Buddies looking to lose 20 pounds or less by Christmas

Hello everyone, we have moved from Looking to lose big so more people can join us if they like. We are a group who are supporting each other with a weight loss goal from now until christmas. We started 2 weeks ago but there is plenty of time to join on in. I hope to see a lot of you coming by to share your weight loss with us and to help cheer everyone on!

AnnieFannie 10-25-2005 05:27 PM

So which thread are you on? I am looking to lose about 17 more pounds by Christmas. My goal is 20. Have 3 down. I would like to join your group.

Sheri~C 10-25-2005 06:00 PM

:welcome: Anniefannie,

This is the new thread so this is where you post. I am trying to get 20 off by the 20th of December as that is the closest weigh in before the 25th. I have just under 15 pounds to go so I am hoping that everyone will help me stay on track.

I look forward to helping cheer you on too :carrot:

FishWoman 10-25-2005 06:12 PM

Hi everyone! I am looking to lose 10 pounds by Christmas. I figure that 5 pounds a month should be a realistic goal. I initially wanted to lose 15 pounds by January 8th, but I don't think that is going to happen.

Sheri~C 10-25-2005 06:59 PM

:welcome3: Fishwoman

Happy you have join us. We are all going to try hard to reach our goals by the holidays. If you have any particular challenges let us know, maybe someone here has an answer that is right for you.

GonnaLooseitagain 10-25-2005 07:00 PM

Can I join??? I want to loose a touch more than 20, I want to loose 22 pounds by Christmas/New Years so this would be a good place for me I think......SO can I sign up too??

AnnieFannie 10-25-2005 07:08 PM

My goal is to get off 20 by Christmas morning. Funny how my weigh in day is the 25th. But I am really going to be happy if I can get into Onederland by then. I am so anxious to hit 199. That is going to be a great accomplishment for me. I can't remember that last time that I weighed in under 200. I know back in 1992 I was 181. I used to think that I was so fat. Boy what I would give to be at 181 again. I know that I can do it. I just have issues of trying to sabotage myself sometimes. Mostly with exercising. I eat well for the most part but on occasion I do stray and have something that I shouldn't but I don't usually let it bother me because I know it happens and tomorrow is another day. So I am hoping I can get lots of support and motivation to hit my goal.

So I am not any particular diet. Kind just watching calories, watching what I eat. I have cut out soda. I haven't really drank regular soda for a few months now. I might have an occasional dt. soda(once a week) just to have something, but I try to stick with water, tea and my lemonade crystal light.

I look forward to getting to know all you and helping to encourage you all to get to your Christmas goals.

Hi Fishwoman. Glad to see ya aboard. :carrot:

tigger75 10-25-2005 07:23 PM

Back in the saddle again!

:carrot: Hello Everyone:

Lost 35 pounds a little over a year ago on Atkins and want to lose about 40 more. I started the Induction phase three weeks ago and was discouraged because the scale did not budge at all and I was in ketosis. I gave up but have decided to give it a try once again. I am new to participating in a form and hope this will help me stay motivated. Now I doubt if I'll lose all forty by Christmas but if I lose at least 15, I'll consider that the best Christmas present of all! :D

gingerG 10-25-2005 07:54 PM

20 or more by Christmas would be the best gift I could give myself. Ive been on Nutri-System for a while and have lost on that. The last 20 or so seem to be the hardest to lose.

LovesBassets 10-25-2005 08:07 PM

Can I join?!

It'd be so nice to finally have a "group" to belong to -- I tend to wander the boards aimlessly posting... :dizzy:

I've lost 47 lbs so far, and I'd definitely like to lose at least 7 lbs -- and hopefully more -- by December 23, which is when I fly to the UK for Christmas. I'd love to be at goal (or even below!) by then! I lose at a rate of about 1/2 lb to 1 lb a week, and Christmas is what? Eight weeks away? So even 7 lbs might be a challenge for me. I'll give it a try, though! :carrot:

I'm not following an organized plan (like WW, etc.) I watch my carbs and fats, aim for 100 grams of protein a day, and do cardio and weight training 3 times a week.

