Newbie in Search!

  • Hey! I'm 23 and also new to the forums.
I have absolutly NO motivation and really need some help!
Two summers ago I weighed 135 and last summer 150, and now I'm up to 190! I have no idea how this happened except for the fact that I've become too comfortable in my relationship!
I'm looking for some people with good tips and motivation!
I need to get my butt moving.
    Ive never felt so lazy
Anyone want to share any exercise, diet tips or some motivation to get this girl moving it would be much appreciated!
Thanks guys, looking forward to talking to you all soon!

  • Get a Partner!
Hi Kelly and Welcome. I've personally found alot of encouragement on this website, but the truth is, you'll probably find that you'll do best if you can find a friend or family member who wants to get that booty moving with you! If you know that every day your friend is waiting for you to take a walk or jog, or meet you at the gym, it'll be alot more motivating to get out there.
Set a small goal - for example, cut out sweets for the next 10 days, and check it as accomplished once you've done it.
Joining this website is a GREAT first step! YOU CAN DO IT! And you SHOULD do it now, when you're young, because you've already seen that you're heading down a road you don't want to go. It's easier to get back down to 135 from 190 than it will be from 290.
Write out your goals and share them with someone! Be accountable!
YEA KELLY! you've made a GREAT FIRST STEP!

  • Hi Kelly sounds like me!
Except it has been almost a 10 year gain.
    145 in 96
Moved summer before college = 165
    Turned 21 = 185
    Got comfortable in a relationship = 210!!!!!
    I can't believe it.

So I am right there with ya.
The best thing you can do is cut calories and add exercise. Weight Watchers and Slimfast systems were rated the best out there by Consumer's Digest. Once you mae this change though, it is a lifestyle change - it is not a diet! you must do whatever you do to change your weight forever!

    Good luck!
  • Hey thanks guys!!
Im trying!!! The excersizing is the hardest part!
Anyone know any workout machines that are pretty good?
As far as diet goes I've cut out soda completly and am trying to only drink water but allow myself juice or tea once in awhile.
AND am trying my hardest to keep my diet to mostly meats and vegetables. My doctor said with type O blood thats the best route to go so I'm gonna assume he knows what hes talking about!
Yes, when I started gaining weight I really didnt notice it untill this year. All the sudden my clothes didnt fit and I was like what the heck!
Thanks for the words of wisdom you guys and I hope to hear more from you!
  • Machines and Things
Kelly - My advice is to go to a gym with a trainer and get going with a routine. If you're not used to the gym, walking in and seeing all the available machines, etc. can be a little overwhelming! Another option is to buy an exercise book that guides you through a program. My hubby and I are currently using the Body for Life book which gives both diet and exercise advice, including cardio training and weight training. The program is very specific. You don't really have to join a gym if you have some simple equipment at home. The point of weight training with women is to tone up, not necessarily to bulk up (like guys usually want to do).
    Good luck! Laura Y
