40+ losing 100# or more
:) Hi My name is Denise and I am a 51 year old single woman with 200+ pounds to lose. I am seeking other women and men over 40 with 100 + pounds to lose. Lets support each other. PM me or post to this thread. Thanks!!!
|
Hey 30lbs lost already? Great job! I have to lose about 150 to get to my goal. I'm only going on 24 and I know you're looking for someone more your own age, but if you need someone to talk to, I'm here for you.
|
Hi,
I am not 40 ( only 34), but when I started out I had (at least) 120 pounds to lose. I have lost 68, and have 52 to go. Congratulations on taking this step health and wellness. I am so proud of all us for doing this, especially when we have significant amounts to lose. Way to go with the 30 pounds! Keep up the great work! |
hi, i'm 32.. i forget how much i have to lose, it's on my little bar thing down there. i love those bar things, they're very inspiring to me. i do have one question.. which came first, the diet.. or the yoyo :?: it's late and i'm sleepy.. when i'm sleepy, i get a little silly. :dizzy: perhaps i'll type more tomorrow if you all don't mind if i sit in here sometimes. :)
|
I've just hit forty, in feb this year, I weighed 320lbs, now I weigh 270lbs. I'm british so I'm used to working in stones so I hope I've converted my weight properly! It sounds loads in lbs.
Have you always had a weight problem? I have, though as I've got older its gotten harder to lose weight a AND more keeps creeping on! Having children in my late 30s did'nt help either! I think some exercise helps, lifting your mood and speeding up your weight loss. best wishes, sharon |
what a champ 30 down and still going ,I'm 42 and feeling fat fourthy and fed up with myself so I'm here for the long trip to the person I would like to be ,healthy and fit,so I can play with my grandson ,
yes voodoo1 exercise would help me too. |
Hi Folks,
Thanks for posting. It is so nice to have company on a long journey! fatchck - I love your avatar! It's hot!!! Feel free to sit in her anytime you would like. I too am inspired by the little counter thingies. voodoo1 - Welcome! Since you asked; no I have not always been heavy. I was very heavy as a child. Slender as a preteen, teenager and early twenties. I even worked as a professional model (5'10"+, 129) When I quit modeling I went up to 160 and felt comfortable there. But since my mid twenties I have put on about ten punds a year for twenty five years. Hence, I have 200+ pounds to lose and appreciate the support at 3FC. How about you? butter ball no more - You have one of my favorite log in names. Welcome and thanks for checking in. Exercise is one of my goals. I have worked up from 15 to 45 minutes and now have a goal of being more consistent. May 5-6 days a week. How about you? sveva and venus in mourning - it has been great chating with you. Let's keep it up. Cheers denise aka active adventurer |

Hi Denise. Are you still on track? I've lost a few more pounds since we last talked. I need to get my butt in motion though. I got a little lazy on my birthday and slowed down since then.
|
Hi Venus in Mourning, Congratualtions on losing a few more pounds  I was a little discouraged about not losing the past couple of weeks but can definitely feel my clothes are looser this week. I think I saw that you are in the points challenge. Hopefully that will help us both stay motivated over the coming weeks and beyond. As BBNM and many others have said, weight loss calls for life long change. Let's go! :grouphug: Denise
|

Thank you for the warm welcome....I lost 218 pounds before...I am sure I can lose 120 now
|
Congratulations on starting again whitedove and welcome. :D It is so great to hear from you BBNM.
I have had a pretty intense week as I started back to work after a year off and had my one year checkup after having surgery for uterine cancer :dizzy:  Things went extremely well but I am still just coming back down to earth from the anxiety I was feeling. I am taking the day off from my new job today and just taking care of me :) I was up 3 pounds this week but oddly enough feel more committed than ever. I think the more I do this the more I learn its really not the weight, it is about how I treat myself  I am still working with not getting discouraged with how much weight I have to lose. I saw someone here at 3FC say (sorry I don't remember who and may not get the quote exactly) something to the effect of " I didn't lose 243 pounds, I lost 1 pound 243 times" I like that!!!! :cp: :cp: :cp: I thought we might want to set a little goal for our group here. it could be an exercise one or weight loss or ... What do you thing? DCM |
Hi activeadventurer ;) yes I love:love: that too " I didn't lose 243 pounds, I lost 1 pound 243 times" I like that!!!!
