Default new-age 35, no kids - need buddy in 200+ range

Hi,

Name is PJ - always had weight problem but really ballooned in mid 90's when I took a desk job - how ironic. Anyway back on wagon this year after topping in at 260 (I am 5'10") and need to be around 175.

Seeking someone of similar build to buddy with for stories and encouragement. I have lost 18 lbs since May 1. Using mostly a 40-30-30 diet allowing for some cheating as long as in caloric range and periodically treats.

My main failing is lack of exercise which is my own fault as I work from home and live on a 20 acre farm in oregon - no excuse except addicted to TV and my PC.

Would love to hear from anyone with similar issues.

Thanks

Hi, I started at 260 too, in July last year, and am roughly your height. I have family in Oregon, but haven't been over to visit for many many years unfortunately. I mainly exercise at the moment, and although my food is healthier than it used to be, I don't count calories, carbs, points or anything else like that, I just try to use a bit of common sense, which seems to be working!

I live alone which makes the food thing a lot easier, because I can just buy the healthy stuff and make sure there is no chocolate in the house, or biscuits, ice cream, sausages, bacon, pizza etc. I could go on! Lots of veggies and fresh food seems to be working for me at the moment.

Let me

Thumbs up

Hi PJ. My name is Jenn.
This is my first time to this site. Your post caught my attention.
I'm 33, no children, and also in the 200+ range. I'm currently 217 but started at 235. I understand about needing all the encouragement you can get! Let me know if you're interested and maybe we can motivate each other.

Cool Sounds like a plan

So what type of diet do you follow? And exercise?

Not to get to personal but I see you are in TX - I have family (cousins) in Quilcene - anywhere near there?

So are you married - attached - living the good life on your own?

I am married but we have opted for multiple pets, 4 dogs, 3 cats, 2 horses and 15 chickens + 1 big rooster.

We live on 20 acres and my little old lady aunt lives in a mobile on our property so I can watch out for her.

My husband recently went back to truck driving so I have been getting more exercise taking care of the animals food twice a day - everything here is up hill LOL

I need to walk more and sit less and that is hard because my work and other projects revolve around my computer - even my diet journal.

Tell me about you.

Yes, I am married..have been for 13 years. We do not have children but would love to, unfortunately we haven't had any luck in that department. We do have 2 dogs and 1 cat though.

As far as dieting goes, I try to follow the Weight Watchers points system. I did ww a few years ago with some success. I decided to give it a try myself this time though. I kind of use the points as a guideline. You said you followed a 40-30-30 diet...what is that? Don't think I've heard of it.
As far as exercise goes...that's my biggest problem, especially since I'm not working this summer. I'm like you and would much rather sit in front of the tv or computer, ha ha! I try to work out with my sister-in-law, its depressing though. She is skinny and still wants to lose 10 pounds.

Yes, I live in Texas but apparently not close to your cousins. I have never even heard of Quilcene. I'm in west texas, close to San Angelo.

Have a great afternoon!

I started at 250 now at 243. I have two kids ages 22 and 9 and raising two of my grandchildren ages almost 3 and almost 2. Thought I had a weight problem when I was younger and was told I did alot but geez I look back at those pictures and I was JUST FINE. Well now after all these years I do have a weight problem. I got on the scale and just about had a coronary! So...now is the time to make the changes and make it happen. I have too many kids who rely on me and for me to be in good health. I am doing WW at home and hoping to start meetings in the fall after my son goes back to school. I stumbled on here couple days ago and really glad I did. Lots of great recipes and people. Now when I feel like grabbing something to eat, I go to my computer instead-seems to be doing the trick. Here anytime and being old now lol lots of information and encouragement!

To YP1

Great to hear from you 2 - whereabouts in Oregon? I live in Southern OR but came from Portland.

More the merrier - I think we should start a group of women 5'10" that started in the 250-260 range shooting for the anything below 200 range

Ideas?

You are doing great - what do you eat?

I look back at pic of me when I was 19 - even though I weighed about 185 - I could still wear a bikini - and you could tell where my butt stopped and my leg began LOL

Would kill for that body now.
