Default New Loser!

Hello everyone

I have been getting advice from 3fatchicks.com for about a month now! (I just yesterday found the forums, and just today joined!)

In the past 2 months I have lost 12 pounds, not following any plan, just trying to not eat as much all the time! (I.E. Not eating a candy bar on the way to class, Not drinking a soda and eating cookies right before bed!) And now I've decided I need to take an active approach at this weight loss thing!

A Little about me, in case you're interested! (As it truely describes how I got to this point in my weight loss journey!)

My husband and I were high school sweethearts, married for a little over a year now. Up until a little over a month ago we had a pretty normal life, at 25 my husband was a resteraunt manager, and I was a 22 year old college student majoring in computer science. We own our own home and have been living the life we've always dreamed of. But this past summer our lives fell apart.

In May my father was diagnosed with Pnuemonia, and after 2 weeks of not getting better on antibiotics he went back to the doctor who sent him directly to the hospital. After almost 24 hours of tests he found out he, at 47, has Congestive Heart Failure. He spent 3 months in the hospital and came out with a mechanical heart, and his name on the transplant list. Quite the shock for the whole family! (My dad didn't have a clue he'd EVER had a heart attack, let alone one big enough to send him into heart failure.)

The week my dad went into the hospital I decided 2 things. 1: I was going to lose the weight! I was about 125 in high school and now at 22 I weigh 240 pounds *eek*!! and 2: I was changing my major to nursing.

About a week after I returned home from my 3 week stay with my dad in the hospital, my husband came home early from work. He said he'd been fired. *eek* The resteraunt had recently sold, and the new owners didn't care for the way my husband did things (regardless that he was making them money...) so they'd been trying to find ways to get rid of him for a few months. They finally ended up firing him over leaving the walk in freezer open while he ran to help a customer...

So my husband decided to take this opportunity to do something he's wanted to for a long time...get his CDL. So in 2 weeks my husband leaves for CDL School for 3 months in Nebraska (our hometown) while I stay in Colorado for school. After the 3 months is up, he will go to work for Crete Carrier Corporation based in Lincoln Nebraska, and he will drive the 48 states and Canada...

So as you can see, with all these changes in my life, I need all the support I can get

I hope I didn't bore you to death with my story!

Oh girl!! You have had a lot on your plate lately! I understand how you felt when you came home to find out your husband lost his job. We also went through that here recently! My husband went without a job for over 4 months! No one wants to hire someone partially crippled, no matter what the law says! (My husband was in a terrible car accident in 2002 and was bed ridden for 9 plus months.) I am glad however that you chose nursing!! It is always nice to get a nurse with a heart... and it sure seems like you have a big one!!! I am very sorry to hear about your dad! I sure hope he is ok and gets the transplant he needs.

Most of all... I am glad that throughout all of this your still standing to improve your own life! All that you are doing can and will make a difference, not only in your own life but in many others lives as well.

It sure sounds like your having a very hard day!! I hope you can cheer up and smile! With your recent weight loss you do have a lot to smile about! I wish you luck on your continued success with weight loss! And I wish your family great truckin careers and health!! Smile... we are here for you!

HI, so many changes in such a short time! I know how hard that can be. My husband has lost 3 jobs so far. All 3 places closed. He did ok with the first 2 but was really depressed with the last one. He is a Master Mechanic and found a job right away, once he could start looking again. My son is a truck driver and the money is good and a driver can always find a good job. he works for ups. I worked in a factory untill I was fourty and My son was out of school. I went back to school and i'm now an RN. So, I can relate to a lot of the things you're going through. And you sound like a strong person, you will get through them and be the better for it!

So sorry to hear about your father. I hope everything turns out ok with him. My prayers are with him and you.