Very happy to hear all has gone well with your check up:dance::high: My min goal is to each week stay on track and drink 8 glasses of water a day I also need to walk three times aweek ( I also orded a Billy Blank's DVD)my next min goal with weight is 90 kg (198lb) by 26/10/05 opp's you say 10/26/05 so come on lets all put down our goals:flow1::flow1::flow1: So we have a way of keeping true to ourself ;) |
Hi BBNM and others,
Goals Hmmmm. My plan is eat between 2000-2500 kcals per day, exercise at least 3-4 times a week for a minimum of 30 minutes and drink 64 oz. of water per day. BBNM, that seems like a really ambitious weight loss goal. I think I figured it was 19 pounds in less than 6 weeks. Maybe you lose fast or maybe its the conversion thing. I would like to lose 25 pounds by the end of the year (a little less than 2 pounds a week) I find I do better if I focus more on behaviors and less on weight. At the same time I feel I need to be more optimistic about my ability to lose weight and not so negative regarding how slow it can go. Any one else for stating their goals? ;) |
Hi activeadventurer I'm shooting for the stars:stars: yep it is about 19 lb , but I can give it my best shot and I will be happy:dance: to get near it if not right on
:cheer:,:cheer:,:cheer: as you may have guessted by now I'm a glass is :halffull: half full kind of girl ( not :halfempty half empty) |
;) So how was is your day going ,Mine :dunno: well it was weight in:goodscale day for me and I have stayed the same :p , I need to do some walking ,but still sick so will have to wait till i can walk around with out passing out:faint: lol:lol3:
|
Whitedove33, Welcome and feel free to PM or keep on posting. I think I must have accidentally dropped my subscirtion and will try to be more timely in the future. Tell us a little bit about yourself and if you have a specific plan you are following for health and weight loss.
Butterballnomore, I am really sorry to hear that you are not feeling well. I think that maintaining is a great thing to do while you are sick and not able to exercise. In the old days you might have sat at home and ate lots of ice cream and still not exercised. Sounds like a BIG improvement to me. Give yourself time to recover and LIGHTEN UP a little. You are doing GREAT. Best wishes, DCM |
:dizzy: Just finished work (I work 12hrs shifts) and it was a night shift so I'm going to bed I'm soooooooooo :tired: hay that realy look's like me :lol3:
I was very good last night NO CHOCOLATES :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: I have been good with my food and had my water and I think going to work is all the walking I can do right now  so how have we all been ;) |
Hi folks,
Congratualtions on no chocolates BBNM. It really sounds like you are doing great and by your little counter, ticker tape thingy or whatever it is you are definitely losing weight. Congrats. Now go get some sleep!!! ;) I am so excited. My best friend has decided to join me in my weight loss efforts. She is one of the few people who supports me in losing weight through healthy choices. Many people in my environment are encouraging me to have WLS. Some days I think maybe, but generally I am uncomfortable with the idea and just don't think it is right for me. We both agreed to do a lazyman's triathalon (112 miles of "biking", 26.2 miles of walking and instead of swimming, 2 1/2 hours of weight lifting) in the next 6 weeks and another one before Christmas. Any one else in??? Our goal is for each of us to lose 17 pounds by New Year's. Haven't seen a lot of our posters around. How are you doing? Bye for now, DCM |
;) I have News for you activeadventurer that sounds like a very not  lazyman's triathalon to me . I will have to work out miles into Kilometres  ( No  I will ask Hubby he will know  )
This is getting like being at school :lol3: , and can I swim and not do weights YUK(I love  to swim). I think I need to go back to sleep :cloud9: I have only had three hour sleeep good night all or is it day :dunno:  |
Just finished work again and ready for bed ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ:tired:
as I said I asked hubby to work out miles into Kilometres , he was oh that easy lol:lol3: 112 miles = 176 Kilometres (sound bad lol :lol3: ) 26 Miles = 40 Kilometres (this is round off ) so it works out Bike= 4 Kilometres a day Walking only=1/2 Kilometres a day ( I normaly walk around 6 Kilometres every second day) (to my daughters house and back ;) got to get my Nanny huggs in from my:bb: Grandson ;) ) I know for lots of people WLS is the way to go, But for me I just could not do it , I feel I got myself fat and I can take the fat off and re-train myself to be healthy in body and mind,so let's stick together on this and we win at being BIG LOSERS  ;) P.s yes I am a control freak |
Lazy Man's Triatholon
I like the idea of winning at being BIG LOSERS. Who said you were a control freak BBNM? Hope you got some good :cloud9: BBNM
