Thumbs up MOMS Weigh In week of 10/24

Happy Monday our first weigh in

I hope everybody had a great weekend. This weekend was really tough for me. The week was going great and I felt really good about weighing in, then yesterday happened. Yesterday was our turn to host the weekly Sunday afternoon football get together. We had everything from wings, nachos, ribs!!!! it was so tuff to stay on track. I did eat some, but in moderation; I also asked my husband to buy the baked lays for me to dip in fat free salsa so I did not feel deprived watching all the others pig out Oh ya, and do I need to mention the giant pot of halloween candy sitting in the middle of the table. I will admit I had a weakness for Aero bars and probably ate a few too many

I weighed in this morning and I lost............................4lbs!!!!!!! I am sooo happy and am now only 3lbs away from reaching my first short term goal of 189lbs. To get out of the 90's for me would be a huge accomplishment because I have been stuck there now for months!!!

I cannot wait to hear how everybody did this week. Amanda, I tried your yogurt and cheerios trick this morning and thumbs up. Normally I put granola in it, but the cheerios were a nice change.

I was wondering if anybody had any ideas for a challange. Maybe a get fit challenge of excercising for a certain number of hours per month, week or minutes per day. Or even a challenge to drink the recommended amount of water a day 8-10 glasses. I know I am horrible at that, and try really hard to get the right amount. I hate water and drink a lot of crystal light or water with lemon in it just to give it that extra flavor.

Hi ladies! I have been doing so thinking about ideas for the group but I wanted to ask a few questions before I post them. Frist do we want daily motivation or weekly? Are we willing to committ ourselves to reach our goals? Do we want to "report" to ourselves or one person? I dont mind setting up a "program" if thats what everyone wants or i can just shot a couple of ideas and we can go on our own. Ya'll just let me know.

Thumbs up

Way to Go Andrea!!!!!!!

Alright!! I am glad to be here for the weigh in! I weigh in Monday mornings too (except when I cheat and weigh in during the week to see any progress.. )

This morning I was surprised to see a 3 lb loss to put me at 202. I originally wanted to just get to 200 for my short goal... but then I thought how nice it would be to get to 199 and break the 2xx barrier! So I'm 3 lb away and hope to rid myself of that before the next weigh in!

I have been wanting to start a challenge for myself to exercise 90 minutes each day, probably 5x a week. Does that sound like too much to take on? I have already figured out where to slide it in to my schedule - if I can just skip my morning nap with my son, I can get it all or at least most of it knocked out then. I don't really need the nap anyway, it just takes away time I could be doing other things while he sleeps.

The water challenge sounds good too - I have been working up to that and get about halfway there. I'm interested to see what everyone else is wanting to do!

Hi!

Can I sneak into your MOMS groups?

I am a stay at home mom of two kids ages 2 and 4 and sadly still have a c-section pooch which I can't seem to get rid of...Yuck!

After my first pregnancy, I lost the weight pretty quickly but my second child had serious health problems for the first two years of his life, was in the hospital alot and rarely slept . It was really consuming and I just couldn't find the time to take care of myself the way I normally would.

So, thank goodness, now he is healthy and I need to get this weight off!

It is ridiculous to walk around with a two year old claiming to be carrying pregnancy weight.

I started about three weeks ago trying to loose about 40lbs and as of today am down 4.5lbs...Yeah!

I love the idea of setting up little goals like water drinking, exercise etc. So, if you don't mind me sticking my nose in your group I would be happy to take part!

Yesterday was day 1 for me. I did really well on my eating plan, but I can tell I'm going through detox. I felt like crud last night! I had a dull headache and my tummy felt odd, but I didn't give in to food! Instead I took 2 tums and crawled into bed.

Thanks NavyWifeMom for giving me a heads up to the group!