:)

grraccoon 10-25-2005 08:23 PM

I would also like to join this group. I would seriously like to lose about 7 lbs. by Christmas. I'm 136 as of today at a short 5 ft. So here goes nothin... well hopefully some pounds. Good luck all.
~Gina

clk48817 10-25-2005 11:33 PM

Hey guys! I'm new here (well I've been checking out the website for a bit but I'm newly registered) and I'm hoping to lose 15 by Christmas. I'm a senior in college and have put on those extra pounds in college. I'm a tiny girl so it does add up...and I just want to get back into the healthy habits I used to have. And I have one BIG motivation....for our family christmas gift, we are going to the BAHAMAS....woo hoo... :carrot:

Spears-Of-Joy 10-26-2005 04:12 AM

Hi Sheri and everyone,
I'm still staying motivated, I rekon by Friday I would have lost 15 lbs, and thats in less than 3 weeks. Where would I be without Gillian, I know she sounds like a hard woman, but maybe thats just what I needed to get me to do something about my weight. Tonight I am having loads of salad with a piece of steamed fish, never ate so much fish in my life lol, but then, never have I lost this much weight in my life so quickly either, never in a long time have I felt this great. I actually love carrot juice now. And the treadmill is waiting, so I had better go. Good lucky everyone, and Sheri thanks for the response, and yes I am going **** for leather in a good way. And if I ever find me another man...woooooohooooooo. lol.
hugs
Spears.

Bubblegum 10-26-2005 08:57 AM

Can I join too? Iwant to lose 20 pounds before chirstmas. I am trying hard. I have stopped eating sweets and I dont take sugar. I eat only when I am really hungry. I am drinking lots of water. I also increased my fruits and salads intake. About exercising...I am not going good. I skip it every other day. I am going to do it everyday now, I have exercise bike so yeah its time to use it now. I hope I can reach my goal :)

andreaphilip3 10-26-2005 10:07 AM

:welcome3:

To everyone, all it takes to join is a goal to set to reach by Christmas, your choice in how much it is going to be. Post your worries, concerns, success, triumphs, victories, anything that you want to share that you think might help with the special difficulties of getting through the holidays with all the parties and family events. I am so excited to have you all here with us to support and encourage. We are going to be an Amazing Group!

AnnieFannie : I know what you mean about new numbers. It can be a huge shot in the (butt) to encourage continued success. I look forward to getting to 299 that is my New Years Goal.

GonnaLooseitagain : Of course you can! Set your own goal and make sure you post and keep us up to date on how things are going for you>

tigger75: Glad you are here with us, maybe you can share about about the difficulties your program presents with the holidays?

gingerG: I am sure you can get over the hump and start lowering the numbers again. We will all help get you there!

LovesBassets: What a nice holiday you have planned, I am sure you will have success with all of us here to cheer you on. I have found in the past that I can lose a pound extra here and there if I cut out the bread for 3 or more days, maybe that will work for you?

Grraccoon: Happy to have you with us Gina, 7 pounds is a nice healthy number to work toward. We are going to do so well working together.

clk48817: Lucky Girl, I live in the gold snowy north in Alberta, Canada I would love to join you on your warm holiday. College must make it tough to eat right with all the activities and studying you have to do. I bet we can come up with some quick and healthy meal ideas for you.

Spears-Of-Joy: You are so lucky to have someone that motivates you so well. It sure help to have that support. I need to get some fish into my diet maybe you can share a recipe you really enjoy to get me going on that. 15 pounds in 3 weeks is awesome, I am going to be looking to you for some inspiration for sure! Keep it going.

Bubblegum: You are doing great! I haven’t started working out yet, I am hoping to add a little bit at a time until I have more stamina. I am with you on the only eating when you are hungry. Have you learned about how your body releases a big deep sigh when you have had enough to eat? My leader told me about it and it is really true, if we listen to our bodies it will tell us what it needs.

andreaphilip3: You bet I am a WW member and I am sure a few more of us are, glad to have you here.

shydoll 10-26-2005 11:09 AM

Hello everyone....I wish everyone the very best luck on meeting your goals. I know WE can do this!!! My New Years resolution this year was to get healthy which definately included losing weight, quit smoking and quit biting my fingernails which I've done ever since I was able to. Well, I started out the year good losing weight, then lost track, gained some back then got serious again. Well here I am at 164--been here a few weeks now!! :( ...I quit biting my nails 9 days ago and don't have the want to do it anymore :carrot: ...but quitting smoking hasn't gone so well, I've cut back but not completely quit. I know I could exercise more and maybe even run if I give them up, but I'm still optimistic that 2006 will be my healthiest year ever. No more smoking and I WILL have this weight OFF!!! I have 14 pounds to go to reach my goal and I'm hoping I can do it by Christmas. It's great having a place to share my experience, my trials and triumphs. Again, I wish all of you the greatest success. We all deserve to be healthy and happy. LET'S DO THIS!!!!

