I need a bit of encouragement (no willpower!)

  • I'm looking for motivation!!! I live in the UK and have been dieting (or gaining weight) for most of my life. I left a high pressured sales job and moved in with my lovely boyfriend in Warwick and have lost 15 lbs (of the 28 I put on while working 60 hours a week and not exercising) but have a whole load more to lose. In August I lost and gained the same pound twice.

My excuse..... there isn't one, except I'm lucky enough to live with a gourmet cook, love my food and am really trying to get motivated to exercise but the changes are really small, then I get demotivated and back to square one.

I figure I need to do something different so if anyone wants a British buddy to help motivate them and vice versa, I'd be happy to help (and be helped)
  • Welcome Clare!
Read lots and post lots. You'll find lots of good info here and lots of folks to correspond with. Enjoy!
  • We are on the same boat. I have not been doing so well with my diet and exercise. Maybe gained a couple of pounds. It is so hard to get motivated.
  • Maybe by next week we'll both have lost 16lbs!!

I re read my earlier post and ended up on the cross trainer for 40 mins as I sounded so pathetic.

It's all quite simple isn't it..... use more energy than you eat! Why is it so hard then???
  • That, Clare, is exactly why I come here! I read until I'm sure I'm the only person on Earth who isn't doing something .... then I go do something!
    A little push, right?

I sure wish I knew the answer to that question!

Nice to meet you Clareh! Looks like you and I are pretty much the same size, trying to lose about the same amount and it sounds like we have the same "love" of exercise! Good for you for getting on that cross trainer today! I've yet to do any intentional exercise today...hopefully I'll find some time for it this evening!
  • We can do it!
Losing weight would be so much easier if we didn't all love our food, wouldn't it?! I'm the same way; I just LOVE the feeling I get when I come home with a bag full of goodies. But I hate the way it makes me feel afterwards! I know that food is just a quick fix for whatever problems I'm having in the day.

I'm sure you will have success; you are on the right track!

    Ann
  • Update-you've already been motivational for me- got back from work and was umm- ing about going to my spinning class, re read the posts and have just worked out for 45 minutes (plus 20 on the cross trainer this morning!)

Hopefully we'll all be posting back 1lb down next week (at least!!)
