal to half our body weight, or .5 oz per pound of weight. So for some of us, it's a little more than 64oz. I have been really enjoying the Dasani flavored waters, or the Fruit 2 O. I am not much of a water drinker otherwise, so even tho it's not pure water and has a little splenda, it's still better than soft drinks, even diet ones. Maybe give that a try and see if you like it.

I tried rollerskating not too long ago and wow!!! I busted my butt good and have no desire to do that again soon. I have further to fall and the fall was much harder than I recall! LOL!! Maybe I will be more graceful when closer to the size I use to be. I am really enjoying rebounding on my mini trampoline. I haven't done it enough yet to see the amazing benefits I read about, but I will keep everyone posted as to how it works. If you aren't familiar with it, try doing a search and reading about what the g force from rebounding can do for your health...it's very motivating!!

Anyway, nice to meet you ladies!!! Hopefully we can be great friends supporting each other as we get fit!!

Blessings,
Cindi

Hi, girls! Aschenbrodel, you responded to my post and I then found you here too! Maybe we could all help each other. I see that you homeschool - well I am a 5th grade inclusion teacher, so maybe we have something more in common than motherhood and weight issues!

Wow! Lots of responses!
cindiRella, your name is funny given that you also have 7 kids, my name, Aschenbrodel, is German for Cinderella, lol!

Lots of kids here! Great, or Brilliant!!

As for flavored water, I am weird, I like water to taste like water. It annoys me to have flavored drinks unless it is coffee or alcohol!
I do like my wine, and ceptin for special occasions (seems to happen often, lol) and Sunday, my pigout day, I have cut out any because of the calories, I had NO idea there was so many in wine!

I went to Vegas for a spur of the moment totally out of character first time visit with 2 girlfriends of mine and we had a BLAST but oooh, boy! Wine calories add up!! Not to mention the buffets!!

PS, BTW I am Karen

Karen,

Inclusion means that 1/3 of my class are children with learning disabilities and 2/3 are general education. It all started because of the "least restricted environment" rights offered through NYS educational laws. I work with a special education teacher who modifies all of the work we do for those children. My partner and I have worked together for a few years now, we're the best of friends and we basically teach as a team.

Ladies,

So I will be checking out everyone's fitday and plan to try keeping up with that myself. Do you ladies input your food after you've eaten, or is this your eating plan that you come up with for the day?

Keep up the great work! Cyndy

I usually input sometime after I eat it. Sometimes if I know what snack I am going to have at a set time, like popcorn with an eve movie, I'll go ahead and add it early.

I wanna warn any lookylou's of my fit food, watch out today! It's Mardi gras and I am having steak and possibly BEER!! later!!

LOL, I figure Lent will be here tomorrow and that is time enough to fast!

But for tonight? YUM!!

It's hard to eat veggies when you hate most of them....I don't like any veggies except corn, potatoes, green beans and peas. any suggestions on killing the taste and i might hit the garden lol

Oh my!!
I'd rather eat veggies than ice cream any day!
I'm serious! As you can tell from my fitDay food diary, I LOVE them.
I swear, besides the fact that what I can't have, I want, this "diet"
is like nirvana on a plate!

I did love my huge steak tonight tho!!
I crave protein and veggies something fierce!
Makes for expensive snacking when I'm allowed to!

Default veggies

My problem isn't sweets, it's meats, fats, breads, potatoes and Mountain Dew. Never have been much for sweets.
