Pick me !!! Looking for a buddy !!
Hello everyone,
I am looking for a weight loss buddy. I live in Texas, am 43 years old and a full-time working mother of five children. Currently, I weight about 190 pounds and need to lose about 55 pounds. I don't eat very much (or least I don't think I do). Because of my problems with my quadriceps I haven't exercised like I used to or even like I need to. I am looking for someone to help me out when I get ready to reach for the chocolate candy I put on my desk for my co-workers (mmmmm I love chocolate !!) and to just be there for support. So, as Mr. Rogers would say...." won't you be, won't you be....please won't you be my "weight loss buddy" :carrot: |
I'm not sure i'm of much help coz i'm linving in the UK but I will gladly drop in on you for updates and such. Are you new to the boards?

Yes, I am new to the boards. I read the website daily. I am hoping that it will encourage me a little more than I have been as far as losing weight. How are you doing and what are your goals.

Don't ya just love these boards?? I think they're great!! I too am a mom, I have 4 boys, and am 44. Back in January I came here and from the support I received I was able to lose 62 lbs. (yeah!) Okay, now enter the present. Bad news...I went fell off of the "eat healthy" wagon and gained back 20 lbs!! (yuck) Good news...I have jumped back on and am in the right mind set to start up again. Bad news...terrible timing...holidays are coming up...food, desserts, candy EVERYWHERE!! I'd love to have a weight loss bud!! I NEED to have a weight loss bud!! hey I am new to this site, I am 70 lbs overweight, I have 1 17 year old daughter moved away in Sept to College, just me, hubby (thin) and 3 dogs. We have started eating healthy and by the "Jumpins" I plan to stay on it. I have warned my hubby no more junk food, he use to say he bought it for our daughter, but we ate more than her. So I am looking for a buddy, oh I am also 44, I thought that was cool

WOW!! A 62lb loss. what a accomplishment. You should be proud of yourself. Gaining back 20 lbs is not bad, does this mean that you only need to lose 20 lbs. ? Also, you are a mom of 4 boys, I am a mom of 5 children, 4 boys and 1 girl. The boys are 13, 11 1/2, 10, 6 and 2 1/2. How old are your children? Together we can do it............. |
I would love to have a buddy, I am 48 and my hubby is always bringing in junk food. I hate that its everywhere and when I get hungry I grab it because its quick and easy.
He even hides it in his truck..........so he says hey I think I need to lose weight and I answer with *then clean out your truck and the cabinets* |

Oh, momof5, I only wish I had reached my goal!! I was only about half way to it...now instead of only about 60 more to go...I've probably got more like 70 or 80 to go!!I don't know though...when I get there I'll know it!! It's just sooooo hard starting up again when I already had such a good start. How depressing!! I'm a major yoyo dieter...always have been...losing the weight is easy...it's keeping it off that is sooooo hard!! I've already lost 7 pounds....so I'm on my way!! LOL!! I have 4 boys, like I said...(never got that girl!!) they are 16, 14, 8 and 7. I also have 2 dogs and too many cats!! It's like a circus around here and everyone keeps me jumping...but I always manage to find my way to the fridge...or the nearest drive-thru. Grannybee43 and everyone else: With so many things that are quick and easy now, it makes it more of a job to lose weight. Multi tasking to save time also has made things difficult. Since I started reading this web site, I have tried to change some of the things I do. Weekends, if I'm not at work, I try and do meals up for the week and freeze them in individual containers. (Hopefully getting rid of the drive thru urge). I park farther away from the office and take the stairs. I've only been doing these things for a little over a week, so I will have to wait and see how it has helped.

wow I am so interested also. I am a mom of 2 boys ages 8and 6. I am 42 years old and weigh 190. Yuck I but on 25 pds last year alone because my husbands job took him to anothe r state. So the house was on the market and the stress set in agh. I was mom and took care of EVERYTHING so I did not work out and I ate anything and everything. So here I am ready to start something that I hope will work. I hope you all do not mind if I join in too.I relly could use as much support as poss. I do have a thyroid issue. My meds seem to be good. My weight loss may not be as fast as most but even a little would be great. I did weigh in today I lost 5 pds. But I also ate some cookies. We will see what happens. Yesturday I did awesome. I am currently trying ww core. I was on sb but I need my fruit and carbs. Anyway good luck ladies and I sure hope we are all successful.

I am in th same boat, almost 40, 2 boys 16 and 11 years old, and am at my heaviest weight ever . . . 194 lbs. I want to get to at least 140, 130 would be beautiful. Anyway, I'm working really hard on portion control right now and I feel I've lost a little weight around the bra-overhang area in my back and waist in the last two weeks since I've began a diligent effort. I'm a little afraid to jump on that scale just yet. I need to control binge snacking and I need to exercise more. I love this website for all the support you get. I just got back from working out. 30 min. on the step machine. Hips started to hurt so stopped. I need to work up to longer but also need to watch out for tendonitis.Did not to to well last night. Gosh did I get hungry for carbs. I need to get the sweets out of the house. I also had some wine with the hubby. Today I will try to eat more protien to curb the hunger. Anyway ladies good luck today . Get your water in.