gypsykitten 10-26-2005 12:31 PM

Hey Sheri and the rest of the group!
I am a fulltime mom (boys-7&5; girl-4), part time Janitor, part time playschool teacher, and part time Dayhome Provider. I scrapbook, sew and obvioulsy love the net. I need to loose 20lbs to be able to keep up with all I've signed up for. I'd love to be able to tell the kids, "Yeah lets go to the park, lets go for a bike ride!" Instead of saying"Ask Daddy". I want to feel sexy, and actually believe my husband when gives me a compliment. 20 lbs by Christmas would be amazing! I am starting from scratch. I Haven't been eating properly, hardly any water, no exercise, and I love my dbl dbl coffee. I NEED help! Motivation is non existent for me. I feel very lazy. I need some sort of kick start, even it it has to be a kick in the pants kind.

willyburgr2 10-26-2005 03:45 PM

Hey Everybody! I am in too! Let's go! 20 lbs by Christmas. If you guys are anything like me, we'll need to support each other in about a month (Thanksgiving). I am new to the website. So far I love it! There are some great recipes on the low fat recipe site. I also have some good WW cookbooks if anybody is looking for something new and tasty to make. I am looking for a group to also help motivate me to get up and move. I walk 2 miles 5 days a week but it does not seem to be helping. I think that I need to include some weightlifting. Any ideas?

Best of luck to us all to reach our goals. ;)

Sheri~C 10-26-2005 03:55 PM

Welcome Shydoll,

I am going to suggest that you not quit smoking entirely while you are trying to lose the weight. Both smoking and weight loss are very difficult to attempt alone never mind both at once, it may put too much pressure and stress on you right now. :dizzy:

Certainly you should quit smoking :smoking: I have been smoke free for 20 years now and I know how hard it is to quit. And I have been overweight for 36 years and know how easy it can be to let other stresses complicate the weight loss.

We are happy to cheer you on, and support and encourage you, 14 pounds should melt off you with all the love around here! :cheer:

And way to go with the nail biting, what a big accomplishment that is, congrats!

Sheri~C 10-26-2005 04:07 PM

Welcome Willyburger

I am so glad that my Thanksgiving is over and I don't have that ahead as well as Christmas. I do have an amazing sugar free almost no fat recipe for crustless pumpkin pie if anyone wants it I can post it again. I fed it to all the relatives and no one would believe me that there was no sugar in it and almost no fat (just the fat from the 2 egg yolks) you get 1/6 of a nine inch pie for 4 points.

Let us know what recipes you have tried and loved from your books, it is always good to get first hand info!

I know from other attempts at weight loss and my time at Spa Lady that weight training is an important part of your program. And if your walking is not having an effect right now maybe you just need to shake things up with a little change, maybe do some arobic tapes? I love Richard Simmons tapes, no really they are great no matter your level of fitness and anyone can follow them.

I am sure others will have more ideas for you and maybe even a buddy for the exercise.

Inspirational Quote of the day

Here it is, I love looking for these, can't help myself!

"Set your goals high enough to inspire you and low enough to encourage you."Anonymous

I think this is a good one as sometimes we reach a little too high, it doesn't hurt to take small steps as long as you don't stop walking.

Zach'sMom 10-26-2005 04:12 PM

Can I join too! I want to loose 10-15 by Christmas and keep it off!!!!!!!! :carrot:

Hi Sheri and everyone else, too!:)

Thanks for the suggestion! And one (or both) of us must be psychic because my new thing this week is to eat my tuna sandwiches without the bread... LOL.

I went through a strange period late August to late September when the weight was FLYING off! LOL, which for me means at a rate of 1 lb a week or slightly more. I hadn't changed a single thing, but as my trainer always says "your body will let go of the fat when it's ready." So hopefully my body will cooperate and I'll be able to get to goal by Christmas.