Any way, back to the Lazy Man's Triathalon. One of the reasons I like it is because it sounds a lot better if I schedule in my calendar "Triathalon Training" instead of "exercise" Triathalon training sounds somewhat glamorous where exrcise sounds like work! Actually the usual LMT is 112 miles of biking, and 26.2 miles of walking and 2.5 miles of swimming in five weeks. So of course you can swim BBNM  I am starting Monday and striving to finish by halloween (6 weeks). I usually keep track of the miles/kilometers on a piece of paper but may also do a weekly post here or something like that. Hope others will post too for encouragment. Maybe when we finish we can start calling ourseves triatheletes  :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: Ciao, DCM |
;) I have reservations about the bike riding (I will have the BUTT ace of the year as I don’t ride at all) :dizzy: . But I will take a deep breath and try (just thinking about it I'm getting sadel sore :lol3: )
I will start Monday as well (tomorrow for me :lol3: ) ;) |
BBNM,
Sounds like you are feeling better. I am glad for that. You should feel free to substitute more appropriate forms of exercise for ones that don't fit for you. I substitute weightlifting for swimming as it is soon getting to cold to swim outdoors and I am allergic to chlorine. My friend, Nancy, who is also starting Monday, substituted yoga for one of the legs, as she has been told by her doctor that this would be a good form of exercise for her. Figure out what fits for you and post it. Also, you might want to promise yourself a reward for finishing. Nancy and I are going to get a full body massage WHEN we finish. I am glad the three of us are taking this on. Maybe we can call ourselves the Can Do Girls or something positive/silly like that. Anyways, keep us posted on how your doing. |
I'm the glass half full:halffull: girl remember so I will do it ;)
I might change the bike with the walking (less on the bike :lol3: ) it's 12.26am here so I dont think I can come up with a good name right now but I'll put my thinking cap on :chin: later iin the morning :lol3: I was just off to bed and the computer :comp: said I had mail so I just had to have a look :lol3: you know I'm a :gossip: and  :goodluck: to us all on our new treck, good night all |
so how did the day go for all??????
I was bad I have just come home from the drive-in's,just got to have a choc top ice-cream between movies |
BBNM
We all have those days. What is important is that we keep on keeping on. Don't be too hard on yourself. :^: Think of how far you have come and keep on going!!! DCM |
New but would like to join
Hi!
First day to the group and I would like to join the 40+ . I am 48 but only have about 30 to lose but it is an ever lasting 30. I need the motivation that I am hoping to get from you guys. I love to eat! My workouts are okay but I lose interest in a couple of weeks. Okay to join? ;) |
;) We are the more the merryer kind of group :grouphug: , so welcome hulahips . we will have only 30 to lose one day so join in as you can see activeadventurer and I are doing a lazyman's triathalon :lol3: , if you would like to join in on the fun you are more that welcome :goodluck:
|
Welcome hulahips. I love your name!!! We are more than happy to have you. I tend to approach my own weight loss in 25# increments. It helps me stay focuse on the road right in front of me. :dizzy: Tell us a little aobut yourself if you'd like and it would be great to have you join the 3 of us (ButterBallNoMore, myself and Nancy) in the LMT. See a fewposts back. :) DCM
|
Well today was my weigh-in Deep breath :goodscale Yes down 1kg (2.2 lb)
so it's the happy dance for me  :dancer: what day are the rest of the group having as weigh-in day????? I have been ok today still have not ad all my water but I will try ;) |
Thanks for the welcome!
LMT - That is great! I love it! :D Thank you for the welcome! I only do the video tapes, I do Cathe and the Firm so I don't know how you would break that down. I did so well last week and this week my motivation is just gone! I need to get on the scale like you all do and post. Maybe when I see it on paper (computer screen that is) it will hit me more! I am 48, been dancing Polynesian for the past 38 years and just recently hung up my tassels. That is I am only going to dance class for fun and not for shows. I am starting swing dance classes in a couple of week though. I have always wanted to do this and know I am. I have three sons, 23, 12 and 10. We live in San Dimas, calif. and I work at City Hall in Azusa. You all sound like a lot of fun. Now I just have to get used to this website and add all those fun icons.
hulahips (aka Tina) :dizzy: |
I think  it helps if you have a weight-tracker so you know were you are and you know the rest of the group know also makes me feel like I have to do the right thing as much as possable :p
and as you start to lose it gives you the I will go on ;) :woo: and  i  the icons :lol3: so come on and get back on track :coach: so you can have a :goodscale and then we can all do the happy dance like this :dancer:  :cb: for you oh and by the way I am  |
Hi all activeadventurer how do you like my tracker for our Lazy Man's Triatholon