You are soooo right. My five children keep me going and if working full-time isn't enough, I am also attending college (trying to get my bachelor's degree in psychology) through distance education. I am taking 12 hours so I am considered a full-time student. So with all that I still wonder why I am always fighting the battle of the bulge :lol3: I guess if I didn't sneak and eat chocolate it would help, along with eating regular meals. My sister thinks that I am not consuming enough food. I wonder if this means I could have a little more..... :cookie: :jeno: :burger: and especially--- :mcd: Yeah...right. Have a nice day everyone. Hi everyone. I hope you all are doing well. I am getting in the water but cannot seem to stop craving sweets. Anyone have any ideas. I am going away this weekend and I know one of those days will be tough. Lots of yummy desserts. Maybe I will have to leave before that time. Anyway, I had a nice breakfast today and that seem to feel me up good. I got it off this site. It was Dannon no fat low carb yogurt, oatmeal and cut up apples. I nuked it for a little, mixed and ate it. Simple and quick. Someone said to use plain with splenda.This yogurt has it all in one. Peaches would be yummy too. Good luck ladies. We can do this.

Hello Everyone! momof5 - I can really sympathize with you, I am also finishing my degree, working way over full-time and have young children. I am really finding it difficult to get motivated to walk on the treadmill when I get home after 9:00 after the kids activities.

hey djmommy hows it going, I found my way back again, I just get so carried away with this site, I think I spend too much time on here (here it keeps me from eating, hehe) I sorta went off this weekend a bit too, but I am back, so what is everyone doing for exercise?? I am walking on my treadmill, when I first started I could barely do 2 minutes, it just about killed me, thats when I knew I was really in trouble. I have persisted I am now up to 5 min. x3 a day, so I will keep this up this week then hopefully I can up it. Good luck to all you Americans on Thanksgiving, mmmm I can smell the turkey. Yeah homemade you found your back. I go all over the site too. I just learned of anoter site to go in and log your food and it calculates your cal. Also lets youknow how much of the pyrimid you are eating. I have way to many carbs. Am i allowed to say the site here. It is free. I am not sure of the rules here. Anyway kind of cool. I did not get to work out today. Hubby is not home yet. I did on MOnday. I can go about 30 min on the elpicor and 15 on the row machine,But it does not do me any good. I think I need to do aerobics or something. I may start to swim. I just hate getting in a bathing suit in the winter.Anyway ladies good luck

hello everyone. Well I will be honest I blew it big time. Oh well. Today I am back to normal. I already worked out. I even did the tredmill for 20 min. which included a few short runs. II also did the elipicor for 30 min..Can you tell I feel soo guilty about getting off track. I just put on a crockpot of bean soup. I am writing everything down and drinking water. I can do this. I will not be going in to my home town until 3 weeks so I need to focus and drop. Maybe If I do I will be good for the christmas holiday. I hope you all did good.

Enjoy your bean soup djmommy, good going on the excercise. Im in Canada so I didn't have the worries some you guys did, I have been eating well, lacking in exercise though, need to really push myself to get active.

Homemade we use to go to Canada all the time. We went to Windors often to the Italin district. Great food. I use to live in Mighigan . I have never been to ontario, but one day would love to take my boys. It is beautiful in canada.

:welcome: :angel: I am new here as well, I am a mother of 3 boys. I desperately need to lose at least 25 lbs. About fell over when I got on the scale for the first time in a year to see that I hit 150 :faint: I thought I was gonna be sick. I only have myself to blame. Eating when I'm not hungry, (I could blame hubby, for all the fast and junk food he brings home). What does he have to worry about, he eats everything at all hours of the day and don't gain one pound :mad: I will gladly be a buddy, I'm here daily and I will try to encourage you as much as you need. As for the chocolate on the desk, (which I did the same thing), I now put out jelly belly beans (low fat) or twizzlers (also low in fat). I use to go to the gym faithfully and loved every bit of it (having a good trainer as well as cute) helped alot, but one day I couldn't make it then that turned into 2 days of not going, which resulted in a year later still not there. Home equipment didn't help much, it's always after I do this or that and then I go to bed without even touching it. I guess I need encouragement too. welcome. Yes you will get the support here,What are you doing to loose the weight? I am currently doing ww. I switch way to much. I am really going to try this one faithfully. I am also in tears with my weight gain I really need to loose about 40 but I am shooting for 30. Then I will work from that point. You will be successful if this is what you want. Hang in there.