Cuz the next step is quitting smoking -- my New Year's resolution for 2006. And I agree with the idea that quitting smoking and losing weight at the same time is not a good idea -- even my trainer told me this, and she REALLY wants me to quit smoking...but doing both things at once may be setting yourself up for disaster.

vanishing 10-26-2005 06:49 PM

Yes yes yes! I would love to join up.
20lbs by christmas sounds perfect, I think it's around 19lbs in all i need to lose now. I'm just being sensible about what i eat, trying not to stress out too much, and trying to eat less/no candy/cakes/danishes. I'm also trying to run more.

I have a habit of joining in on these things and then stopping. Not this time.

Good luck all. I hope we have a great christmas, and a great run up to christmas.

Love vanishing xx

FishWoman 10-26-2005 07:01 PM

Hi everyone! One thing I am trying to do to help loose the weight is to cut alcohol out of my diet. I usually come home and have a glass (or two :o ) of wine to unwind. I have also started weight lifting 2x/weekly in addition to my cardio. I started that at the beginning of October, and dont' think I have seen any results yet, but hopefully soon!

Sheri~C 10-26-2005 09:00 PM

Vanishing: :welcome3: your enthusiasm is going to be a great addition to the thread, you certainly have the right attitude to get the job done!

Sheri~C 10-26-2005 09:02 PM

Well done FishWoman, that can be difficult when you change a routine like that but it can also produce great results and along with your exercise regimen I am sure you will see a difference soon.

I would LOVE to lose 20 by Christmas...was hoping for 25 but someone mentioned earlier on this thread that this would be the best present to yourself! Isn't that the truth! I am shooting for 40-50 pound loss by April Fools Day...this would be a great kick start to try and get that goal!

Looking forward to heading into battle with all of you!

CJ

Sheri~C 10-27-2005 06:29 PM

Welcome crazynstl!!

We are happy to add you to our group. I was wondering what to do for a goal after New Years and April Fools will be it, great idea! We can start a new thread for it in the new year.

RCsMommy 10-27-2005 09:21 PM

Hi All!

Hi everyone. I am in! I have 21 pounds to lose by Christmas. I am excited...I am really concentrating on how I eat. I have been pretty good for the past month about exercising. I just need to control my eating habits. I look forward to getting to know you all!

Good Luck!

Sheri~C 10-27-2005 10:06 PM

Welcome RCsMommy, it is great to have you join our little group. I bet we are going to have a very nice combined weight loss by Christmas. Maybe Santa can make another couple of elves with it all!

 You're funny! Oh man, so I just noticed this thread and thought how awesome! I would LOOOOOOOOOOOOVE to lose 20 lbs by Xmas ... would make me oh so very happy! I am so sick of going to family functions and dreading having people look me up and down, just knowing what they're thinking -- it'd be nice to hear "hey have you lost weight" Yeah? LOL Anyway, hi! I guess I should've started with an intro since I'm newly posting here, I just start babbling away ... anyway, I can't wait to see how much we all lose by Christmas :D

crazynstl 10-27-2005 10:27 PM

This is great...glad you liked April Fool goal time...is a good short term goal length I think/hope.

Tomorrow I tackle the pantry and grocery store...time to get rid of the junk...

Ladies I am also looking for any tips on at home work outs...anyone use a balance ball??? I have one afraid I will burst it! LOL I work retail and don't like to walk in my neighborhood after dark...looking for things I can do at home and all ideas are appreciated!

Lets do this! :grouphug:

http://tickers.TickerFactory.com/ezt...2a0/weight.png

SunnyKells 10-27-2005 10:36 PM

I have a balance ball ... rest assured you WILL NOT bust it silly LOL You crack me up! I think it's awesome but I never really found my "home" with it ... I have found that aerobics works well with me ... I don't get home until dark too and I definitely don't like walking around my neighborhood when it is dark. Um so other than aerobics or actual videos or something ... I have a treadmill but it's a little dusty -- though not for long ... just things like that is all I know! Before I got the treadmill I'd do squats all the way from one end of the hallway to the other and back & forth until my legs turned to jello ... I'm not so good at suggesting ideas though ... I'm sure some of these other gals will have better ideas that will probably help me too! lol

crazynstl 10-27-2005 10:39 PM

All ideas welcome I said...thanks!!!

herownbeat 10-28-2005 12:31 AM

Hello all! It's so interesting that I stumbled upon this thread because I decided on the 25th that I wanted to lose 20.3 lbs by Christmas. This would put me in Onederland. So I look forward to chatting with all of you as we move toward this goal together.
