Lightbulb I'm New and want the support of a daily check-in.

xxxHi, I'm a widowed 52 year old with a 12 year old girl. I started gaining weight when my husband died four years ago and have slowly put on 55 extra pounds. It feels like I just woke up in this condition. I love food. I love cooking and I overeat when I'm tired, upset, happy, lonely.......I don't overeat in my sleep. I could go into a detailed description about how unhealthy this feels (I don't exercise) or how it feels when I get an unexpected glimpse of myself and don't recognise the reflection as me. I am especially distressed at the realization that I have difficulty bending over to paint my own toenails. I hope posting on this board will help. I'm not sure exactly what to post...... I HAVE lost a few pounds in the past two weeks and I'm afraid that I'll put them back on (and that they will find some "friends" to accompany them). Thanks for listening.

Hi Roll, we've got a good thing going on the "Daily Check-In" site and the ISO site if you want to join us. We're all trying to reach weights similar to your goal. We all support each other through life's ups and downs. I'm 45 and like you gained a lot of weight through a period of very hard work and some family troubles. I'm a mother of three boys who keep me hopping all the day. I work full time too so my life is truthfully too busy in my mind, but I think that comes with the territory of my life for the most part. Anyways I've lost 24 lbs since August by counting calories and exercising when I can (not enough yet, but that's another story). I'd love for you to join us. I bet you'll hear from Julie (she's great support), Skinny or Reds who all on this journey with me. Good luck to you. You'll be inspiration for your darling 12 year old too.

Thanks for the supportive replies.
I've had the flu for a few days and haven't had much of an appetite. Pretty unusual for me. I made a huge pot of chicken vegetable soup and that, along with bananas with avocados, is what I've been eating for the past couple of days. I've been reading the "Daily check-in" thread for inspiration. I may hop on over there when I catch up. I plan on starting a walking program when I feel better. I have a gym membership that I don't use. I've gained 40 pounds since I joined and now I'm too embarrassed to show up. I guess I could get over myself.
Thanks again.

Hi Julie,
Thanks for your support. I just got back from taking my daughter and two of her friends to a Swedish kids film at the local film festival. I'm still sick but I bought the tickets a long time ago and I just couldn't let $40. go down the drain--and I love Scandanavian children's films. The better news is that I was able to do without the buttered popcorn I normally eat--I brought a thermos of tea instead.

Thanks again.