Everybody is doing just amazing!!!!!!!1

Welcome to the new ladies, I love all the motivation. If any of you are like me, I need to be accountable to somebody each week; if not I feel like I can just get away with eating junk. I finally feel really good about my loss and am not judging myself or saying to myself "it's ok to eat this, I will just start my diet tomorrow". Well apparently tomorrow took 6 months to show up Today has not been great with the water intake (it is a real downfall for me). I had some decaf tea, 1 glass of crystal light, 1 caffeine free diet coke and veggie soup for lunch; well my son had all the veggies and I had more broth than anything I promise myself that I will drink at least 4 more glasses of water before bedtime and of course my nightly tea. I took my son for a very long walk today and made sure that it was an area with hills; to get home I have to go up a super big hill and I was sweating by the time I got home. I try and do that daily, but I need to do some cardio and crunches in the morning. My objective this week is to purchase a new workout dvd to start asap.

NavyWife: I love your commitment to this, it's just fabulous. Way to go with the working out today you must feel really good about yourself. What workout to you do? I need to get out and buy a new on to do while my son is taking his morning nap. Any suggestions of a good full body workout?

Cat: Welcome to our group we are so happy to have you!!! 4.5lbs isamazing, keep up the good work. I may have missed it in the thread, but are you doing any specific weight loss program or doing it strickly on your own? Whatever you are doing is obviously working I relate to you when you made the comment about pregnancy weight. People would always say that to me regarding my daughter...."you had a baby"... and I'm saying "yeah..2 years ago" Keep up the great work

Brianna: Looks like your Monday weigh in was good to you 3lbs in awesome!!! I must say I love your idea at the bottom of your screen...1 cookie for every 5lbs; very cute and fun to do. I might have to follow suit because you can really see the progress right in front of you. Wow, 90 minutes a day 5x a week. I don't know if that is too much, I am just worried with a little one in the house you will be tired. When I was getting in shape for my wedding I had a trainer who said to me "if you are spending more than 1 hour in the gym you are wasting time". She figured I should only be working out for 1 hour and done. Of course I had to be breaking a sweat; I tried to do this 3 - 5 times a week. You know your body more than anybody, so do whatever is comfortable. If you can do it..then amazing and I envy that GO FOR IT GIRL!!!!!!!! I am really bad with the snack thing as well. I like rice cakes, baby carrots w/ fat free dip, fat free jello and fat free chocolate pudding for those crazy chocolate cravings I get. I also allow myself 10 salt free almonds a day; I got that when I was doing the south beach diet it is a snack they allow. If not mistaken there is a thread in one of the forum or a forum relating to this very topic.

Barb: Welcome to you as well. This group is growing and I could not be happier. The first couple of weeks is hard, it's like you said your body is going through detox Sugar and all the yummy stuff is just like smoking, the first 2 weeks are the hardest when quitting. We are all here to support you though and listen to you vent if need be. We have all been there or are currently going through it. I am a firm believer that people who have support will more likely succeed. Similar to WW, when I join up and go to the meetings I am more successful then doing the same program at home. Unfortunately, I do have the ability to go to WW right now so this group is really important to me. It will certainly be a factor to my success.

I have a question: How many of you are addicted to the scale? I feel like I am standing on the scale 2-3 times per day in hopes of seeing a difference It is so silly, and my husband has threatened to take it away and only give it back on Monday mornings...LOL. How many of you go through the same thing?

Hi!

Thanks for all the welcomes! Glad to see everyone is so motivated.

My friend had a good tip for me that I thought I would share. When she felt like nibbling and had to be in the kitchen with the kids she would throw on a crest white strip and whiten her teeth. You can't do that forever but when you're really having trouble controlling your nibbles it works.

I am following my own diet from what I have learned from all of my previous diets attempts.. I am trying to avoid bad carbs (sugar, white bread etc.) and aim for low glycemic, low fat foods. Plus, I am trying to drink more water, excercise more and eat more veggies.

Funny, I am a vegetarian and I have to get myself to eat more veggies.. but I tend to just eat alot of carbs if left to my own devices.

I would like to go to WW or somewhere to weigh in because I think that's helpful but don't want my 4 year old daughter exposed to the world of dieting. So, hoping this group will keep me in check.

As far as exercise, I bought this Get Fit Kids video and do it with my kids everyday. It isn't very strenous but I can add it to my routine during a time my kids otherwise wouldn't let me exercise. Plus, it is good for them and they have fun.

Good luck this week.
