Smile Looking For A buddy

Hi All, I am a 33 year old female from Upstate NY. I am starting a diet today and really need support. I am looking for some new friends who understand what i am going through. I'm a person cursed with having all skinny friends!! HAHA.... I am going to try a less strict version of the Bob Green (Oprah diet). Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Looking forward to losing weight with you all!!!

Hi TerriNY,
Best of luck with your Diet...Best thing I can suggest is make small changes you can deal with, drink lots of water, and get your body moving...How much do you have to loose???

As for the Skinny friends, If you want to look thinner, hang around people fatter than you...my best friend lost over 100 lbs so now I'm the fatter one....

Smile Hi Terry-

I'm new as well (to this forum, not to trying to lose weight ) I am 37 yo and live on Long Island, NY so we're almost neighbors. I'm actually starting my diet tomorrow, am doing a combo of BFL and WW. It's been successful for me in the past but I seem to lose it after two or three weeks. If I could just make it over that hurdle, things would be fine.

Any plans for exercise? Do you like, have a favortie type or dread it? I've recently begun working out in the AM and so far that seems to work for me!

Anyway, I would love to be your buddy (if you don't mind an older one !

Hi Jean,
I would love to have you as my buddy! I do plan on starting to exercise. I haven't currently been doing anything. I'm going to start by walking. I also like to bike ride. I do better when i have a partner though. I am the heaviest i have ever been and am just sick of it! My weight runs my life. I have to do something about it. I recently got married and we both want to lose weight and get healthier. I think he's waiting for me to get motivated to do something and then he will follow. I am going to follow some of the Bob Green diet but i want to basically just start eating better and exercising. Up until today I have been just eating whatever and whenever I want! What's BFL? How does that work? I look forward to getting to know you!!!!!!

HI Jemid,

I have recently started BFL for women about 2 weeks ago...I have done BFL in the past and did experience success. I'm 35 years old and have gained almost 15 pounds since my wedding in October 2004. It just seems so much harder to keep the weight off despite constanct exercise and watching what I eat most of the time...hopefully we can provide some support for each other.

Hi Terri and L-Renee,
I am very excited to making friends to go through this journey with!
Terri- BFL is a -program in which you eat six small meals a day combining a protein and a healthy carb (fruits, whole wheat flour products etc.) and you exercise six days a week (still struggling with all six days). Genrally, you alternate a weight training day with a cardio day. It's a very sensible plan created by Bill Phillips (?).

L-renee- how is BFL for women? I haven't gotten the book because I'm basically too cheap and know that the original BFL has worked for me in the past if I can just saty focused. BTW- good for you losing 3lbs- great start!!

Let's check in at least once a day and try to keep each other motivated and honest!

Have a great night!

Hey Jean,

Well as far as the BFL for women the major differences are 1) Cardio is for 30 minutes every other day instead of 20 minutes, 2) The weight training is shorter only 3 reps per body part instead of 6 with BFL, 3) NO FREE DAY of eating!, instead you are supposed to take "mini chills" everyday (still not to clear on that one), but you still get a free day from working out and 4) some of the eating is different, you still are supposed to eat 5 to 6 mini meals a day, but not necessarily pair a protein with a carb everymeal, depending on you particular BMI, 5) another thing, low fat yogurt is considered a protein on BFL for women instead of a carb on the original BFL.....so I basically stick to the eating program for BFL for women and the cardio , but I do the weight training from BFL. I'm kinda torn between the two programs but I'm trying to stick to the womens plan to see what results I can get...I does seem to take into consideration women's particular concerns, such as emotional eating and those hormonal issue we face once a months ....but I look forward to having someone to share this experience and get some support and hopefully I can provide the same to you..hope you have a great day

Talk to you soon!

Hey Aerodawn...Join the club..I'm new here as well and can use all the help and support I can get...I can also use someone to be accountable to. So I've added you to my buddy list...so far how is your day going? I'm 35, married with no kids, 1 dog and could stand to lose 15 pounds, but would be happy with 10...did I mention me and these "10 pounds" have been arch enemies for quite some time...he has even made 5 pounds of new friends. I must stop him before he makes more friends! Hope to hear from you soon.

Hi all- it's great to see so many motivated people-I had a good first day stayed on track even though I didn't plan as well as I should have. I'm having a hard time right now because my ds is sick and both kids are very crabby! AHHHHH!!!!

Terri- I'm glad you had a successful first day- sometimes the hardest day is the first one and it gets easier as you get into a routine!

Leshia- Too many changes in BFL women- I can barely keep the original BFL straight and NO FREE DAY? I don't actually have a whole free day, too hard to recover but I definately eat some things I wouldn't on a "regular" day. Let me know how it's going.

Aerodawn- Welcome- this seems to be a great group so far and we appreciate all the support and motivation out there!! Good luck at the gym- I wish I could go more often but can't seem to with the kids. I'll just keep trying to get up in the am to workout.

Faded Moon- welcome to you too! Please feel free to join in and how do you like living in the city? Where do you live? My dh is a NYC detective in the 17th- is that anywhere near you?

Well all, got to go keep the kids from wrecking the house and each other. Hopefully my ds won't be up again for 2 hours during the night tonight!!

Love,
Jean

Hi everyone,
How is everybody doing today? I had an ok day. I need to start exercising but just haven't had the motivation yet. Today it was very humid here and i am miserable!

Aerodawn- Welcome, I am new here also. I just joined this week. I hope we can all support each other.

Jean- HI, How did you do today? So far i'm doing pretty good at watching what i eat. I need to try to drink more water, which i'm horrible at. I always grab a diet soda when i'm thirsty. I also am trying to eat earlier and i've eaten past 8pm the last 2 nights in a row! Hopefully I can change at least those two things over the next couple days.

Fade Moon- Welcome, i hope we can all get to know each other. So far everyone i've met has been wonderful. Good Luck on your journey.

Well, I hope to hear from you all very soon.

Terri
