Default Hi! Im new!

Hi there! Im Melissa. Im a sahm with 2 girls. I have not always been overweight but once I quit my job and started to stay home with my children, it went up and over! Ive been at home for almost 6 years now.

Im really not sure where to start. Ive looked at so many different diets and don't know which one to choose! It seems so many are about the "carb" craze.....but I don't eat meat (except for ground up hamburger) or eggs. I just dislike them so much that I cannot bare to even choke them down!

Right now, Im looking at the Slimfast diet...although Im not big on the drinks...they just really seem to have so many carbs and fat in them.

Im not an expert on which carbs and fat are good/bad for you so its hard to look at any of it. I love fruits and veggies but even those seem to be bad. I don't get it and have no clue what to do! Is it the calories/fat/carbs? It all confuses me so bad

AHHHH!!

Anyway, I thought maybe Id just try to eat more sensibly, cutting down on all 3 of those and drinking more water? Im an italian and its SOOO hard to not give in and have a big 'ole bowl of ziti, lol! Im really trying....and hoping to get to know some others that are going through what I am and help me through this!

Welcome to the board Melissa.

I used to date a guy that was Italian, and any visit to his family was sure to see me packing on 10 lbs. His mom was such a great cook, and she would never let me get away with a small plate of anything.

Rather than thinkin of this as a diet, start thinkin along the lines that this is going to be a change. Low carb is a great plan for losing weight, but I'm like you, I couldn't eat that much protein in a day. So find a plan that you'll be able to stick to long term. Start with small things like drinking more water and less sodas.

As far as the carb/protein/fat thing, I wouldn't worry too much about it. You might consider seeing a nutricionist if you are wanting a more strict plan of what to eat and not eat, but for me, simply cutting out the fried foods and eatting more veggies has made me feel a ton better.

Welcome again
