Hi everyone, I'm June.

I'm 21 years old and I've been overweight most of my young adult life. I'm only 5 feet tall and small-boned, so my ideal weight falls somewhere between 99-110lbs. For a long time, my weight seemed settled at about 125lbs. Since my weight had been consistent for so long, it seemed silly to think that it would go up- it seemed like it could only go down or stay where it was, even here at college. That idea was shattered one day not too long ago when I realized that my jeans had become far too tight for comfort. I stepped on the scale, and to my horror, it read 136. And...well, lets just say I suddenly got horrible visions of my possible future.
I bought new jeans with extreme reluctance, and vowed that I wouldn't have to wear them for long.
I didn't go on a diet per say, rather I simply stopped my bad habit of either eating out or putting together quick, useless meals like PB&J sandwiches. I started cooking instead, using well-balanced recipies out of easy cookbooks that didn't cost me too much money in terms of ingredients. To my surprise and delight, I actually liked cooking, and I found I was happier to eat my own meals than any other "quick" food. Gradually, even things like pizza began looking not-so-appetizing.
About a week ago, I noticed that my jeans were too loose, and with cautious hope I tried on my old pair again. They fit. The scale told me I was back down to 125!
But this time, I'm not stopping there. I'm going to continue cooking my own meals, and start exercising more in order to get down to my ideal weight of 105lbs. I'm on "hold" right now, due to a liquid diet I need to be on in order to correct a very nasty digestive problem I came down with, but soon I'll be ready to eat solid food again, and I look forward to losing the last 20lbs!
